Standing tall and proud only a few hundred yards from the city outskirts, the green armored warrior was again in a fighting situation. He?d been informed a few days ago of it?s location from the outcast soldiers in his new fort, and had no intentions of passing it by. Sixteen scanned the area multiple times over, planning out his attack, and capture of the area.

He noticed many rural houses and small buildings around the outskirts of this city, ones ripe for the taking. The android also caught sight of a large tower similar to the one he?d captured only a few days ago. ?Koola, I want you to take twenty five support units and twenty five artillery units to that tower. I want it under United?s flag by nightfall, and that is an order!? the machine monotoned to his changeling lieutenant.

Koola nodded once, and darted off to gather his troops. The orange hared apparatus watched his lieutenant, and Flemings muster the small hoard of units and march off for a few minutes. Turning to his own soldiers, he noticed a rather short and long hared messenger running towards him.

?Sir, I am a messenger for General Paragus of the United Army. He has arrived near the southern tip of the city, and has only a few men. Paragus asks for your advice,? Spouted the messenger, breathing slightly heavier than the norm.

?Tell him to stay to the outskirts of the city, take as many houses and small buildings as you can without taking a huge risk. Make your way up to our army, where he will surely find safety,? Sixteen replied softly.

General Paragus?s messenger whirled around, and began his trot back to his leader. ?So I?ve got some back-up this time, I hope he turns out to be of some worth,? the android giant thought, calling over one of his ranked officers.

?Take all the support units forwards to the rural area?s of this city. Take every house and building, then set up the artillery units and bombard their inner city. Tell the support units to be ready for a guerilla type warfare throughout the rural areas, many soldiers will be hidden amongst the houses and civilians,? the General ordered, pointing his fingers to the scattering figures throughout the streets.

The officer nodded, and he too bolted off to prepare for battle. Slowly the mechanical united soldier made his way to the three support units he?d commanded the day before. ?Are you three prepared for another mission?? he asked quietly.

?Yes sir, we are ready to move out this minute,? one of the soldiers replied with full confidence.

?Then give me two pistol?s, and a few clips. We will head into the rural area tonight, I?ve got to find a suitable building for my command post,? Sixteen implied, with a smile.

(OOC: Paragus and Koola, you?ve got your orders in this post.)

?Hm...the tower has only a few guards protecting the front gate, so the remaining soldiers must be sitting inside, waiting for something to happen. Boy, are they going to be surprised.? Lieutenant Koola and his unit of soldiers were inside artillery firing range of the Outcast Tower Sixteen ordered them to take. It would provide an excellent veiw point to see if enemies were approaching. Luckily, it was only a tower, and wasn?t as heavily guarded like a fort was.

The changeling turned around to his troops, ready to give his plan. The majority of his men had served him in the last battle, and were loyal to him. The remainder of the unit were wondering if he could really lead an armed force to invade a stronghold the Outcasts had built. Koola was going to make them regret those thoughts.

?Alright men.? he began. ?Normally, a leader would only send his artillery to fire upon the enemy base for several days until they surrendered, to minimize casualties in the war. However, that could take days before they would give up, maybe even weeks. Precious time would be lost just trying to take a simple tower. Time, time will be one our side, gentlemen. Time, will not be on the Outcasts side, or Dantes side, or any others side. No! It will be on the United side!? Koola paused for a moment, while all his men shouted ?Horah!?

?This assault, though small in forces, will play a big role in eventually taking over the entire map. The United army will claim victory, and you men will be able to say, ?Hey! I was in there.? Who?s with me!?? All his men shouted back in response ?I am!?

?Alright, here?s the plan. Flemings will be in charge of the artillery and will begin firing on the tower, hopefully killing the half dozen men stationed outside. While you keep them occupied, my support unit and I will sneak behind them, and infiltrate their perimeter. Once inside, they?ll be taken completely by surprise. Once you hear gun fire, move up closer to the tower and surround them. Then they will have to surrender. If executed correctly, it will take no less than an hour and we will have no casualties. Got it? Good. I?m counting on all of you.?

