I agree with Trunks/Rad completely (though admittedly, I'm biased, coming from England. Still, though, the stats say it pretty well). It just seems the gun thing in the US is a spiralling effect. The other guy has a gun, so you have to have a gun too so that you're equal. He has a bigger gun, you also have to get a bigger gun. Wouldn't it be better if guns were just banned to civilians altogether?

Forbidding firearms doesn`t solve anything. Infact, it increases crime ratios beacuse civilians cannot defend themselves and are thus more open to attacks from criminals who get their firearms from the black market anyway. When firearms were forbidden in Britain, the crime ratios increased. So that does not help.

However, I do agree that there have to be strict criterias for one to obtain firearms and ammunition. I find it a bit disturbing how simple it is in the US to obtain a firearm. If available to just any person, firearms can cause tragedy and disaster (for example, Columbine).

Your right, Raditzu. One does not need an automatic rifle to protect himself. Besides, if properly used, a firearm with less firepower can be just as efficitient.

From a more realistic point of view, I would be happy to get a TT-33, Yugo M48 Mauser or a Kar98k. An SKS would be fine too.

No, I am into historic weaponry. And for your information, the Mauser rifle was one of the finest rifles of its time, whereas the TT-33 was a sort of Soviet copy of the Colt 1911. Are you gonna tell me the Colt 1911 is poorly made?

I agree with all the people that say we don't need guns. Although, since we have the right to bear arms and whatnot, constitutionally we are allowed to have them. However, that second amendment of ours says nothing about the right to have ammunition for said arms. Therefore, guns should be legal, but we should put a ban on all ammunition. Except for potato masher grenades. Those Germans knew how to make a good nade.

Jackie, I love how you carefully neglected to mention the AK-47. I wasn't really talking about the Mauser (I realize it was a fantastic weapon for it's time), but you and I both know the Tokorev was a cheap Colt knock-off. It's not as goot as the M1911. Period. Both accuracy, range, and stopping power are inferior to the American gun.

Big argument about the AK; it's effective only because it was built wrong. A loose action caused the bullets to tumble through the air, rendering them pretty inaccurate but incredibly devastating (again, for it's time), as the bullets would absolutely tear flesh apart. The only 'good' things about the AK, though, are that it's cheap, and it can fire pretty much everywhere. It kinda sucks in comparison to it's competitors, though that's only because the design is... well... ancient.
