Well, that's if you really wanna go up teh chain. You can still join teh guild, but don't expect to go up the ladder if you don't even meet any of the main players.

You can still get quests, but they will most likely be easy, small quests.

EDIT: Rad; thanks, I thought of it all by myself. =D

I still think 10 days out of the way is ridiculous, but it's up to you. It's nothing off my back, as I have my own ship and can use Kai Kai

That's not it, doesn't it take ten bloody days to get there?
There's a good chance that a lot of quests (at least the lower ones) will involve traveling in space, so ten days would probably give you the time to do your quest.

It says under shop and then under ship (400, though, I believe).

Wait until you would be given the mission; it may not even be transporting (that was just a generalization, I have many more things I could think up), but if it doesn't give many specifications, then you are free to take it from there.

Something like that--just wait.

It would be a good idea, but I don't expect you to let them go to second base on the first date.

Yes.

O'Hara will usually be called daily by a contact about a possible person to join the Bjorken, whether it be because of their transporting skills or how well they can get merchandise for cheap. They are also positioned from time to time, with them meeting Jonathon.

No, but a wider range of possible tasks would open up if you did.

Depends on the type of task. It'll be said when you are given the mission if the ship will be paid for or not; I may even have it so that you'd be reimbursed 400 zeni after you complete the task.

It's two weeks of spiritken training, not two weeks 'til.