*20 minutes later...*

The tower was under attack, and all six outside guards were laying outside the field of craters made from the artilleries attacks, dead. The 25 soldiers and Koola were ready to charge and take out the tower in a moments notice. On the top of the tower, a bakers dozen men were carrying all there weapons to the top, awaiting to fight off the army they knew would be approaching. Too bad, thought Koola, they?ll be almost defenseless when we strike.

Even though Koola was in a perfect position, his men twitching, waiting for their leader to give the signal to attack and kill some Outcast scum. However, the changeling was beginning to have second thoughts about killing his first army. He had been with them at the beginning of the tournament, and it felt weird killing them. But he quickly dismissed the thought and remembered that he was a United soldier now, and he could never betray them now. An artillery round hit the gate of the tower, making the entrance wide open. He signaled his men to quickly secure the entrance, and they were off.

When they all were inside the bottom of the tower, they noticed two things. One, no one was guarding the entrance. Two, there were extra guns placed all around the floor, incase they had to act quickly to protect the entrance.

?The fools!? Koola said aloud. ?They never saw any soldiers coming, so they left their stuff here to have once we arrived. Too bad they never thought that we would already be here.? Some of the soldiers laughed with him, but quickly shut up when another artillery shell hit the wall near them. ?Kill the ones holding weapons and no one else. Capture them, hogtie them, I don?t care, but try to keep as many as possible alive.?

The men nodded as the headed up the stairs. The men reached a door, shaped like the ones an old seventh-century castle would have. It was creaked open, only a slight. Not a soul heard them coming. Koola peaked his head in the doorway to see who was inside. Nine guards, four of which were holding firearms. He motioned his men to stand back, implying that he could easily handle the job himself. After his men were out of sight, he kicked down the door, much to the dismay of the occupants inside.

He aimed the gun at the one closest to him, and fire three bullets into his skull. His dead body reflexly pulled the trigger, and fired several shots into another weapon holding soldier. Without wasting any time, he swung his semi-automatic machine toward another soldier, trying to pull his gun up to aim, he fired another three shots, this time into his arm and shoulder. The impact made him release the rifle he was holding onto the ground. Finally, he ran up to the last armed Outcast and slammed his fist into his face. The guard staggered for a moment, then tried to regain his balance. His last sight was Koola?s gun as it fired three final shots into his eye.

The unarmed guards instinctively put their hands up, surrendering. Koola couldn?t hear any more artillery firing, knowing Flemings had put his final phase of his plan into action. He called his men up to the secured room readying themself for when the Outcast troops will rush down to see what the matter is. Two soldiers were tying up the Outcasts that surrendered, while the remainder were aiming at the other door, ready to shoot the moment the door fly open. Koola knew, but the Outcasts didn?t. The tower was already theirs.

The sun had fallen, and the only noise he could hear was the sounds of Koola?s artillery fire in the distance. The night air was fairly humid, and the stars where shining dimly in the night sky. It was the perfect night for an ambush.

?Alright boys, we?re out! Turn on the night vision, and lets hit the first house hard,? Sixteen whispered, removing a piece of his outer skin, fingering a switch, and placing the plate back into place.

Running at a quite jog, the android warrior led his small company into the city?s outskirts. Holding two ki pistols in each hand, the orange hared machine inched his way towards the first house. Only one light was flickering from within the house, and two shadows were clearly visible.

Motioning his units to hold steady, Sixteen crept to the door silently. Slowly lifting his hand, motioning a three second count, then with a massive boot he crashed the door inwards. The two inside weren?t startled at all, but rather ready for battle. Instantly the general noticed the two guns pointed towards him, and leapt to his left. Flicking his right hand forwards, fingering the trigger twice, Sixteen launched two ki beams out of his pistol.

Both waves connected with the closest warrior, one slicing his entire arm off, and the other blowing a fifty sent piece hole through his brain. Trembling the second outcast soldier aimed his gun towards the kneeling android, but was quickly gunned down by the three support units firing at once.

