Ok, which is the best, from the opinions of those that have actually tried these? No replies going "MMO sux!" please.
I haven't tried any of the above other than FFXI, which I'm very happy with, aside from a few MAJOR issues. I love the game, it's beautiful, and the Auction House is great, along with the music. But the economy is wrecked due to gil sellers and other people doing "gil=cash" sites. You now can't make money on that game, and SE seems to be just ignoring it.
EQ2... It looks nice, but I hated EQ, and doubt I'll ever play another game by Sony.
Lineage 2... Looks BEAUTIFUL, cinematically, but I've not heard much at ALL from the game. Any comments?
World of Warcraft... Seems I plan to be playing this myself when the release comes out, if I get my computer. I want to, but I don't want ot ditch FFXI. But if FFXI doesn't plan on fixing some issues, I may have to, b/c I can't pay that monthly fee, and then not be completely happy. And if I stop for more than three months to play something else, or for other reasons, they delete my account unless I keep paying. And then you have to rebuy all your stuff to reactivate. I guess it's to stop those EBaying characters though.
There's also Shadowbane, which I tried. Was nice, very nice, but god that game was so buggy that it made Win 98 look like a rock solid performer. I wanted a can of Raid everytime I tried to play it. It sucked to be running from something, get halfway to town, and suddenly you appear thirty feet behind the monster that was chasing you, who happens to have a bow, and he turns around and shoots you to death. It was called warping, where the game lagged in response time, and suddenly caught up with itself, repositioning you to where IT though you should be. Usually right in the middle of a mob camp.
Anyways, opinions wanted.

L2, now i myself havn't played it personally. but i havn't heard spectacular things about it either, actually i havn't heard many good things at all. The "clan" battles even in theory were a bads idea as lag will destroy it, you apperantly will run into your clone in about two minutes due to lack of choices in customization, and the pvp aspect opens the gates for the stronger players to sit around and just hack the hell out of lower level players for the fun if it, which would get very annoying due to the penalties that come with dieing. *Has a Diablo 2 Hardcore Realm flashback* Lvl 99 enters the game...shit logout..logout. Anyone that's played diablo 2 will remember those moments, well those of us that've played hardcore realm will anyway. Very annoying. And also when you die you have a chance of droping an item, well gee look another incentive for pkers anyone? If your truly into an pk infested nightmare of a game, then this is the one for you.
The clan battles work really well actually, because like you said later, you run into your 'clone'. That's what allows for sieges to happen which are insanely large scale and awesome, as long as you are running the right rig.
Don't worry about the PVP aspect either. They have something called Karma, if you kill someone you get bad karma and your name turns red and anyone that kills you while your name is red doesn't get bad karma.
Also, you can't drop items when killed by a PK'er unless you are red.

I'm playing WoW, and its great. I started by playing an Orc, and we start in a valley of training to become warriors of the horde. (which follows the storyline!)
My first quest is to practice on some weak mottled boars, which is easy. Then it gets harder. Well, my next quest is to kill the vicious scorpids to show my strength, this is harder then it sounds. Next, a faorly easy quest, from a cook in the valley, i must pick apples from him, and bring it back to him so he can make a cool cactus appel surprise, which increases my stamina for a short time.
Well, the quests go on, killing betraying voodoo priests by Sen'jan Village and killing a orc warlock that is terrorizing the valley, hitting peons for sleeping on the job, etc, etc, etc. This is very fun to do, because, you can just go through the quests, instead of grinding all the time.
Tradeskills? Amazing, though i'm only doing 2, mining and blacksmithing, I haven't seen any mining places yet, but you need a mining pick for it, so i'm getting one ASAP, so i make myself some copper chain pants! Whoo hoo....You have to change things to liquid metal and then use your recipes, at a forge. Tradeskills can help pass time, and help people.
Graphics? Don't get me started on graphics, if you have played Warcraft 3, you will see a good pattern if you look at both of them, you actually feel like one of those wee soldiers in the RTS, or perhaps a hero later on.
Community is fantasic so far, i ask where to find a place, how to do a quest, people don't turn me off, they show me what to do, help me out, i hope the community stays this way for retail.
Gameplay is easy to pick up, i learn how to fight, jump, swim, and pick up items in about 5 minutes, its easy to pick up, since there are hints at the bottom of the screen if you want them to be there.
Travel is pretty good, but the zeppelins need to be fixed, i'm trapped on one. Thats why i'm here right now, or I would be playing.
Bugs and lag, this is major, since its open beta, its mega lag, this should cut down after release though, and bugs? There are a few, like the zeppelin one earlier I mention, your game can still crash, but i think that is mostly lag.
PvP is good to, its system makes people avoid killing noobies, so you don't have to worry right away, and fighting a person is like fighting a "creep".
I hope that helped.

(Double post of the same thing, sorry And I can't put in the thing I added, i'll put it here then...)
Edit: I played lineage 2, the graphics are beauiful, and everything is perfectly fit in that game, except its somewhat like EQ, its a grind fest, a total grind fest. Don't get me wrong, roleplaying here is a breeze if you want to do it, I remember when I was a dumb orc in that game, and thought the boat was a creature...That was a fun day...Anyway, back on topic, PvP is great for this game, and the game world is utterly huge, but the grinding, so much grinding. Alot of you might in jy this game, but there is no joy in Zarbonville, mighty Lineage 2 has struck out.

Well I play FFXI. Before we got it I was hard set on not even bothering, I NEVER play games online, I'm not a social perason. But as I watched Cell play I started to think about it and I decided to try it. I'm now deciding that this will be the only game online that I will play...
I guess some things I don't like are: The bots, god damn them. Some are farm, some are fishing. The very fact that people are using them irks me. Gil, people jack the prices up, and the ecomeny is crap, and it's so bloody hard to make money. Thankfully I can taxi for gil, but still. They need more music, or the ability for people to imput music or something. I HATE running through areas with no music. The graphics are good, I like the. The fact, though, that no matter where I run there's always a copy of me, that bothers me.
I love the game, but only a few things could be fixed.
DA08 Winner. "Screw them, this was her show now."
