This would probably count more as the "Top Five Shit my pants" moments, but when XT and FKC teamed up. Then Ragnarok and Pitch Black. As soon as that happened, the game was already decided.

Retane's "Kill or Be Killed" Strategy

This is an example of a good strategy gone wrong.

It was based around going out and getting in as many fights as possible, with the goal being to slowly build up his arsenal and momentum, while wowing me at the same time into keeping me in the game. It worked for a long time, actually.

He turned on Nappa and survived an early fight with Seventeen. Though he joined Twenty and Krillin, he didn't have the patience to stick with them.

His strategy, while one of my favorites, had a flaw. He wasn't conservative with it. He literally got in every fight he could, even those he couldn't win against. He got too cocky, and was too sure of his chances going into the fight with Olibu.

Not exactly a good strategy, but DEFINETLY one of my favorites. If he had gone farther, things would have been really interesting.

He essentially tried to do what Mino did against CU, go into something that was OBVIOUSLY a suicide, and hope that you'd give him the points for having the balls to do it, similar to how Mino came out of it alive (barely) despite us KNOWING he was going to die. It worked with Mino b/c of how he went about it; it didn't work with Retane b/c the interest and the "shock factor" completely died out after a while.

I think that FKC had a good strategy...it fell through cause of CU, but we had a good one. Before we were going to ally with XT, we were going to attack them all out, make them use their power ups and keep Goten behind, which we did and it was working out perfectly.

What didn't happen was this. Goten was supposed to then rush in directly after the fight, powered up to SSJ and kill off the tired and unable to power up XT. Though I'm not sure if it would have worked completely or not, but I am sure that XT would have taken some punishment.

Which brings me back to...DAMN YOU CU! XD

Sounds like a very good sound plan Smile

We found Goten with the binocs due to random chance, really. But when we did, I think we all synonymously said "oh shit."

lol, it's all good. You guys did get one of the best weapons after that...so in my eyes, it was worth it for you guys.

I have to admit that the GPS was probably the best weapon available, especially once groups formed, it was easy to tell who was where.

Yeah, like I said to BJ, I think GPS should be weakened for next year. Like, make it have a limited battery supply or something, perhaps it has to recharge for a day after use. Or once the battery's dead, it's dead.

perhaps a limited useage...like 10 charges...then after that, it's useless...unless a different group gets it, then they get 10 charges...or pings, whatever you want to call it.

If I had ever run across it I would have shattered it. Fuckin' thing.

I just think it breaks the balance. If other people want to use it, cool. I think it would be more fun without it as a factor.

Number Four
FKC's "Tracking Device" Strategy

This was actually mainly done by Android 13, but as I looked on the FKC board, I could definetly see that the entire alliance had some kind of plot in it.

No one realized it until later, but FKC was manipulated things for a long time until they lost the tracking device. They would give off little tips of where people were, and in turn trick them into doing their dirty work.

That's what caused the Rag vs CU fight, as well as a bunch of others. It wasn't until about Day Two or Three until the other groups were like "wtf, fuck them."

Thirteen took the most flack for it, because it was him who gave off the location of CU to RagBlack, which resulted in CU losing three members.

Probably an overlooked, but effective strategy. Their biggest mistake, though, was letting the device fall into the hands of someone else.

Bwahaha. Although there were plenty of us pissed off about it, I got to admit that was one hell of a fight. =D Oh, yeah, sorry to Got Got for like, y'know, killing him and all. =3 I think this should have been further up on the list, either #2 or even #1 because that fight was, in my opinion, the best fight in DA, and it wouldn't have been possible if the rumor mill hadn't been going strong.

Dang, that one WAS good. I never really understood why everyone was so mad after that happened, at least concerning CU, but now I got it. Brilliant way to eliminate competition, but as the result proves, once the tracking device is gone, people can use it on you, too.

Those are good strategies. I especially like the "Go in half-cocked and fight whoever and whenever. My gameplan in a DA a long long time ago was basically just rack up points and zeni from NPCs like a mad man. That was the game plan for 2005, but I inadvertantly went around fighting people ten times my power level.

Anyways, great stuff.

FKC waited a while before messaging me to tell me of any locations, and I think the reason was because they knew that I'd catch it immediately. The moment I received a message, I was suspicious and wrote them in my notebook as a likely candidate of the GPS or some other scope. Then I looked through their roleplays, though I don't remember what I found. I did something similar, where as soon as someone was killed, I asked the dead person "What location were you at when you died, man? Just curious as to how close you were to me =)" and they'd be alike "B-4, why?" and I'd go there, and OLO there was someone there having used up all their movement and tired from a transformation.

Number Three
Android 20 and Krillin's "Hide-Out" Strategy

Boring. Dull.

Wtf, 10th and 8th place?

These two literally stayed out of fights the entire game after they met up. While both survived some early fights alone, once the got together, they stayed out of trouble and coasted the entire way.

They pretty much watched everyone kill each other, while sipping coffee and reading a book.

BUT, no one can say they didn't bring it writing-wise. Despite never getting an event, or something to roleplay off of, the two constantly brought their A-Game when it came down to the writing portion.

They pissed off a lot of people for hiding out while others had to earn their spots by surviving fights. Whether you respect it or you hate it, it worked. Both made the finals, and both had a great standing in the game.

And btw, even though it's not on the list, the "Graverobbers" strategy that Veggie and Rei did was beautiful. That's how Olibu died. They would ask the person who died where they died, and then they would go and pick up the spoils.