?Good work guys, search the upstairs! Any civilians you find, make sure they aren?t in shock and understand that we are the good guys. Get them on our side ok! I want a flare sitting outside the door when you?ve cleared the house, signaling our guys to move in. When the five support units get here, I want you three to lead them to the next house. Do the same tactic with each house, until we?ve taken fifty houses, and the municipal building I saw earlier,? Sixteen ordered, as he congratulated his men before exiting.

Taking a quick breath, the android darted off to the next house. It was only about thirty feet away, but was fully lit. Apparently they?d heard the gunshots from only moments ago and became startled. Wasting no time, he placed his massive boot into the front door, completely taking it off the hinges once again.

This time his night vision caught the figure of three young girls, and two older people. ?There are no outcast soldiers in this house I presume?? Sixteen questioned, scanning the living room.

?N?O, they aren?t in this house. Who are you, and what are you doing?? asked the older male.

?I am Android Sixteen, General of the United army. I?ve come to take this city for our leader Garlic Jr. You understand who rules this city, and that they have lost the war? You understand that you are under the bad guys flag?? the apparatus questioned.

Both parents nodded in agreement.

?Will you surrender peacefully and become citizens of the united army? We will not harm you in any way, you will have all the benefits you could dream of I can assure you,? Sixteen implied.

Both parents once again nodded in agreement.

?Then I will bring a few of my soldiers here to talk with you,? he monotoned, as he exited the house tossing an open flare on the ground.

(OOC: Were taking all the rural houses, and closing in on a three story municipal building. That will be my headquaters, and from there we will begin the main battle.)

Exiting the doorless entryway of the newest United home, Sixteen noticed hundreds of bright flares popping up around the area. His night vision picked up many packets of his own troops scurrying about, entering houses, and blasting the enemy. It had been only fifteen minutes and his entire support unit had taken the whole packet of rural houses.

One of the many units running about, darted up to their general. ?Sir, we?ve surrounded the municipal building. They wish to see you sir!? called the United soldier.

The old model android nodded to his unit, and followed behind him to the building that would soon be his main base. As it came into seeing distance, the machine gazed upon a freshly built three-story building. It seemed to be sturdily built, with many windows, and probably hundreds of rooms.

?Where is your leader? I want to see his face before I blow this building and all you suckers around it,? A tall outcast soldier boomed from atop a balcony window.

?Get a sniper on him and wait for my signal, move it,? Sixteen whispered to the support unit he?d been running with. ?I am the general Sixteen of United Army, what is on your mind?? he questioned.

?I know this is the building your after, and I don?t plan on letting you get your filthy metallic hands on it. I?ve got this place rigged with bombs, and here is the detonator. You can?t do shit metal man,? the obviously crazed soldier laughed, holding up a small gray object in his left hand.

?You are quite right, I am after this building. But if it?s so important to you that you?d blow it up, then go right ahead, I can have one built just like it in one day.? Monotoned the orange hared apparatus, twitching his left hand for the sniper to fire at will.

?Then so be if fool,? he outcast screamed thrusting the gray detonator high into the air. At that exact moment, a loud bang, and a blaze of yellow ki whizzed by the androids right ear. Sixteen?s hair fluttered as the wave passed him by, but he did not move an inch. The ki shot screamed passed the general, then like a child with a dandy lion the outcasts soldier was popped off his shoulders, dropping him instantly.

?Good shot sniper! Now I want twenty five units in that building, sweep it hard,? the general boomed, watching his order take blossom. Moving throughout the massive groups of artillery and support units going over there many duties, the android fighter noticed that the sun was beginning to rise. He?d accomplished his first goal in time, now on to the main city.

Sir, stay to the outskirts of the city, take as many houses and small buildings as you can without taking a huge risk. Make your way up to our army, where you will surely find safety. Thats straight from 16" The soldier delivered the orders to Para and he fully understood.

"At ease soldier. Thank you" The cadet fell back into line

The stars lit up the night sky above Freelorn. A jagged cliff stood over the edge of the city giving off a beautiful view. Thats where Paragus and his small army stood. He peered over the edge of the giant rock and smiled with delight. He would have to pass through the plains of the countr side first before he made into the heart of the city.

