Final Fantasy XII

How the hell do you multiply your hits? I've been doing it every so often but I've failed to identify exactly how you can attack in succession.

Its mostly random. Its based on a combination of Speed (I'm pretty sure) and the type of weapon you're using. Example: Vaan with a dagger with mutli more often than Balthier with a Broadsword.

I'm less certain about the luck part, but I know it changes from weapon to weapon.

I don't think I'm a huge fan of the liscence board. I wouldn't mind it so much if you didn't have to buy liscences for all of your equipment. If it were just, say, accessories and weapons I'd be ok with that. Or something. I'm going to end up doing some massive side quest to get this amazing sword that I won't be anywhere near the liscence for, just wait.

Aside from that, I'm increasingly impressed with the rest of the game. Gambits are turning out to be just as interesting to play around with as I was hoping they would be.

FF6 is the peak of RPG gaming.

The peak of all RPGs is between FF6 and Chrono Trigger, in my opinion, but then we're not just talking about Final Fantasy.

I'll give you Chrono Trigger, but it just hasn't been the same since their Era

No question about it.

FFX's storyline completely craps on FF6's and Chrono Triggers. Both CT and FF6 were great games though.

10's story has nothing on 6, in my opinion. FFVI, to date, has one of the best stories of any RPG.

I'd have to disagree. None of the characters were really amazing. I never got a feel for who Locke was, never got an appreciation for Terra's loneliness in a different world, never cared about Relm, or Gau, or any of those characters. I mean, yeah. It's because of the capabilities of the systems then. We get super sweet cutscenes nowadays, with great graphics, and opportunities to show the emotions on the faces. This adds the opportunity for new kinds of subtleties in the dialogue, without risking misunderstanding.

But yeah. That's my reasoning for FFX. Yet, since some are considering offering a conflicting argument to be the spawn of Satan, I'll save myself here by saying that this is just my opinion, and everyone is entitled to their own.

Okay, I think I've got a grasp on this 'more then one hit' thing... I believe it has something to do with pushing the L analong when a hit is made against the target.

Not trying to contradict what Rad said in any way, I saw that these little models are given once certain requirements are met in game and one of them happens to be hitting a target 300 times.

Edit: Or I could've misunderstood, making it 300 seperate times unlinked... =/ *shrugs*

Its three hundred seperate times. Possibly the easiest thing to get in any game ever.

I'm fairly certain that doesn't have anything to do with, but I'll definitely give it a try next time I play. If figuring out how to hit 3 or 4 times regularly means I'm wrong, that's fine by me.

please do let me know when/if you figure it out, I just watched a soldier pound on a guy for a 4 hit combo and I can only hit once every few seconds. =(

And did anyone else find the part after you battle the rats difficult? I just can't find where I'm trying to go.

I found the map to actually be really good at telling you where to go.

So far as I've seen, a Pole (might have been a spear, but I'm guessing Pole) has some massive multi-hit capabilities. I got hit 6 times from one guy.

Daggers have been working out pretty well for me so far. Especially since you can use shields with them. Picking up a couple Shield Block augments really helps, too. A few things I found useful for speeding up attacks:
-switch to daggers (they're the fastest of the weapons you can get toward the beginning of the game, and pretty even in power compared to swords)
-get the first couple Heavy Armor Liscences (for some reason, one of the heavy armor Chest pieces gives you a speed bonus)
-make a bee-line for the "Swiftness" augment (its a couple rows down and many columns left of steal; it decreases the time it takes to make an action by 10% and I'm positive you can get more than one).

One thing to remember about Swiftness and Speed, though, if that they won't effect the delay from using an item, since all of that is "recharge" time, and not "casting" time.
