Mirages

You held my hand and told me that everything was going to be alright; I believed you and fell into a delusion of happiness. Your facade masked what I knew about it all. I wanted you to be a cover-up for the entire ache. I hoped that you would be able to succeed where I had failed many times before.

Followed you about, unsure about what is happening. I trusted that your instincts well lie equal to that of my own--oh how I had deceived by myself.

You seem to be an embodiment of what I hoped to be me; apparently I am grasping at the chance of becoming you, who I am meant to be. What you did didn't feel right to me; because I knew it is not me making those decisions, those decisions that impact me so much.

Why did I trust you with myself? Why did I not trust myself? Back to becoming who I feel I am to be. Back to becoming somebody who isn't you.