"Freelorn. You have eluded me for fare too long" He snickered with a grin. With one last look it was ready to begin.

The white glove of the saiyan warrior extended into the air and the signal was given. The small army was on the move and the city was just about in their grasp. Para hummed low to himself getting ready for what ever challenges he may face in the future, but tonight there would be none. The moon lay like a giant lantern guiding the path through the rural area of Freelorn.

The were almost completely down the cliff now and the plains were clearly visible. The slow march slowly shifted into a quickened pace and then into a mad sprint. They still remained quit as they paced into house after house after house. They were well into the country side now and they began the take over off all the buildings.

Soldiers packed into every building they passed and took them as quickly as they could. Paragus found the expedition as easy as taking candy from a baby, but he knew that it would only reamin this way for so long. The grass was little damp and the tiny drips of water gave of a bright shimmer under the moon.

A cold wind blew and it seemed that it was over. All of the properties he had been sent to take had been taken it was on the meeting grounds now. It was a job well done. A job well done.

There was a desolate and calm silence in the plains now. Para had done his job and now it was time for the next step. He picked himself off the ground and began to walk toward his next destination. Each gasp of air felt more precious to the saiyans lungs, it had been an exhausting day and it would only get worse. Sweat rolled eradically down his face and created a maze of persiparation on his forehead.

He bent over and took a deep breath. A little thing like being tired wasnt gonna stop him, it would take much more than that. The grass grew taller as he walked along it was almost up to his thighs now. A cool wind blew and it felt good on the damp head of the saiyan warrior. Leaves fell down of the swaying trees and landed in almost a perfect path in front of the saiyan. It was a beautiful night, but there was no time to enjoy the view. Over the hills the giant sun peered over the land and began to rise into the sky.

A bright light poured over Para's face, it was now dawn. He quickened his pace and could feel that he was getting closer with each passing second. He quickly reached into his side pocket and looked at his directions and placed it right back again.

"Not too much longer now" Paragus whispered to himself picking up the pace just a little bit more.

A tiny rural town came into view and the saiyan cracked a tired smile. He had reached his destination and it was about time too. A row of 50 houses lay straight into the town like a guideline of where to go. All the houses looked the same. Each had creaky window shudders, chipped paint, tall grass on the front lawn, and a feeling of emptyness.

Not matching the pattern laid before him, A giant building appeared in the square of the town. It was about 3 stories high and seemed sturdier then some of the things he passed on the way over.

"Home Sweet Home" Para muttered under his breath. A large man walked out of the building and stood in its doorway. Para had arrived at his destination and was about ready to recieve his next orders.

"Well you must be General Paragus on United Army. I am Android Sixteen, also a general under Garlic Jr. I'm glad to meet you, and to know your unit is still safe, but you will not be fighting any longer. An entourage has come to my base, in it was the mayor of this city, saying that the outcasts have lost the war and they surrender the city to us," the machine fighter explained, scanning his obviously saiya-jin general.

"Also, i've recieved word from Garlic Jr. He has told me to move out, and take all land that we come across. Will you be joining me?" Sixteen asked, calmy watching his officers bolt around the area gathering troops for the march north.

The saiya-jin warrior nodded in agreement, as he too swirled around to muster his own force. His super computer brain knew exactly what was going to happen, and had almost had the outcome pinpointed. It was only just a matter of time before they'd encounter the last remaining army, and then he would be in a fight for his survival.

"Alright men, i've got orders from the Commander to take everything in sight. That means i need you guys working had all the time from now on. Things won't be as easy as they were these past days, but i know we can and will succeed. We will fight till the very end for our army, and we WILL WIN!" the android general boomed.

His crowd of United soldiers gave a massive battle cry, one of confidence in their cause. Sixteen's speech was rather short, but it hit the right buttons, and his troops were high on themselves. "IT'S TIME TO MOVE OUT," Sixteen screamed, marching out of his just taken city.

OOC: short, but i felt it was needed.

"Not so fast!"

