The Syntech Corporation is taking Dante's Abyss to the next level with the newest competitve fighting contest. The name, which isn't actually confirmed yet, is Dante's Abyss: Conquest
This will be a war simulation taking place on the planet Dante. There will be soldiers, cities, villages, civilans, everything. As usual, no one will actually be killed in the contest, as everyone is protected by the newest technology in the "collars."
I'll incorporate bases, units, morale, weaponry, sieges, everything. It's going to be a whole new way to fight.
We'll have, off the top of my head, 3-4 sides fighting against each other for total conquest. There can be mutinies, surrenders, spies, all the like.

Doesn't sound a thing like what I would envision DA to be like, but I'm all for it.

Just to clarify, it's not gonna replace the regular DA. This is an entity all to itself. A seperate saga. The regular DA is not being shafted

Does it sound good, though? As a saga?

Sounds great as a saga, I was just worried that this was going to be the new vision for DA itself. As a spinoff, I'm down.

Yea, no way is the classic DA going away.
I'd like to do this around New Year's, but I know Mario had plans for a saga so if he has the time, I'd want him to do it

Yea. If you think you're going to be lethargic and/or apathetic towards the magic saga, then I'd like to at least help you flesh it our, Rad.

So, I'm basing this on nothing, but I don't think I'll be ready to do it by the time BJ has this ready to go, or by the time PC3 is over (that includes downtime, btw). I'll work on it, but its better to plan for me not being ready.
Couple questions about the new stuff, BJ. Would you use the same style of grid-based movement and all that jazz? And would characters have the option of leading a squad into battle vs commanding troops from the frontline?
EDIT:

When I actually get it going, I'm not holding back.

Yes, but rather then an island, it'd probably be like a whole country/continent. My photoshop skills such on flashy stuff, but I can handle making a map.

Yes. And on the same note, some character may choose to be a soldier over being a commander

That's where I was going with that. Rad, for example, would be more comfortable as a soldier than a commander of almost any kind.

Coolio. I'm just hyped to gain as much saga leading experience as I can.

Wars aren't my most fav type of saga, considering thats all they ever seem to be. However, if I have someone to RP with (Rad) then I doubt I'll have a problem enjoying it. On my own I don't think I'd like the idea.
I do feel along the same lines as Rei, that these styles don't replace DA as it had been. I still favour the old DA's, not that your style is bad, it's just different.

Yea, 18, what you said and what Reijin said are completely different.
He was saying he doesn't want this style to replace my normal single-player style.
What you said is that you dislike my style all-together. Sorry you don't like it, but unless you want to host DA, it's staying this way.
Anyway, this isn't just another war saga. It's a competition, where-as normal sagas are just wars against the big bad NPC

We can get 18 to enjoy the saga if she has Rad to rp with like she said Just give the two a room at some point during the saga and BLAM.

No really. I was laughing, despite of how old and annoying it annoying.
This sounds a lot like Risk (the board game) a la Chubbs.

I think it'll be awesome. While it's still DA, it'll be hard to compare it to the original version I made because the roleplaying is like way different. Rather then camping out with some friends, you're in a whole unit of soldiers

Wow, like I didn't see that coming, Rei. Way to beat an old joke around, bravo.
I'm sorry BJ, I misread what he was saying. You know what? I said it before, I'll say it again, yours just weren't as entertaining. However, FoF2 was fun, your version of DA was not. Contrary to popular belife, some people enjoy writing their own fights, and not leaving things up to chance. Just my little opinion there, you do your thing, and I'll do mine.
Oh, by the way, no one ever said they needed DA to be run, you just kinda swooped in, so yeah, like I had a chance to bother.
On another note, regardless of playing with Rad, or fucking Rad, or just all around talking about Rad, this DA will be enjoyable if it's not extirely the same as the last one, for me. Take that as you will, but as I said, the reason why I enjoyed the other one was because I felt I was actually playing, and not lopping along.
I know my saying anything about this will go over yours heads, as some people are stubborn =P. That's fine, I'm just pointing out that I didn't mean to misread Rei, and these are just the things that bothered me. Maybe this DA won't be so bad.
EDIT: I want to add, I think doing it a few weeks after new years would be lovely. Some of us have plans around that date.
