An Idea?

It would have to be one hell of a portable system.

Why would you want to give your idea for a company?

Also, you want it on what? aPSP? Gameboy? or what?

If you want to do it yourself, give me a PM, I'm sure I can help you code if I get some tutorials for that language.

Do you own a PSP?

If so, check out the Untold Legends (the first one, mind you) multiplayer. I've played it with three other people and, let me tell you, the lag can get nasty with everyone using their skills, or when encountering a decent sized group of enemies.

Also, while working on this, make sure to keep screen size in mind. Players need to be able to see themselves, their enemies, their allies, and information such as HP/MP/XP at the same time. Additionally, for a class such as a healer/buffer, they need to have an easy way of identifying the status and livihood of their party members.

Its a cool idea, but it will be very hard to cut everything down to a level that current handhelds can handle, and still retain the level of depth that will keep people wanting to play.

That aside, I'll be honest with you: I don't think a game can be designed properly that would make me want to pay a monthly fee to pay it on a handheld.

I doubt he intends to make a monthly fee if he makes it...though the server costs, may be high >.> Still, if you need a coder, tell me the platform, and I'll study for a week or so, and have everything memorized. Believe me, that's how I learned VB6. In one week.

I don't think the choice about monthly fees would be his to make. Developers are rarely involved in that end of the business.

I suggested he shouldn't use outside help. He should comercialise on his terms. Not to give in to the game companies.

I don't think it can be reasonable done.

Between all of the data transfer and the power of current handhelds I think it would just be a lag fest.

Plus, handhelds with internet. It just doesn't go over well.

MMOs belong on the PC.

sorry about the dbl post.

He can't. I don't know for sure but I don't think he has the resources to publish the game himself. There needs to be a considerable base for an MMO and if you are publishing it yourself.. I think you'll find it hard to get it to those people who want to play it.

Well, yeah...it'd be better if he just did a PC MMORPG.

Yeah... you know that there are companies devoted only to publishing for a reason... right?
