Is this any good? If it's worthy of a buy, I'll get it sometime near christmas if I can save up until then.

The character design looks awesome, I know that much.

I have it, I barely play it anymore. I'm not going to say to much about it because there are hardcore fans and I don't want to get mugged by each of them. >.>

I loved it, but now I hate it.

I'm a PvP person but CoH is definately not a PvP game yet. It's all about PvE which is very good. It's not a big raiding game except for a certain raid which you'll learn about from playing.

It's mostly a PUG + Instance Game I'm not sure if you know what those terms mean in MMORPG World but hopefully you do. It's worth the money to try imo I played it for a bit but grew bored of the PvE which is redundant but you'll form your own opinion.

The character creation is fun, so many possible costumes, don't worry if you don't like the costume you make as later on in the game you get more costumes of your choosing.

Choose Justice Server if you join since that's where everyone on Chubbs plays.

I'm really glad I read all of this. I was going to buy it to try it out, by my friend suggested Guild Wars instead, of which I haven't heard of myself yet.

Uh for Guild Wars, same thing kinda to CoH.

PvP is there but if your guild isn't a PvP only than you won't be good, plus you'll need to practice a lot to be great in PvP.

PvE is all instance with groups or solo.

Only difference is, no monthly payment.

After a while playing it, the Character Creation honestly becomes more fun than the actual game. Not a slight on characters there - they pwn - but it's had consistently more content put into it nearly every issue, where actual PLAYABLE content falls by the wayside.

Yeah, It's a content based game I'm out for. The endless grind just to get hammered by a stronger warrior the second you go PvP just isn't my kind of game.

Guild Wars has a level cap of 20. You'll hit it pretty fast too.

If you don't care about monthly payment and can afford it, go CoH.

Nice, I think I'm starting to like it again. I'm used to grinding, so there isn't a doubt I'll get sick of it when I get started.

My only qualm is, that the enemies look a bit repetitive. Just groups of thugs dressed in different clothing.

Most games can be repeitive, CoH is I won't lie, it's the reason I stopped playing, all missions are pretty much the same lvl 1-50.

The enemies are somewhat repeitive but it's hard to make each enemy unique and what not.

eh, not really. The 40-50 missions are really cool, with the archvillians and the alt dimensions. I didnt think you played long enough to get there though.

No I didn't. >.<
I got bored by the time I got in the 30s and made a new character and repeated until I got bored overall. >.<

In the beginning, yeah, there are several groups of enemies that look similar, but it also depends on where you are. You could go fight the zombie-esque Vazhilok, or the mechanical Clockwork, beat some of the Circle of Thorns, it really depends on the player. Its definitely easy to get sucked into Outcasts/Hellions/Skulls/Lost who all look pretty similar, but if you're willing to jump around the zones, then you can fight some pretty diverse enemies.

Also, with Police Band missions from Issue 8, you can choose between three missions you want to take. Occasionally all three will be the same group of enemies, but you usually get a choice, meaning you can really gear your toon to fighting a specific set of villians, if you want. Case-in-point, my Invulnerability/ tanker only has decent resistance to smashing a lethal damage, so I try to fight Skulls, Trolls, or Vazhilok when I can. Hellions, Arachnos, and Circle of Thorns are a pain because of my poor elemental and energy resistances.

Like any game, you get out of it what you put into it. If you just run the same thing as everyone else, yeah, its going to get real boring real fast. If you play around with different contacts, different zones, Task Forces, story arcs and so on you can get a whole bunch of different content each time you play.

Guild Wars, since the comparison was made, is ridiculously linear compared to CoH. Yeah, there's no monthly fee, but GW is way more like a LANing an otherwise single player game than it is a co-op (only talking about PvE, of course).

As for PvP, a lot of people have said they really enjoy PvPing. You really have to build your character around it, but it can certainly be done. And there are a bunch of different ways to do it, too. Great example happened a few days ago: when I think about making a PvP character, I generally considering maximizing my resistances and my status protection, because in MMOs I generally prefer the characters with lower damage, but higher survivability. Well Waff had jumped into a PvP match and was up against a Corruptor villian. For those who don't know, Corruptors are moderate damage/low hit point Archetypes with buff/debuff powers. Waff players a scrapper, which have great damage and the second best survivability of the Hero Archetypes. Speaking in generalities, the scrapper should win that fight. Thise corruptor, however, had built his character are the slowing effects of ice powers. Waff can probably tell you better than I can, but his Hero was pretty much shut down. So much Slow had been stacked on him that he his powers pretty much weren't recharging and he moved so slowly that he couldn't get within striking distance of the range-oriented corruptor. It was a great execution of a very concept-based character.

My point is that PvP is a lot more diverse than people in CoH give it credit for. Just because everyone plays energy melee Stalkers or stone armor Tankers doesn't mean that's the only way to PvP.
