Well, I talked to my little brother tonight. Its official. I am going to be an auntie, my mom a first time grandma. He's gotten his girlfriend pregnant, and thus goes out all the preaching I tried to cram into his hard head since he was 13. He is 19 now, almost 20, and is going to be a daddy.
Its...its weird. I kinda figured I would be the first of the demon brood to have a kid, but nope. He beat me to it. Oh well. I wasn't in a hurry anyway, but he is so young. But I guess the bright side of this is is that he has a phat ass job, working as a cable installer for a big company, has two cars, his own house (renting) and...well, he's got his shit straight. I am proud of how far he has gotten, but I guess I just don't see my little brother having kids already. Its kinda scary, i am not prepared for this.
I remember not even seven years ago, pirating out his torn up bunk bed beams, and making a ghetto ass tee pee outside in the backyard, rigging an extention cord out to our tent and dragging a 27 inch television out there just to watch pokemon and other fun shows from that time. We used to egg cars upstairs in the room that looked out to the road, perfect distance, as the cars passed only about 10 feet out in the road, and it was like a fort, throwing stones to intruders. People used to get so pissed when we did that. XD
I remember us playing hide and seek in a 10x10 foot room, with the dressers piled up with milk crates, the lights cut off. I knocked one of the milk crates off the dresser and conked him in the head, thus resulting in a three inch long gash in his head, he needed 7 stitches to patch up.
We used to be so evil to each other, fighting, bickering, but I loved my little brother, he was my best friend all up till six years ago, when he decided to stay in Columbus and me and my mother moved to Lancaster. He rarely visits, but, that does not mean we don't call each other up to make fun of each other.
Thinking of how bad we were as kids, I wonder if the addage about "Your kids will be ten times as bad as you were" is true. If it is...well...shit. I feel sorry for him. If he makes it to the kid's 18th birthday without anything being set on fire/broken/ran over/stitches/ other stuff, then I wish him luck.
I just needed to get this off my chest. I am just not ready for this stage of life. I am growing old, and...I am just in suspense as each day passes by.
