Swimming classes :-|
#1
So my mom made me attend swimming classes this week. I'm supposed to go daily (except week-ends) with the coach until I'm perfect at swimming. Then, I'm supposed to go maybe twice a week.

I go with a friend of mine, who managed to make this coach train us....he's retired. Now, today...he says he's sick, but I know he isn't, and I have to go alone.......I hate going alone there Sad

Anyone else here take classes?

PS. In my country, they put a lot of (those washing things that are supposed to make clothes white and is a disinfectant in water) that stuff in, so everytime I open my eyes/accidentaly breathe/accidentally swallow that water, it hurts...real bad. And the water is green, not clear, greeeeeeen.

Buy some goggles. If you are going to have to go that often they would be a great investment. Also, stop breathing when your head is still underwater/learn how to breath so water doesn't get in there.

I've got goggles. And I know I'm not supposed to breathe >.> Anyway, didn't do today from too much pains. I learned to swim in 1 day...that meant that I now need to exercise my muscles. I passed out after fifteen 100 m laps of the pool :-|

You my good sir, suck.

*swims competitively*

Don't worry about the passing out after a 1500, Toma. I mean, passing out is definitely BAD, but swimming uses entirely different muscle groups than, say, running or football. 1500 is about a mile in length, so that's pretty good distance if you were doing it straight with no rest. It just takes a lot of endurance, and you have to have a certain build. If you've got a lot of muscle, you're screwed, because too much muscle slows you down, and makes you sink. If you're, well, overweight, then you'll have more weight to pull, and you won't be able to move through the water effectively.

But just wait until you do the butterfly. Oh my, if you think you know pain, do the 200 butterfly. That will redefine anguish for you. =/

Drylands. Good times right there. Those are some intense swimming lessons.

You should all do worthwhile sports like fencing. Or polo. Or picking fights with the disabled/young/old.

I did fencing once or twice, can't remember back to that time...I was.....ten? Big Grin

@20: Oh...I thought it was a little too easy, seeing as how my friend did 200 of each and then did I think ten 200 m swims. I'd do that too, but I'm still at the point where I can't breathe once I start swimming. I go on my first breath so my swims are short......but very powerful. I went like twelve meters in three seconds, I pushed into a wall at first, but it doesn't really matter.

Ah, dang, I forgot about that. I'll need to keep that in mind from now on, my apologies, Toma. =P

Anyways, Toma, it's all about breathing pattern and body rotation. I'd recommend a 3-2 breathing pattern if you run out of breath too quickly.

I can't remember not being able to swim. I figure I've just been able to do it effortlessly since birth. o_0 Swimming is pretty much the laziest sport ever. I'm not fit at all, but I still enjoy it.

Tennis is the best sport ever. Period.

Oh, I can swim but not that well. We had to do 14 laps in 10 minutes to pass in my swim class with sets of Elementary Backstroke, Backstoke, Butterfly, and Freestyle. I got like 14 and a half. I'm done with swimming now. I do like to swim recreationally tho.

They're talking competetive swimming, not just kicking your feet and flappin' yer arms. There's a reason it is an olympic sport.