With a mighty leap and a dramatic flourish, the long-haired wonder leapt directly in Android 16's path. Though he had no idea the warrior was an android, he didn't really care. This rather imposing, mohawk-bearing beast of a man seemed to think he was in charge, and that was enough for Rad. 16 came to a slow stop, throwing this saiya-jin before him under a wary eye. Rad simply took the moment in. Most of the soldiers around, and all of those within eyeshot, had stopped what they were doing, each of them whispering to their neighbor about this unforseen event. Raditzu just grinned.

"What do you want?!" an over-eager soldier demanded of the new-comer.

Rad's grin quickly faded, his dramatic pause ruined by this stupid grunt. The saiyan chuckled lightly and pointed an open palm at the soldier. Immediatly there was a murmur from those who could see the saiyan's movement. Raditzu said nothing, taking a brief moment to concentrate. His ki flowed into him, coursing through his body and coming to rest within his outstretched arm. Moments passed with no one moving. Raditzu continued to build up his energy, twisting and coiling it into his arm as one would a spring. Just before unleashing the bolt of energy Rad flashed a grin full of superiority. The soldier was knocked cleanly off his feet, as though hit by a gale-force wind, though he hadn't seen a thing.

Turning his attention away from the sprawled out soldier, Rad looked over to 16. The android looked him up and down, having been able to catch a glimpse of Rad's Quick Draw. When they locked eyes, Rad still bore a grin of confidence. In fact, so much confidence permeated from this saiyan that most would call him cocky or, more often, "an arrogant prick." They were all just jealous. Regardless, it was nice to know that at least someone in this pathetic mob of an army had the ability to appreciate a fraction of what Raditzu was capable of. The long-haired warrior's tail whipped about as he imagined how amusing it would be to watch them all struggle against his neigh unstoppable might. Or something like that. It had been a while since Rad had let himself go on a power trip, so he was making the most of it.

"I hope he's not the best you've got," Rad said as if simply musing to himself. "You're in some serious trouble if he is."

"And I suppose you've come to our rescue, then," another soldier spat at Raditzu. The soldier was helping his downed ally. The saiyan simply smiled.

"Something like that."

Sixteen?s super computer brain began working the instant he caught a glance of this new arrival. It was the same power level he?d noticed when they were lost in the plains, but now he was face to face with it. Apparently this man, no this saiya-jin, was angered by something and had no plans of calming down.

There wasn?t much the android general could do in this situation, his brain was sending messages throughout his body of the massacre that could happen if something went wrong. ?But what does he want here?? questioned the machine warrior to himself calmly.

?All United troops leave us and go work explore the city. I want to talk to this man in peace, without injury or annoyances,? the general ordered, putting a small amount of anger in his voice.

Slowly the soldiers dispersed, muttering many conspiracies and idea?s on who this new visitor could be. Many seemed very farfetched, and few had any logic at all. Sixteen waiting a few moments for all the troops to leave earshot, before he looked back to the proud saiya-jin warrior.

?Now saiya-jin, I do not approve or agree with the way you barged into my city. It was completely uncalled for, and the two soldiers you injured were unnecessary. But that is your nature I am sure, so I will or should I say, can?t do anything about it,? the apparatus explained, without any signs of emotion.

The saiya-jin fighter just shifted poses slightly then smirked. He knew that the android already knew his fate if something went wrong, and he admitted it.

?Now I am quite curious to know just why you?ve come to Freelorn City? Is it your home, or are you from a different army?? questioned the green bio armored general, hoping to get some answers.

Sixteen knew that this situation had to be taken seriously or something extremely bad could happen. His brain told him to be calm and not show any fear, ?saiya-jins are a dangerous breed and can snap at any time,? he thought to himself, assuming this man was the typical saiya-jin. Only time would tell what kind of person this fighter was.

The plains had taken their toll on the fine warrior. He could no longer sustain his consistent composure. He had enough. Dehydration had played a crucial role in his loss of vigor, and his mind had begun to slip into a state of negativity concerning the whole thing. He could not make it out of those damn plains. It was impossible to do individually, and especially with the minute amounts of supplies he oh so cleverly decided to package. He did not anticipate that the journey would take this long, or be this harsh. It had taken its toll, and he had enough.

