I don't really have time to read through the posts, but I say I don't like the idea at all. Theirs not really a reason really other than the fact that I enjoy RPing my character and like my character. That's really about it. I like the idea of customs, don't get me wrong as long as we don't have this gigantic surplus of saiya-jin's scrambling about, but I don't like the idea of being forced to change my character.

I don't really like the idea of abilities carrying over. I mean, if powerups don't carry over, why should abilities? I've been here for over 5 years and I just have one abilitiy to show for it. If the new system involves these abilities, I guess I'm kind of screwed. >.>

That being said, I want to re-emphasize what I said before. When Kakarot says that this is the best thing that could happen to Chubbs, I know he means it. This is the sole reason I'm behind this idea at all.

Okay, I've managed to read about 5945094354309 replies by you people and I think I've gotten the jist of things. And first, I want to say, it's very nice to have finally been given the ability to get off work and find an important topic not locked.

As for the new system, I think this is DEFINITELY something that should have happened years ago. It would most definitely finally separate Chubbs from being the "typical DBZ RPG" and stop the assumption that character development is ignored. I don't typically have a problem with having my stats wiped though since I don't see it as that big of an issue. If it was, I'd have pissed and moaned for all the things I've lost already. I'll of course be sticking with my original character - I have no interest at all in becoming a custom character. I can change him in any which way I choose, so I could care less.

I think though that once everything gets worked out, this should be introduced to the members one final time to get the go ahead from them. Otherwise, their was no reason to even come up with this if they haven't given their full blessing. Plus, theirs not really much you can go on given the lack of information(I understand why, though). My only problem would be the mass amounts of saiya-jin's, but hopefully the non-transformers will beat them out. Even though it seems you're limiting the races used for non-transformers, it seems as though they'll have a lot of individuality between them.

Mr Koku assures me I've got nothing to worry about there, so I'm good. I give my blessings - until I actually see the plans worked out. Theirs nothing particually to complain about at this point. =O

Edit @ Broli: I honestly feel like abilities would serve more towards RP fodder opposed to power ups. Also the huge fact that abilities seem to be one thing that can actually be said to have been earned, unlike power ups which are just sometimes the case "Okay, you've been here _ years, we're just giving you this". I know that was the case of me getting SSJ a year ago when I came back to this RPG. I was just GIVEN the technique for how long I had been here and how many RPs I had done up before.

Pfft, my powerup was earned just like any ability, and it was earned both times that I received it. I don't know, I just don't like the idea of abilities being a reflection of dedication/length of time at the RPG when I only have one, and my only other ability being a powerup that I won't get to keep. >.>

I didn't mean for everyone. But when it comes to abilities, they were all more so earned because of the fact that they've RPed well, ESPECIALLY, for rare techniques. Zeni isn't transferring over from what I've read. Nor are items.

Oh, and yeah, the one technique you have is probably the second most rarest technique. Ever.

By the time any change might be put into effect (if there's a change at all) tokens will either be already done, or it won't exist for anyone. You basically ignored everything I said in all of my posts. I wasn't just worried about tokens. Though now that you mention them let me point out something. People keep telling me I'll already have the rewards from the tokens by the time this change is enacted. Ok... well since I have no clue what the reward is why would I continue going for them? Because, for all I know, the reward is a power up, zeni, or a TP boost. If either of these are the reward, I will lose all the work put into collecting the tokens.

And yes, I enjoy writing, but for me, the enjoyment is secondary to the game. That doesn't make me wrong and you right or vise versa, it just means I'm motivated by the game aspect of this RPG more than anything else.

And as for the disctinction between technique and move and best move and ability... I think that's pretty important. For example, if we can keep techniques but not moves, that will greatly effect what many people will do in the time to come before the switch.

I don't think you guys are trying to fuck us over. But honestly, did you expect everyone to be like "OH GAWD! RESET!!!1! LET ME SUCK YOUR NUTS!1!" I mean, you had to expect some sort of resistance otherwise you wouldn't have made this thread.

It's more of the systematic change flavor. The way we measure stats is problematic and we are planning a change. But it's not like just reseting everything and starting over, your current abilities will be reflected in the new system.

As for your conversion system, it is possible and will be considered.

Needless to say Rad, we weren't just fabricating "keeping all our abilities and talking about ki levels and scaling and so on and so forth." I was just being specific and hammering at the points I was concenred with based on what staff was offering me... my bad?

That being said, i agree with staff when they say that enough people have not showed concern to retain the boosts of our current ki levels for them to feel a need to enact any form of power compensation. Characters like mine are going to get screwed, but I'll live I suppose. I just want you all to know that I was perfectly aware that there were people losing more work than me, and that they were ok with it. I was perfectly aware that this move was for the betterment of the site. I am just of the opinion that you can minorly compensate people wo have been here for a period of time and have nothing but their work and a decent ki level to show for it. I'm not illogical, I understand the complexities of a reset, I've been through several on many DBZ RPG boards. I get how it works, I was just trying to come up with a fair method of compensation for our time for everyone, not just those with cool techniques to carry over. But as I said, staff doesn't seem to want to do anything like that (though they said they would consider it so I guess it isn't impossible...) and I'll live.

However, I really want to know why we should continue to RP until the switch. Besdies the joy of writing, of course because that's a bull shit answer and you know it. If I wanted to just write amongst friends, I'd type out something and give it to my friends at home and talk to them in person. We come to the message board because it presents us with a way to compete and meet new people and PLAY.

Therefore, it is VERY important to know what exactly will be carried over in the reset. Is it all techniques or just some (obviously not the powerups, but im referencing best moves as well)? Will there be any compensation for our stats (from what staff has said, no one seems to want any form of that, but I want a definative answer please)? If we do get all our best moves and techniques... what's to stop a person from throwing all their TPs into their mentals and getting a hole bunch of moves before the reset? If we dont give older characters anything after the reset but 2-3 techniques (the moves rewarded by staff for excellent RPing) what is to motivate us to continue RPing besides the simple joy of writing?

I think members would riot and be completely against the idea of losing their characters completely and restarting with customs. It solves the power gap very well, and gives them customs... but some people would probably hate losing their character, I would think.
