The Chatter Box
I kinda figured I'd go out this round; I wasn't really able to get into this task like the other. Good luck to everyone who advanced.

I'm glad Rad's putting his deadline times in GMT-x now. Always makes it easier for me since I can set the forum time to it (and I always screw it up when I try to work it out manually ... like the first task this round >_>;).

Go go Murasaki!

I did it for the first round, but didn't realize until recently that the people who are on my team now probably didn't see that.

What did you guys think of my submission for the second task, by the way?

The teams could easily say that for themselves, then. =o

Hehehe. KV made me giggle. For reasons I simply can't say, due to the fact that if I explained why it was funny, he'd get mad at me.

I think he'd get more mad at a statement like that than if you explained yourself.

Or, I could just be saying that because I'm curious as to what you're getting at. =p

No, I don't think he'd get "mad" or anything, it's just after I said it, it'd probably be one of those "...stfu." situations. Although he'd phrase it more eloquently.

Twenty's right. Will would say 'stuf.'

I agree with KV, the Shield was a stupid idea, I also agree that you should be tested for things that matter, I mean when would you EVER as a staff member we fooled into thinking you are 'safe' from something OOC?

Though I find it ironic since KV's Prelim tasks had nothing to do with the site and all and in my eyes were completly use-less, insane and judged way to hard

The point of 'The Shield' wasn't supposed to simulate a staff-related task. It was based on the idea of seeing who was willing to work when they think they don't have to. Self-motivation. I've been in jobs where people would work their hardest when a manager was around. But, the second an assistant manager that didn't care if you screwed off or not was on shift, people would screw around and not get anything done.

KV's right. I really don't know what it's like to be staff here. I'm sure there's a lot that goes on behind the curtain that we don't see. We see the play, not the work that goes into it. Since I'm in the audience, I could only put it into a way I could conceive as an audience member.

Maybe it was poorly manifested. That's up to the judges. Maybe I'm just rambling mindlessly because it's 5:00 in the morning.

Regardless, I stand by the concept.

At first glance, the winner is obviously 20's group.

But if you actually read over it all, there are some flaws. In my opinion, giving all the participants mod powers and letting them judge all the forums is kind of a bad idea. In addition, splitting the planets up amongst people like that doesn't really work. I remember Rad saying that the actual staff tried that once, and it didn't stick for obvious reasons (people just update where they see updating is required, as opposed to hanging around on their designated forum). It was a good idea, but I don't think realistically you'd mod all the potential applicants. Points for effort, though.

If you remove the updating part, then all that's left is the tasks, which is what I think it should be judged on. Task 1 was the updating, which you already know all about. >_> Task 2 was my favourite, because it was the most viable. Task 3 suffered from the same problems as Task 1 in terms of 'would staff actually put contest participants in charge of a full-fledged saga?'.

At first, I thought 'The Shield' was just a novelty idea which would bring the game into the realms of Big Brother, and I really don't want to treat this contest like just a silly game. But reading over it, I really liked it.

Feel free to C&C our stuff as well. I'd be interested to see how you guys thought we did.

I liked your second task. I can think of a few things to flesh that out a bit more (expansive-wise), but overall, it's great. It has serious relevance to everyday Chubbs life, and is something staff have to deal with constantly.

Real quick I'd like to apologies to my group and the judges for my... mediocre performance.

Especially to the judges though, to me it's that they invested some time in trusting that I'd make for a good leader and yet I threw is back at them. I know this is just a contest but it's just my nature to try and prove myself when I'm placed up against a challenge. I'll do my best to improve and hopefully regain some of that trust by others to be an effective leader, the results of this round isn't how I want to be seen as.
