Final Fantasy XII

To take a hammer to FFVII is to take the statue of liberty and destroy it with a wrecking ball. It's one of those things that you simply don't do. >=O

I haven't gotten in-depth with anything yet reading wise with FFXII so how is the magic/summons/skills going to be done? I remember the sphere grid from FFX was good though the whole materia system in VII was better IMO.

I think FF8 was the pinnicle of innovation in the Final Fantasy series. Everyone saw that you had to draw magic and threw a fit. Its an amazing system, though, that lets you set things up any way you want. The story was decent enough, not my favorite though. Highly underrated game is the point.

FF8 varied up the weapons quite nicely, made upgrading them a lot more interesting then simply buying from some shop. The drawing magic was interesting because you could hook those into stats and gain additional points through that.

S'bitch if you don't pick up exactly where to go after a cut scene. Spent probably the better part of ten hours alone wandering the map.

I never understood the FF8 junction system. Ever. I really tried, too. =( I mean, I was able to complete the game (pretty much) without it, but I never liked not knowing wtf it was all about.

Bah, noobs.

Final Fantasy Tactics for life.

I liked FF VII and IX. Hated VIII and X. I've yet to play FFXII, we'll see how that goes. Don't know if I'm trading in my PS2 soon or not.

I loved the Draw/Junction system. I really, really did. I just didn't like drawing from monsters over and over.

After playing FFVIII again recently, it's bumped up past VII and IX on my list. So, my list looks something like this:

FFX > FFVIII > FFIX > FFIX > FFVI > FFVII > FFX-2 > FFI

I'm just waiting for someone to go ZOMG FFI ROCKS, but I really don't care. I played it, got very bored, and put it back down. Sure, it might've been great for its time, but that sure as hell doesn't mean it's better than these other games.

God Tactics was great, the handheld version was less then what I had hoped for though. Also there was some classes that guest units could reach that you couldn't get to through training so that was a little bit of a downer.

Krillin, I <3 you.

Finally someone sees it like I do. FFX was better than FFVII. The storyline pwned all IMO. Also, the sphere grid was solid. The lands were awesome, and the monsters were powerful, though the sphere grid mad it possible to ass-rape everything.

I've done that with 8 and 9. Like, literally up to the final boss. On 10, I'm up to crazing flying Seymour at the top of that Rhonso mountain place. It's like some kind of crazy tradition not to finish the game for me.

That guy always kicks my ass... turning all my people undead and casting Life on them. And banishing my summons. Wtf? I hate him so much.

Oh, and Kefka is the coolest villian ever. Except his annoying laugh, but I can deal with that.

FFX's story is the best out of any game, book, movie, anything. Ever.

That's not fanboy speak, that's the real deal.

I hated Final Fantasy Tactics. Too fucking slow. I don't have two hours to spend on a fight. I love grid-type strategy games, but that was too much for me. And I loved Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, even if the story was lame.

I completely concur.

Now, you FFVII orgy fanatics, the storyline to FFVII was good, yes. You cannot compare it to FFX's though. FFX's was much better, about three times better.

I hated FFX's story. Like... it just wasn't there for me. At all. I also really didn't like the Sphere Grid. I know I'm in the minority here, but that's the truth.

=(

Glad someone else appreciated the draw/junction system. I always wished enemies could have, like, dropped magic or that you could have bought it at special stores or something. Draw would have still been really useful, but not necessary to keep your characters up to snuff.

I was really impressed with Tactics Advanced, considering it was a handheld game. That's something a lot of people forget when talking about it. For the sheer sake of battery life you can't make a GameBoy game that people have to play for hour-long chunks at a time. Jump in the car, play a 15 minute battle, then save and call it good. They had that down pat.

Tactics was just awesome. I loved that game.

FFX bored the hell out of me. I remember playing, getting to some island where some d00ds were going to fight Sin with Machines or w/e, and I was like:

"This sucks."

I loved FF VIII, though I could never beat that Cactaur guy.

OMG!
OMG!

Somebody agrees with me!!!!
I loved FF7, FF8, and FF9, BUT HATED 10!!!

Recoome, you are my new best friend, you have absolutley no choice in the matter. It is already finalized.

I'd say Fire Emblem is another title that could rival that, forgot about that game entirely till you mentioned playing something on the go.

How the hell do you multiply your hits? I've been doing it every so often but I've failed to identify exactly how you can attack in succession.

I don't believe Square has ever done the "Make it for one generation of consoles just before the launch of another one, then put that game on the new generation as well". Ever.

I'm pretty sure 9 came out right before the ps2 launched and there was no re-release, so you're right.

Gah, I just checked and it doesn't come out in the UK until the 24th. Lame.
