Get DDR for whatever system you own. Make sure you got that pad that goes with it. You'll be losing weight and having fun. ^_^

I think it's great that you?re trying to take charge of your eating and exercise habits. Heart attacks (high cholesterol and blood pressure) run in my family, and since my father had one a couple of years ago, I've been educating myself on that subject, so I do know a thing or two about keeping cholesterol and things down, which can help with weight loss.

One of the number one health concerns in the world is malnutrition, so not only should you eat regularly, but you should eat balanced as well: whole grains, protein, fruit, vegetables, and dairy (low fat or fat-free) items should be spread evenly throughout the day. Follow the food pyramid! Whatever you buy, look closely at labels, serving sizes, and ingredients. Some products can be misleading. Also, the information is based on serving size. Serving sizes can be found on boxes and packaging, but for things like fruits and vegetables, a rough estimation would be how much you can fit in both hands (cupped). Your diet should be around 1,600-1,800 calories a day. Violet made a good point about what you drink, because a lot of people end up drinking their calories rather than eating them. As I'm told, in the UK, they eat lunch for dinner and dinner for lunch (or supper as they call it I believe). This actually works in weight loss. So, if you can handle it, flip-flop lunch and dinner. Heavier meals really shouldn't be eaten later in the day, anyway. It's bad for the digestive system. Jeice was correct in saying to cut off your eating about one to two hours before you go to sleep!

A big concern about foods is fats. Some fats are actually good for your body, as it can't produce them on its own, but a lot of fats are bad. The heart-healthy kinds of fats are those that are liquid at room temperature: monounsaturated (olive oil, nuts, avocados), polyunsaturated (sunflower oil, corn oil, soy foods), and especially Omega 3 fatty acids, which are found in fish (balance your Omega 3's with Vitamin K to keep blood clotting stable). These help balance out your "bad cholesterol." Bad fats that raise your cholesterol are things that are solid at room temperature: saturated fats (most meats, eggs, dairy products), and trans-fatty acids (margarines, hydrogenated oils). Your fat intake should be about 25% of your total calories.

Eat plenty of fiber. You need 25-30 grams a day. Fiber helps clean out your digestive system. Whole grains are usually a big source of fiber, but you can find it in things like pears, apples, sweet potatoes, lima beans, raw tomatoes, and so forth.

Snacking is a big issue with a lot of people. When people are hungry, it means their body needs food. When people have an appetite, it means that your body wants food. Some of this is mental: you train your body on a sleep schedule, and similarly, you can train your body on a food schedule. Animals do this. That's how, even though they don't have a concept of chronology, they are usually always crying for their dish around the same time everyday. So, a big part is just telling yourself "no." A trick some people have used is just chewing sugarless gum. It staves off the craving for a little while, kind of like how people trying to quit smoking use it. If you must snack, pick something like an apple. Avoid things like pastries or muffins. I used to eat Costco muffins on my breaks until I found out that eating just one of those was like eating two Whoppers.

Here's something of what your meal plan should be like:

Breakfast: half plate whole grains, one fourth plate protein (1-2 ounces), one fourth plate empty, side servings of fruit and dairy, and one serving of good fat

Lunch: half plate whole grains, one fourth plate protein (2 ounces), one fourth plate vegetables, side servings of fruit and dairy, and three servings of good fat

Dinner: half plate non-starchy vegetables (starches include carrots, white potatoes, etc.), one fourth plate protein (2 ounces), two servings whole grain, side servings of fruit and dairy, and three servings of good fat

That's what I can offer you. As for exercise, any regiment is always different for different people, since no one body is really the same. Find what works, and stick with it. Take it slow; don't try to run a mile in one day. Cap it off at thirty minutes if you want, but to get yourself acclimated, you can start small and then try to increase your exercise time by a minute a day. Walking is an excellent way to get in shape. Personally, I do the whole "sit-ups, push-ups, weight-lifting" thing. I would swim?but I hate the water. Swimming is the best form of exercise, because it works your entire body. It's wierd, but aerobics mode on DDR has helped people lose weight and get in shape...

All in all, good luck, and I hope you achieve your goal.

I considered getting that stuff, did you excercise more than usual, or did you just take the pills and that's it?

i take the pills but i don't do like hardcore working out. My idea of workout is walking where i need to get to or biking, and dancing. But, really though, what i have lost so far is a hella lot more than what I did on my own.

EDIT: the only thing that really sucks is having to swallow the pills. you have to take two of them in the morning with a shitload of water, and these ain't no teenie weenie pills. >.< But then again, tehy do fill your stomach up and make you feel full sooner, so you don't over eat. so, I guess its a fair tradeoff.

I don't know about all these fantasy ways of doing things exercises becuase walking works wonders for me. also i find that if you really want to lose weight eat alot of raisin brains for breakfast and maybe one other meal. It drops the weight fast I lost 50ibs in half a month. I did this for a military thing but I still never got in becuase of certain appearant problems they didn't like. Thats what I do when Ir eally want to lose weight it works wonders. (whhy oyu can all probably guess).

Normally I just walk alot and eat what I want and my weight stays relatively the same or a little under. Did I mention its cheap. ^_^

I am quite sure losing that much weight in the expase of two weeks is dangerous. But i guess whatever works...

Pretty much the same as Frieza for me. I walk a lot more now and I consider myself somewhat healthy. The problem is that nowadays, exercise isn't a necessity anymore, and the human body has yet to adapt Tongue the best way of keeping in shape is having a regular thing that requires physical effort, other than going out of your way to do something for the sake of the physical effort. Like going somewhere which makes you walk. But, as I said, it's more difficult nowadays unless your job entails hard labour Sad

It's understandable that you would have fun and feel happy; hormones, I believe, are released when you workour and the such and they are ones that can make you feel happy. When I went to a therapist about my mild depression they told me that working out would help, and that's why.

I'm glad to hear that things are going well. ^_^ You know we all stand behind you 100%. If you ever feel like changing up your routine, if it's getting boring or anything, I'm sure that us military folk can help with that.

Official weigh in loss for May 1st, 2006.

In total (I doubt you guys would care to know the actual sizes and stuff): 8 1/4 inches, 8.5lbs, 7.4 Body Fat

I've worked out 11 times, my first weigh in was March 3rd, 2006.

I've cut out coke, as in if I drink it I'll have a cup maybe once or twice a week, no more. I eat salads more, less choclate and junk food. Less quick meals like pizza pops and noodles, and not as much McDonalds.

Soon I'll hit my first goal, though not my whole goal...more of a personal goal smaller than the main one Smile.
