If we get mine in for the 'clerical' aspect of modding, and Murasaki's in for the 'creative' aspect of modding, then we need one more. I quite like Violet's last idea of organising a saga, because that incorporates both sides. Obviously the idea for the saga has to be creative, but you also have to handle the rewards, eliminations, etc etc.
So here are my three suggestions for our tasks: Task 1: Murasaki's Create-A-Planet (pure creativity) Task 2: My own Warning Revamp (pure moderation...ery) Task 3: Violet's Organise a Saga (creativity + clerical tasks - rewards, eliminations, etc) Those are what I suggest. I would go straight on to the final writing up of the tasks, but you guys might disagree with what I've chosen, so the table is open. ![]() Bra Wrote:People are dumb, essentially.

I like that idea Supps. What I think we have to do though is just get a few of us together, the more the merrier and actualy work out the fine tunning of this and getting everything squared away. Seeing as I work every day this week I don't know if I would be able to join in on this but if we have it just PM me the log and I will look over it and get back to each of you with my comments. Also, if you want me to start revising and fleshing out my planet idea a little bit more I could get right on that tonight.

Hmm, just an observation, build off of it what you will, but perhaps Supes' idea is good. Just combine those what he detailed. It would be a good test to see how well a new mod could handle thier job and multiple players.
Also, a task encompassing Goku Jr.'s idea of creating a guide for new people that will hold thier attention (let's face it, hardly anyone reads Bardock's guide. My theory is because of its length, and some people aren't up for that.) So perhaps creating a guide that is entertaining as well as educational, (Think Schoolhouse Rock), that would be awesome. Perhaps create it in steps, where each post would be a step, and have an activity per section. For example, the first lesson of it would be, oh, nouns and pronouns. Detail what a pronoun is, and have an activity where the reader actually experiments getting aquainted with pronouns. EX. Pronouns Come up with 5 variations for "Woman". Response: Girl, female, lady, etc. etx. Use them in a sentence. The Girl kicks the dog. and so on, and so forth. Another good idea for this is to provide a list of words, and a prewritten story, where at certain points, the reader would fill in blanks with thier own words. A new staff member could run it as an activity. Not only would it show that they can handle multiple players, but also, it would greatly help the community as a whole by enriching vocabulary skills. =D ![]() Fuck you, Photobucket.

Let's go more in-depth with the tasks. What would you add or change about them? Yeah. I was tossing out a rather abstractly detailed idea. >.> But building sorta off of Goku Jr.'s idea. read it a couple times, you should get it, lol.

Task As the RPG grows bigger it must expand. From the Shop page, to the techniques to accommodate the new power houses, and even the planets. this is your task for this round. Each team will create a planet. Upon this planet you will need; a name, a travel time, at least 3 special people that live upon this planet, and a few new shop items that will be available upon this planet only. There should also be one stipulation around this planet. That stipulation can be anything from a Tp increase due to gravity to a determination level requirement to even step foot upon the planet, just make it make sense. Task Demands: 1 Custom planet name/description, 1 special distance to planet, 3 minimum specific people residing on planet, 5 minimum shop items, 1 planetary bonus. ...
by Super Buu Task Until recently, Flubbs was a fairly small RPG, and so most rule-breaking has simply been dealt with on a case-to-case basis. As the RPG grows, however, the staff have realised that the warning system is in a dire need of an update. Your mission is to revamp the warning system, deciding how rulebreakers are dealt with and how severe their punishments are (depending on the offense). Make sure to have specific criteria laid out for each offense (what counts as a flame, etc). Task Demands: Warning system based upon an offense level method, Specific protocal on dealing with infractions ---
by Violet Tasks Part 1. Quests We need new quests. Your task is to create a new quest for two planets along with requirements, rewards, etc. The twist, is to create quests that will link together somehow, so the player can choose one, and go on sort of a tour of the Flubbs universe, and link all these quests together. If all quests are completed by the same player(s), there should be a bonus. Come up with a suitable bonus. Task Demands: Quests upon two planets linked together 2. Initiation Moderator initiation should include a summary of what they hope to accomplish during thier tenor as mod. Your job is to make a list of what a moderator does, such as responsibilities, and what area you are good at, so that you can be assigned accordingly. Are you good at organizing rosters, or scouting the join forum? Are you best suited to help people with their roleplaying, or are you one of those people that like to patrol for activities that break the rules? Task Demands: Personal feelings and responsibilities of a moderator and their jobs 3. Organizing your first saga Your task is to organize a saga, from start to finish, including what rewards will be handed out. Make an outline of your saga, a timeline of what will happen once certain requirements are met, and how you plan to run it. Will you need a separate forum? How will it be organized? Task Demands: 1 Saga, 1 Saga outline of timeline and event requirements, List of required pieces to complete saga. ...
Supposing these are our final product, I've etched out the main aspects of what would be asked of each task. I'll be on later tonight to add my own into the tasks but of as right now I'm about to step out, my apologies. Be back in a few.