He collapsed.

?Wait, I see one!? a man exclaimed as he rushed over to the motionless body before him. It was Gokua that lied on the ground without a sign of life. ?It?s Lieutenant Gokua!? He looked back to his fellow soldier and gave him a quick hand gesture, telling him to rush over their immediately.

He did so. ?What?s up?? he asked as he made his way over, but was soon shocked by the discovery that the other soldier made. ?Lie?Lieutenant Gokua?? His eyes quickly widened as he saw his commanding officer unconscious. He quickly removed his large backpack from his back and brought it to the sandy ground. He made haste in retrieving a few necessary supplies; he grabbed a canteen of water, a tube, and a bowl that had a hole at the bottom.

?Come on, you have to be faster than that!? the other soldier said.

?I?m going as fast as I can without fucking up, Josh!?

He attached the tube to the bowl, and placed the other end of the tube into Gokua?s mouth. Opening the canteen, he allowed the liquid to flow out into the bowl, which proceeded down the tube and into his mouth.

The alien?s face curled as a few coughs then occurred. ?He?s alive!? Josh screamed with joy. ?Alright, now we have to bring him back to Freelorn.?

Assassaination Attempt

"As the producer of Dante's Abyss: Conquest," read aloud Gokua in front of the men at the Freelorn City Plaza, "I hereby declare Generals Android 16 and Gokua, the Commander of the United Army. May they bring as much fortune to United as Garlic Jr did."

He lowered the paper and nodded to Android 16, who stood next to him.

Some mild applause was heard through the military audience. Both former Generals raised their hands and took in the honor of leading this army. Both had their own different opinions on the situation.

The opinions, however, would have to wait.

A loud shotgun blast from the right signalled the end to the ceremony. Everyone on the plaza platform ducked as pistol shots ranged through the air. Gokua hit the pavement hard and rolled down the steps while Sixteen remained crouched, reaching for a gun.

"Assassains!" Someone shouted as the military group fell into disarray.

Sixteen stood up, and with one firm shout, declared "FIND THEM!"

Kollifum turned and gave chase at the pistol-weilding traitor who had fired at the new Commanders. "This way!" He called back at a handful of men. "I see one!"

Koola was right behind the saiyan, calling forth a jolt of ki and blasting it at the would-be assassain. The attempted murderer stumbled forward, but caught himself and kept moving.

"Come on!" Kol shouted back at his companions. More gunshots fired at the traitor, but he quickly turned a corner and limped off.

The group of ten United soldiers ran around the soldiers to find a good twenty men, all dressed in United Uniforms, holding up weaponry.

The loyal United warriors stopped all together. A brief pause occured as they looked at how many spies and traitors had made it into the camp. Koola quickly realized that this operation must have been in motion for a long, long time.

"Duck!" Declared the changling prince, but it was too late.

Koola's lower right leg vanished as ki blasted into it, causing it erupt into Changling blood. Heads blasted open and explosions rippled apart bodies.

Kollifum's makeshift ki shield only protected a moment longer then most soldiers, as eventually the top part of his head was blasted apart, causing brains and blood to splatter everywhere. He reeled backwards and fell on top of a pained Koola.

Raditzu chased a small group of the assassains on his own, mainly because no one else could keep up with him. He headed down an alley a couple blocks away from the city plaza, enjoying the entertainment.

The group of soldiers stormed into a house, prompting Raditzu to follow. He easily pushed himself past the ambushing soldiers as he ran inside, giving a "Howdy!" as he tossed them aside.

Five snapped necks later, Rad stepped over a corpse into the kitchen of the house. Apparantly, the home had been used for many days as a base of operations for the spies.

"You can't beat Dante!" Someone declared to the left. Rad looked from the kitchen to the dining room, where five men were around a machine. One of them lept forward, but on instinct Rad used a nearby butter knife to put him down.

