What do I do if I click on Volume Control and I get "There are no active mixer devices available"

I can't figure out how to fix it and I'm getting upset Sad. I have no sound, my music players all say I have no mixer and I don't know what it means.

I can't even ask my brother for help...

My mom convinced my brother to look at it -.- the guys who fixed my pervious problem didn't put it back together properly.
