Ever been in trouble with MGM?
#1
I am!

Evidentally MGM sent my school a notice that I have episodes of "Dead Like Me" on my computer, and so, they sent me some emails... which went into my junk folder and I didn't get. I get the 3rd notice today and I email them right back saying it was deleted. Then my "wired" connection is off from the school... and yeah, a school police officer comes by my room, has me sign a paper with my Miranda rights, and has me fill out an incident report.

I talk to him a while about my situation, and then he checks my computer for files. He finds some other files and all he says to me is "I'm not going to mention these things... but I think it would be a smart idea to delete them asap."

Then he tells me that this could go anywhere from I have a small meeting with someone about the code of internet use... or... I could have a hearing, and it could go anywhere from there. (Which he did say was really unlikely for something like this).

So yeah, if I'm disconnected from the internet for a while, that's my excuse... wish me luck!

It shouldn't be anything big, the only people they really go after are people who are distributing a bunch of files. They just send letters to the people with nothing to scare them.

Though I usually stick to unlicenced anime so I don't know, plus I am canadian. :x

Sounds like it's more of an issue with his school, not MGM.

yup, I was violating the internet use contract thingy by having them... and I swore the campus safety/police officer kept reaching for the cuffs, which kinda worried me... luckily he was a really cool guy. There was one point where he said "I see you have some porn on here as well" and I said "Yeah... I have a few"

Wow. Crazy situation. Could the porn be the 'other files' you mentioned?

I think the worst we did was get an emulator on the network and sit in the school playing Mario Kart and other random games with each other across the network. Everytime they tried to delete them, we'd put them back in a different folder, randomly named to sound like an official folder.

Heh. We installed Quake II and some old version of UT onto every computer on the network. Needless to say, we bogged down the network pretty badly, seeing as how over 80 people were playing at a time. =/

And that's on a T3 line. O_o
