Shameless DDR Brag Thread
#1
I got my first "AAA" rating on a song two days ago at home. That's Perfects all the way through the song. No Greats, no Goods, no Boos, no Almosts. All Perfects.

Granted, it was on Beginner, but that's still quite snazzy. You may bow.

I got an AAA on Heavy like a month ago. My only one, too =D

I forgot the actual song. I think it's called 'Break it Down' or something. It's on DDRMax2. It's a techno sounding song.

I've beaten I believe three or four Challenges in total. All Home Version, though.

Last time I played Arcade, I passed Heavy. I count that enough of an accomplishment. I'll admit the timing window in the Arcade is much thinner than that on the Home Version.

But I'm still proud of my AAA. Hoo-hah!

I believe I got a hard C on some dance game I played with the home version. Only time I played. It was okay. *shrug* More of something I'd do to just have fun with others.

Maybe you guys should try "challenge mode" instead of panzy heavy..... oh oh oh yeah and go play the proper machine.... like one in an arcade instead of those weak "i can get any inaccurate score" home mats.

My first AAA score was on standard when i started playing.... that damn "telephone operator" song is so annoying,.... yet so easy.... just about as easy as the "Butterfly" song.

Hey, fuck you dude.

There is no difference between the home and arcade except you have people watching you at the arcade. I don't know about anyone else's but my mats are all but innaccurate.

And furthermore, I have done Challenge mode and I've gotten A's and AA's plenty of times on a few of them.

EDIT:

A good workout? You can play for hours on the home version, FOR FREE. And it's not lowering your standards. Doing challenge or heavy at home isn't any easier then doing is in the arcade.

I've gotten AA/A's on challenge mode at the arcade too, before you jump at me

Actually, I think the Arcade version is literally harder. The home version is more forgiving than the Arcade version. At first, I thought it was the mat that kept me at a lower score. And in part, that was true. But the "timing window" is smaller in the Arcade.

But, regardless, it is not too noticeable, and playing on a home version has not ever messed me up for Arcade play. I can make the transition quite smoothly after just one or two games.

The arcades are able to have the sensitivity and difficulty increased or decreased based on the arcade's view of how they can possibly gouge money out of the user or give them a free ride. Gohan knows this. The arcades are a lot better in general. I have used many different types of home matts, and those things slide around under you and sometimes lose track of their buttons. We had gotten some really good heavey matts at one point that didn't really slide around and were accurate, but we had to place some of that plastic stuff under it for under office chairs and such. I greatly prefer the arcade versions (though I'm no bar-hugger), as I just like the feel of the machine under me.

Oooooh. =P

I forget if I've done the arcade or not, I know for sure I tried the mat, and yea, it was pretty slippery. But I've seen people at the arcade (a.k.a.: Ruckers) pull some amazing stuff with great reaction time. Too bad my co-ordination is stuck to video games, and then only moderate. =(

One thing the arcade offers that the home version doesn't, and all arcade owners hate... Get someone good on that machine and let them freestyle... After doing gymnastics on the bar they perform a freakin' "Matrix Walk" which is where they spin on the bar, then run across the screen itself, but the way they do it is cool. During some songs with an intermission in them I'd get off and run around acting stupid, and then twist around the bar and then get behind it, and run and jump over it hurdle style landing on the arrows when they restarted. Easy, but fun.

The main reason why I probably didn't try them as becaus ethey cost like $2 per run. You know what would be cool, to just buy an arcade version and install it in your house. Now that would be pretty damn fun, even I would be addicted to that damn machine.

Then let me put it this way: I haven't been to an Arcade yet that is as sensitive, or as responsive as my home pad.

And anyway, I haven't had a single problem with sliding. I don't know how I'd fare on a hardwood floor, but my carpet is long enough for traction, but short enough to not do some weird flopping thing. The bottom of my pad is some kind of rubber, and it stays put. Big Grin

Eventually, I'm shelling out 300 clams for the Cobalt Flux. But that will probably be in a few years yet...

Krillin, you must've played on some shitty condition machines then. There are a few shitty ones here, and one or two good ones. We used to have a lot of good ones, but the arcades didn't clean the machines or anything. In fact, we'd bring spray and rags to clean fucking mud off the arrows and shit ourselves. We wanted to hold a knife to the throat of the arcade people for allowing the 5 year olds that were playing in the mud to come in and jump on.

I want one of the Cobalt Flux pads too, but I've played on them. They are not really worth the money.

Although my former roommates and I had planned on trying to save up and buy one of the machines Smile

I think Maryland just sucks for Arcades period. I haven't really found a good one with a decent Mix.
