OMG!!!1! MGS3 help
#1
So I'm at The End, playing the second time through, and I forgot to pick up the thermal goggles all the way in the beginning. The way I see it, I'm completely screwed because I can't go to areas pre-ocelot fight because you fall off the cliff there and... yeah. Burtah, however, seems to remember going to get them after fighting the fear... which I thought isn't possible, but he can't remember how he did it. Anyone care to share some help?

I have been trying to use the sound detector, no luck so far. So is my assumption right that it's impossible to get the thermals at this point?

I took the old creep out with out my SVD o.O

But it was a blasted nightmare since I was having one hell of a hard time trying to find the bastard! >.<

MGS 3 Spoilers up ahead. (D'uh)

'Kay, if you don't want to be a retard and get caught all the time, here's how you beat him w/o thermal goggles.

When you first start the battle, carefully head to the ammunitions supply shed on the western part of Sokrovenno South (where you start the fight). You should be crawling at this point, since otherwise The End is probably already blasting at you.

Hokay. Notice that if you use your SVD, you spot his parrot sitting on top of the shed? Shoot it. Why? Because without his parrot, who acts as his spotter, he's virtually useless. The End will freak out at you, and you'll lose the free shot you get at the beginning of the fight, but it's well worth it.

So he took off from his perch just above you. No matter, find a way up to higher ground overlooking the valley, get down, and bust out your SVD. Look for a reflection in the distance, almost always near a section of tall grass. Zoom in, aim for the head, shoot. Shoot thrice, as each shot up to three damages him. He'll fall over or whatever, toss a stun grenade even though you're not there, and if you're good, you'll be able to plug him a couple more times as he makes his escape.

Try to predict where he's going, and sneak up on him again. Rinse, lather, repeat.

I caught the damn bird & just let it free, it'll fly off to where ever the hell he is in what ever stage, you can hear him while he's tryingto swat away the bird..

Not very good thou, considering it comes as if he was next to you & he isn't.. >.<

Thanks for the help Paragus, I'm trying to do the special moss camo stuff so I need the thermals to be able to sneak up on him.

No problem, it's what I do. On a completely unrelated note (sort of) I got the stealth camo for the game. =D

And Toma, you can.

I'm at the Shagovolgin battle. =\
But after that, I'm going for a no alerts run to try and get stealth camo. Tongue

Although, with the small amount of time I've actually spent playing the game lately, that might take a while.

Yeah, finding and shooting all 64 kerotan frogs isn't as easy as it sounds. Especially during the bike chase, seeing as how you won't receive any visual or audio cues as to wether or not you actually shot it.

No alerts is "easier". I'm gonna hate escaping Groznyj Grad. =(

For once Pikkon, we agree. They should re make the original Metal Gears. It would rock so much..

But being naked, defenseless, and unarmed without being allowed any alerts wasn't that hard. I think the game took pity on me. I killed The End without actually having to fight him, killed that ocelot unit, escaped Groznyj Grad, and fell down the waterfall. Normally there's an ocelot unit ready to eat your face. But there wasn't...it was interesting.

If they remade the original Metal Gears that'd be awesome. Or even if they released them for the GBA.

That's 'cause you took out the transmitter before reaching this area. If you're not being traced by that time, the Ocelots don't find you. Tongue

Maybe I'll try all this shit after I beat KOTOR II. This will be a good summer. Big Grin

KOTOR II ... dont even get me started. I've never seen such an excellent game so flawed. Imagine if they did it right the first time through? It could be better than the first.

WHat do you mean flawed? i liked the game while i rented it

Its a good game, but... flawed. There a pluthera of tiny bugs as well as a couple major ones, there are ... well

{Possible Spoiler}

A bunch of storylines started and never finished. The biggest being the ACTUAL FRIGGEN GAME. The end you get is shit.
