My dad just agreed to pay for a new graphics card for my computer.

In other words, in the next 24 hours, I will be having a gore fest in Doom 3.

How about updating my freakin quest? Yea... 5 minutes and you can go back to the gore fest.

Doom III kicks ass if you have the hardware for it. Its not as good as the hype but its stil greatl Note* unless you want to get hurt dont sneakup on someone playing it...

Plasticy?

All I need to do now is decide to either buy the 9800 Pro or save 50 bucks and buy the 9600 XT graphics card.

... I had no idea that better = good.

I think you were trying to say more expensive = better/good.

Maybe your parents throw out 50 additional dollars at a whim, but my don't. =\

Just my opinion. Is D3 worth the money to buy?

I've only played a little at my friend's house, and so far I think it's awesome.

The only problem is the video requirements. It's one of the reasons that I'm buying a new graphics card. That and the one I currently have is a card that was good in, well, 2001.

I got a mate who works at a computer game retailer and he says it kicks arse, but you need to have damn good specs to run it. He doesn't know anyone whose computer is strong enough to support the high quality mode. =/

Goku, we'll find out at the end of the day if mine will be able to handle high quality mode. *crosses fingers*

Faster than in real life? Wha?

I don't think anyone is overrating high quality mode. I think it's just obvious that High Quality Mode would be a more enjoyable playing experience than Low Quality Mode (if your graphics card could handle it). Either way, in half an hour I'm off to buy the graphics card, w00t.

That's nothing compared to the load of donkey shit I've used for the past 4.5 years.

Ahem...
AMD Athlon 550 mhz proc

Voodoo 3 (feel my pain for the last 2 years of non-gaming)

and my parents refuse to spend money on broadband, so I have been forced to dial up...

BUT, from what I hear... at my college (Rochester Institute of Technology) they have one of the fastest connections in the country, something along the lines of 6mb a sec.

Dude, I got a dell! And dude...I'm getting a Dell laptop. And I already crashed another Dell computer. My dad likes Dell because his company buys them, rips the tags off of em and puts their own company name on them and then sells them. Wait, there's something wrong there...
