[D][U] The final battle at Monte Christo
#61
Broli charged forth, the blood from his face dripping away in the wind that opposed him. He threw forward a heavy fist, thrusting himself from the ground as he dove for his enemy. As if revealing an impossible speed, Sixteen stepped to the side, the fist no where close to its mark.

Broli landed face first in the mud, sliding through the sludge that now sat atop the once beautiful earth. He choked, vomiting the thick mud that had been forced down his throat. It was the pity to the android, who could only watch as the Saiya-Jin attempted to climb to his feet. ?Why do you go on?? The android asked.

Broli closed his eyes, lifting his face to the sky and allowing the rain to wash away the muck from his face. ?Because I must,? he returned.

The Saiya-Jin struggled to remain on his feet, to not make his enemy aware of his pain, yet he was fooling no one. His knees shook, screaming to buckle as the rain plummeted down from above. His head pounded, his bones aching as he stood.

Though he could feel the presence of Vejita nearby, for the most part, they were alone.

You are free to sever the chains of Fate that bind you.

?What?? The Saiya-Jin spoke. The android shook his head. He hadn?t said anything at all.

Sever the chains of Fate.

The rain was like needles against his flesh, though the pain was minimal compared to the agonizing anguish he was already experiencing.

?Well?? The android tapped his foot impatiently, waiting for his opponent to make the next move. He was ready to end this battle, and with Burori in current state, Android Sixteen knew that only the smallest sleight of hand would finish it all.

Fate has no hold on you. Sever the chains.

It was the power deep inside Burori, waiting to be unmasked. By now it had grown irritable, throwing itself against the cage that contained it within Broli?s soul.

Sever the chains!

?Sixteen,? he began, tilting his head as he closed his eyes. ?I?ve realized one thing from my battle here today.?

The android waited silently, curious as to what his opponent was getting at. ?I?ve realized that we are all victims of Fate. However, a time comes when Fate becomes lax, where it forgets exactly how strong you are.?

Broli lifted his fist. A misty energy emanated from it, definite but as of yet insignificant, at least to the android?s eyes.

?When that time comes, when Fate allows that single opening for you to strike, you take it with all you have.?

?So what are you saying,? the Android replied, ?that you control Fate??

Broli laughed at the response, shaking his head. ?No. I?m saying that, when the time comes, I won?t have to.?

The winds roared around the two of them, demanding a proper battle that would satisfy the earth of Conquest that was starving for battle. After all, it deserved nothing short of a magnificent end to the more than a month long event that the forces of Dante and United had thus far made it. Broli quenched his fists, having no intention of leaving the planet unsatisfied.

?It?s time,? he managed between his gasps for air, his wounds placing an immovable weight above his head, demanding that he fall to the ground and submit to the might of the android known as Sixteen. Closing his eyes, he lifted his head to the sky, the atmosphere possessing its own chaotic battle of lightning that spattered amongst the clouds.

In a flash of light, a jolt ripped into the earth only feet away from the two warriors. Sixteen jumped to the side, his counterpart unphased by the sudden burst of electricity. Concentration set deeply in the contours of the Saiya-Jin?s face, and with a crackle, another burst of lightning slammed into the ground.

The android peered in interest, realizing that nature itself was bending to the will of the Saiya-Jin. ?An interesting light show,? he murmured.

It was then that the humor that Sixteen found in the phenomenon of nature?s actions that the smallest reactant of anxiousness appeared in the deepest corners of his stomach. Had the android experienced such an emotion before, he would have known exactly what to call it. The ground began to shake, Broli bending forward as he lifted his fists to the air.

Break the chains! Release the power!

The rain itself bowed to the will of the Saiya-Jin, being repelled by some unseen wall that surrounded Burori. A fissure tore through the earth between the two opponents, Android Sixteen finding himself staring between his legs as the crevice ruptured below him. ?What are you doing?? He asked as another bolt of electricity plummeted to the battle-worn ground beside him.

He watched in anticipation, his eyes focused on the Dante Commander before him that remained hulking forward, eyes closed and fists held high. ?What are you doing?!? He roared, taking a step forward. He could feel a power growing within the Saiya-Jin. Before now it had laid dormant, and as it rose to fruition, Sixteen couldn?t help but wonder how he had missed detecting it in the first place.

The lightning had by now become more prevalent, no longer listening to the call of nature but rather to the Saiya-Jin itself. It orchestrated itself in a magnificent symphony of illumination, circling in a sphere around Burori. The rocks themselves cried out in response, lifting from the earth and beginning their revolution around the warrior.

The veins bulged in the Dante Commander?s flesh, coursing with an electrical energy that had been begging until now to be released. To Sixteen?s surprise, his blackened, matted hair began to lift as if by the will of the wind. Like a spark to a stack of dry wood, the crackle of electricity invigorated the hair with a golden incandescence. Gritting his teeth, Burori?s eyes opened, revealing, to Sixteen?s amazement, white stones that stared back at him. The Saiyan?s pupils had disappeared in the depths of the pearly eyes, Sixteen aware that he was the object of his enemy?s sight.

?Chou?? The Saiyan began, almost inaudible at first.

?Baku?? His voice began to grow, the muscles of his neck thickening as each syllable escaped his lips.

?Retsu?? Android Sixteen wasn?t willing to see the end of Burori?s words. He threw forth his own exchange of energy blasts. They ricocheted off an invisible barrier around the warrior, finding their destination in the nearby structures of the fortress.

?Stop!? Sixteen demanded, pushing himself towards the Saiyan despite the force that repelled him back. ?Stop now! You?ll kill both of us!?

?No,? the Saiya-Jin smiled. ?Just you.?

Sixteen had come too far to give up now. Everything hung in the balance. He pushed towards his enemy with all of his might, ready to strike with his fist. He could feel his body screaming at him to fall back, to not push towards such an undeniable strength, yet he was not deterred. Roaring with everything in him, he lunged towards Burori, throwing out his fist.

Broli shut his eyes, straightening his back as he opened his palms to the sky. ?MAHA!!!? With those words, everything was over. The shackles that had contained the power deep inside Burori shattered as the final words of the attack escape his lips. A golden, chaotic energy exploded from the deepest core of the Saiyan, bursting forth in a dome of glimmering light?

?You are free to sever the chains of fate that bind you?

The Ending

After a hard, grueling fight between the two commanders, Gokua became victiorious over Vejita I. Vejita managed to severaly injure Gokua as the two slammed into a nearby peice of the fallen wall, but the overall result ended in Gokua getting the final blow. Vejita promised that Broli would finish the job.

Dante began to break into the Fortress as Reijin reached Paragus. Though he was over 40 times the power of Paragus, was surprised to be met with such resistance. Still, he defeated the older saiyan and most of his troops. Paragus fell, injured, but not dead.

The fight between Broli and Sixteen raged even after the first Dante soldiers began to knock off United soldiers from the balconies. Using every last peice of energy he could muster, Sixteen tried to fend off the super saiyan, but to no avail. With one huge burst of energy, Broli let loose one of his best moves and defeated the United Commander.

Gokua arrived just after the final blow and attempted to take advantage of the hurt Broli, but his wound was too much and he was taken down by many soldiers and tied up.

Up atop The Fortress of Monte Christo, Broli limped into the room to see Reijin, who was overlooking the fight. Of the 3,000 soldiers that arrived, only 1,300 were left to pick up the peices. It was over.
