They're making it into a movie!?

Johnny Roxorz. Though picturing The Rock as him is kinda hard, though he has the voice for it.

As for Arnie, if they could eliminate his accent and make him look younger, maybe. Hearing 'Man i'm pretty.' with an Austrian accent would be hilarious.

Personally I think he'd make a great JB. He's got the charisma, the eyebrow, etc etc. And like I said, watching the Rock be handbagged in the face will be priceless.

They did it with Sponge Bob, or atleast I thought so, then again, it was a cartoon movie, not an actual movie.

darknessreign555: "Animated knockers. Get on it."

Hitchhiker was funny in parts. =/

At least they had the right general idea, even if the acting was shoddy, the special effects were cheap, the storyline felt somewhat butchered, and many of the jokes were lost in translation. But they had the right IDEA, dammit. =(

... obviously the right idea wasn't enough. Enjoyed reading it but it pained me to see what happened to it on film. Maybe they'll retry it in the far flung future when they decide its time to recycle some oldies and get it right.

I'm thinking the same problems with translation are going to happen with JB. I mean a half an hour cartoon idiocy with 3 seperate plots and shorts is one thing, but are they really going to be able to come up with a plot that carries that kind of humor and keep it from going sour for at least little over an hour?

It wasn't ment to be like the book. Douglas Adams wrote the script for the movie before he passed away, so I consider it a great movie.

So my opinion on whether or not it was a good movie means I am wrong. Nice deduction there slick.

As my film professor said, in much more eloquent wording:

A film is supposed to be an adaptation of a book. It is not supposed to be an exact duplicate because the film is supposed to be a different piece of artwork compared to the book. When you go to see a film, you're watching a "2-hour" version of the important elements of the book expressed in a manner that comes together, leaving out the less important, non-story-driving parts.

The fact that Mr. Adams wrote the screenplay makes it even better in the fact that he's telling you what he found to be important to get out of a film adaptation.

With that said, I still wasn't a fan of the movie, but I thought it was still very well made.

I enjoyed the manic depressive robot.

Yes, Marvin rocks. He continues to rock through the other four books in the trilogy.

Hercule, I can understand your argument, but the simple fact is, Douglas Adams wouldn't care worth the length of time Ford Prefect is sober (which is a very small number indeed, no matter what time increment you measure it by). The BBC episodes are nothing at all like the book, which is, in turn, not exactly like the movie we've seen, which, in turn, is not at all like the computer game Mr. Adams wrote for Infocom. The point is, Mr. Adams was behind all of these ventures, and they've all got more contradictions than a perpetual motion machine has joules.

Slow down on the analogies, Krillin, or I'll have to give you a ticket.

And it won't be a ticket for free ice cream ... =[!!!