Gah, fell asleep last night. >.>
Anyway, starting with Murasaki's task, I was thinking of keeping the minimum of items created for the shop but then decided against. It would act like the minimum word count in a write-up, meaning that they would more often then not bullshit the majority or even draw from some other source without putting any real pride in their work. I'm bringing this up as a debatable cause for the group to discuss considering what may or may not be seen as a challenge by others. The planet information I think we should want to keep though as it provides a nice wide variation for acceptability given the different outcomes that it could have with what contestants come up with. The warning system creation is straight forward with what it demands making it almost an obvious choice to keep, there isn't much to be said nor changed about it. Right on the money, SB. Violet's ideas are also a beautiful thing, it would give more of an Rpg feel to have each quest vital to the completion of the last. Could base this on individual planets or somehow have the two planets connect with each other through the quests being done. The second task though seems to be difficult to judge from... many people have different thoughts about what a moderator's different jobs should be making it a bit harder to decide on this. I think this to be just a way for reviewing staff to glimpse at what would be offered by a contestant, not necessarily basing any decision other then personal feeling of the person upon. The closing third task is the last piece of substantial information needed as everyone loves a good saga. Again, that idea was precisely what should be needed for a good decision between who and whom not to choose. Anyone else's input?

For Violet's, I only meant her third task, otherwise the contestants are doing 5 overall. I take it you agree with those three tasks though, 'Ten.
![]() Improvements I'd suggest; For Task 1 - Add into the description that you are not limited with what you want to have on the planet. If you come up with more ideas that fall outside the realm of NPCs/shop items or whatever, you can also include that. This is mainly just a description edit, as the contestant would likely do this anyway. For Task 2 - I feel my own description is pretty complete, and there's nothing I'd like to add, but if you guys come up with anything you feel would make it better, put it forward. For Task 3 - The only thing I'd like to add is to include how rewards will be handled in the saga. I mentioned that before, but it's not in the actual description, so just something to include for whoever writes it up. I can write up the descriptions if you guys want, I just don't want to be a task hog. ![]() Edit: Was typing this up as you did that last post, Goten, so it didn't take into account your ideas. Just throw it all together. >_> ![]() Bra Wrote:People are dumb, essentially.

I also want to add that we should have a few quests for this planet added to number one. Quests are an important part of the planet and such so I think we need to get them there as well.
08-04-2006, 05:46 PM
Was waiting for the others to throw their opinions in... If not then SB, you can write a final product if you feel confident enough. Post it up here for a last review amongst and fine tuning by the rest of the team then I do believe we're in the running for a finished product.
08-05-2006, 10:32 PM
Read it over, because this is the final draft. The only extra idea I came up with was to make the first task a group assignment, and that's been included, as you can see. If you want to change anything, make it known. Otherwise, we're ready to go gold.
Task 1 For the first task, you will be working in groups. Your job is to create a new planet for Flubbs. You?ll be given full creative license to add whatever you like, but a few things are required. There must be at least three ?special people? (NPCs) residing on the planet, and four quests to undertake. You?ll also need to specify how long it takes to reach, and include at least one shop item exclusive to this destination. In addition, you need to come up with a special ?condition? unique to your planet ? this could be anything from a weekly TP increase due to the planet?s increased gravity, or a stat requirement to even set foot there. Last, but not least, you have to give your planet a name and description. In an RPG, it is vital that the members have content left to explore, places yet to visit, and techniques still to earn. This assignment will test your ability to create new content that is balanced, yet interesting. Minimum Requirements: Planet Name and Description, 3 Special People, 4 Quests, Travel Time, 1 Exclusive Shop Item, 1 Planetary Condition/Stipulation. Task 2 Until recently, Flubbs was a fairly small RPG, and so most rule-breaking has simply been dealt with on a case-to-case basis. As the site grows, however, the staff have realized that the warning system is in a dire need of an update. Your mission is to revamp the warning system, deciding how rule-breakers are dealt with and how severe their punishments are (depending on the offense). Make sure to have specific criteria laid out for each offense (what counts as a flame, etc). Whereas Task 1 called upon your creativity and teamwork, this assignment will determine how well you handle more ?clerical? issues, whilst working alone. If you didn't do so well in the first task, this is your chance to catch up. Task 3 Your final task is based upon a concept you?re probably already familiar with. Staff sagas. You?ll be planning one of these site-wide events from start to finish. How you do it is up to you. Will you make a run the saga in a single thread, or in an entirely new forum? What?s the limit on participants? Will there be deaths? You get the idea. But it?s not all about organization skills. A gripping plot is essential to keep the participants entertained. Remember to keep it flexible enough so that unexpected actions from the members don?t throw your plan out of the window. This assignment will test both your ability to create interesting content, and your skill at handling the clerical side of staffing. In other words, it combines the aims of the last two tasks you have completed. This is your final task. Good luck! ![]() Bra Wrote:People are dumb, essentially.
