Harry Osborn never becomes the Hobgoblin, he becomes the second Green Goblin. Common mistake, but don't let it happen again. Hobgoblin is a completely unrelated character. See these links for further information:

I'm the typical guy that watched the cartoon show rather than the comics. But I always wondered who the Hobgoblin was and if it was any importance in the comics at all.
