From the description, I assumed this was a different show, and was really excited, because I hadn't seen it in years. Now maybe one of you will know which show I'm thinking of.
It was also a panel of contestants answering random questions, but everything was in shadows, including the host, who sat down and if I remember correctly he was an older man with long white hair. When someone got a question wrong he would tell them they were eliminated and say "goodbye, mr. jacobs" or whatever their name was, and they would look down, like they were upset, and walk off.
This ring a bell to anyone? For some reason I feel like it was on either IFC or PBS.