"I hope that's a waffle-maker," Rad told them with the utmost seriousness.

The four soldiers put them hands over it as it began to glow red. Rad's eyes bulged as he realized what it was. "This is for Dante!" One of them declared.

Rad cursed and spun around, "No waffles here!"

By the time Rad got out of the kitchen, the entire house erupted into flames.

RESULT:

Raditzu and Kollifum are dead. Koola has lost his left leg under the knee. Gokua was shot but can be easily healed.

41 Dante corpses were found. The city has been locked down so if any still remain, they are still in the city, and disguised.

The greatest honor he?d received during this war he?d been tossed into, was becoming commaner of the United Army. Garlic had been killed somewhere to the north, Gokua had arrived to take Co-Command of the army, and everything was going well. That was twenty minutes ago.

In one fell swoop, the assassins turned his world upside down. Sixteen had no emotions to express, except that the army he?d been entrusted by his only friend was in disarray. Garlic was gone, and he had not one person to gain knowledge from. All his tactics were Garlic?s tactics, all his thoughts were molded by Garlic, but he was gone.

He knew what Garlic would do in this situation, and instantly his brain told him what he should do. The android ripped the report from the messengers perspiring hands, glancing at the body count. Forty one troops on either side were dead, with notables like Kollifum and Raditzu. Looking through the list one more time, he computed the total damages, and looked back up to the commotion.

?The new arrival Raditzu the saiya-jin has been killed, as well as Kollifum the General. But men we have no time to mourn our losses, for we have a war to win. Hunt down the remaining enemies within your unit. You?ve lived with them for many days now, you?ve marched beside them every day. You know the faces of the loyal, so pick out the ones you know are not,? Boomed the android commander.

Spinning around, he laid his metallic eyes upon a crippled changeling warrior. Koola lie hunched in a ball behind him, gripping his lower leg in agony. The look in his eyes was of both fear and disgust. ?My dear friend Koola, you are a most unlucky fellow. To be injured in two battles is very unfortunate, but do not worry changeling,? Sixteen monotoned, hoping to ease the warrior?s troubles.

With a quick whistle, the Commander ordered medics to treat the injured changeling. His medics were all huddled together, listing another body. This time it was the proud Gokua, who we?d met only moments before the attack. Scanning his body, the wound was not as serious as the ones on Koola but it needed treatment.

?Save every unit possible medics. Gokua will live, Koola will live, treat the most serious first. No one person is my sine qua non, each person has the same value in my army. This small encumbrance will only postpone our plans of victory, and those plans have already been set in motion,? the Commander boomed to his soldiers, who?d all returned to their senses.

With a roar, all of the United soldiers began to sniff out the traitors and the ones who didn?t belong. There was no more susurration of betrayal, or thoughts of a tremendous loss, now it was all business. Sixteen had no more time to spare, war had finally found him and he knew it was time to stand up and face it. He and all of his companions, the United Army.

?Fuck!? Gokua firmly clutched his arm in pain.

The shotgun had hit him with force, but he was fortunate; only a small amount of the shotgun?s fire actually hit him. Instead, the majority of the round ripped apart the young soldier, Josh, who found the alien. He was left dead, on the ground, with a large wound gaping hole at the upper portion of his chest. Gokua looked at him with respect as he slowly returned to his feet, keeping pressure on his wound to cease the bleeding. His stare was emotionless, but signified the prestige he held the man at. Josh had saved his life; Gokua was unable to repay him. All that he could do was show his respects and give the man a proper burial, which he would see to. The depressing letter that his family would have to receive would be made by him personally, and not some professional writer. It was the least he could do.

?Commander Gokua!? an aide yelled as he quickly ran over to the alien. ?Your wounds? let me treat them.?

Gokua looked at the medic with a sense of bewilderment. ?Commander?? he asked.

?What, you haven?t heard?? the aid replied with a question of his own.

?Heard what??

?The fall of Garlic Junior.?

?He died!?? Gokua said with utter shock.

?Yes,? the medic replied. ?He was in Dante territory, and when Dante finally found him, he was unable to escape, so he fought.? The medic allowed his head to hang low. ?And died.?

Gokua brought an index finger to the aide?s chin, and pulled the medic?s head back up. ?Look at me,? he said; his determination inspired the medic. ?Do not allow this tragic event to overwhelm your sense of comfort,? he said. ?This is far from over, and a few battles are still left to be played out. Execution is still the key to victory, not personnel.?

The medic smiled; he had been uplifted by Gokua?s words, which were precise. ?Alright, I?ll remember that,? he said as he opened the first-aid box he had in his hand. ?Now, allow me to treat your wound, please.?

?No,? the orange-haired commander said. ?There are other soldiers that are in a more critical status than I, assist them first,? he insisted, pointing over at the injured Koola. ?That is where your attention and concerns should lie, not here.?

?But, you?re the commander, and if not treated immediately, that wound could manifest into gangrene.?

?Please, I?m not concerned with that,? Gokua replied. ?Just assist Koola. Half of his leg is missing, so he needs as much attention as possible.?

?Alright.?

The medic quickly scurried over to the heavily injured Koola, who lied on the ground in pain. There were already a vast amount of medics present there to treat him, but he could use one more aide to help by any means. Gokua was conscious enough to discontinue the chances of any infections. He quickly removed the headband from around his head and tied it around his wound, shielding it from the outdoors, and slowing the blood flow.

?Gokua,? a monotonous voice muttered.

The alien looked over in the direction of the origins of the voice. All that was there was a mere robot. His orange Mohawk was something peculiar, and his vibrant lime-green armor blinded the blue-skinned being.

?Yes?? Gokua replied, not sure if the robot was the voice he heard.

?You are not injured to a point where you?re incapable of handling a firearm, are you?? the robot asked.

?No, I can still wield a firearm, though I prefer my rapier,? the alien replied, folding his arms. ?And you are??

?You shall refer to me as Android 16,? the robot responded; no emotions were in his words.

The pain was intense, beyond anything Koola could remember. Everything below his left knee was gone, obliterated by the ambush. The medics struggled but finally succeeded in stopping the bleeding and they were ready to wrap the wound with the special bandages with a Syntech label, showing that the Syntech Corp. had made all the items and weapons the participants were using. This reminded Koola that though the death in the tournament was fake, the pain was real.

Also in the tent with him was the newly appointed Co-Commander of United, Gokua. He looked upon him as he pointed a nearby medic to aid in wrapping his wound. He was hurt as well, but he could still fight, something Koola might not be able to do now that he is handicapped. He extra medic quickly grabbed a syringe filled with Novocain and rushed to the victim. He slowly plunged the needle into the changelings leg, numbing his pain. The remaining doctors then finished wrapping up the wound and moved on to another tent, where more soldiers need attention.

With his wound wrapped, he stopped gripping his leg and began to breathe slower. The worst was over, but he knew that it truly wasn?t over until Dante fell and United stood alone above all the others as the king of the mountain. But, it would be a long time before the battle would commence. He had a while to heal himself and hopefully find a way to fight again.

Seeing that he couldn?t leave or move, Koola decided to take a nap and rest himself. For the first time since he left the Outcasts, he has felt secure enough to fall into a deep sleep. He was welcome here, and he wouldn?t change that for anything. However, he did fell like something was missing, something that was with him since the game started. He couldn?t lay his finger on it, and fell asleep. Then, a few seconds later, a familiar and annoying voice rang throughout his head.

?Koola! You cold-hearted bastard! How dare you think you can do this without my help! I should take over you body again and slice off your other leg!? Koorsala, the cause for him leaving Outcasts and wondering for many days in the Unforgiving Plains. Koola had been able to suppress her all this time while awake, but she was free from his control when he fell asleep. Now she has returned, with a vengeance.

Too tired from his recent injury, he was forced to listen to her nagging without even speaking a word. ?...So now look at you, all helpless at the seams. If I were helping you, you?d be the Commander of you own army and would have destroyed every single speck of life on this island! It?s really a wonder how you?re still alive right now! You really should...?
