Double XP Weekend aaw00t
#1
Heroes and Villains, it has been six months since you experienced our first ever City of Heroes/ City of Villains Double XP weekend event! The rules were simple. Hero and Villain characters received double the XP for all of the their accomplishments in the game.

Due to incredibly popular demand the time has come...the Double XP weekend is back beginning Friday, January 26, 2007! take advantage of this opportunity to level up your favorite heroes and villains twice as quickly as normal. Good luck and have fun!

Start: Friday, January 26, 2007 at 8:59 PST/11:59am EST
Finish: Sunday, January 28, 2007 at 8:59 PST/11:59am EST

I'm going to be reactivating my account. I'll post my characters user name as i have forgotten it. But This weekend I'm gonna be one hell of a nerd on this computer playing that game. w00t

Good graphics yes, that is assuming you have it on High Quality Settings like most games. Tongue

Yeah. I saw that. I've had a non-played subscription running for awhile now. I should be able to bring it back for this weekend. Good way to reenter.

Good luck with that guys. I think that last splurge burnt me out too much on CoH. My SG basically kept a core group of people going the entire time, and I was one of the few that weren't involved. I was always waiting for a group, and when a spot opened, the other person would return ("I just called in to work, so I'm back") and I'd get kicked again. Tried to grab a few PUGs, but they were so slow on the xp gain that it wasn't worth it even then. And they were idiots. My SG was doing a 50 quest and repeating it over and over, basically just herding everything into one spot for a Tanker to deal with and we'd basically aeo the shit out of things till they died. Got a ton of XP that way.

I really wish that was less common. People just find a 46 to bridge them, and then herd-farm a 50 mish for hours. Sure, the first time you get a couple blasters to nuke the hell out of everything is cool, but it gets real old real fast.

I agree, but when it comes to dbl xp weekend, all we cared about was basically powerleveling as much xp as possible during it. The more people at 50, the better the SG was overall with Hammy raids and raids on... well, Hammy.

End game really sucks if you're like me and don't like Hami-raids or mish farming.

=(

The storylines are cool and all, but if you spend more than 10 seconds getting to your contact, reading what they have to saying, and figuring out the story for your next mish, your team throws a fit.

Hence the reason I'm playing WoW now. Tons of endgame material for people of all types (I practically soloed my way to 61 for example, what other MMO can you do that on?), I've never run out of things to do (one thing always seems to run me past the location of another quest) and the pvp system just got a hundred times better with this expansion. I don't think I've had a single complaint regarding the game itself, despite me normally not liking games where have to worry about your gear and stuff. And the storylines on these quests are simply amazing.

YOU ARE NOT PREPARED.

CoH began to simply feel like grinding after grinding to me, and the actual missions weren't really all that different. WoW obviously has a certain series of formulae that you could put the quests into, but they still feel different, especially the griffin bombing runs in Outland now. Feels like a damn FPS at times.

Yeah, it mostly just feels like grinding to me now. Especially after sitting down and playing Guild Wars for a while. It really hit how... limited your heroes are in CoH. And given how long it takes your hero to solidify, its hard to experiment with different power pools and archetypes.

You can't immerse yourself into it very easily at all. It definately has a cool environment that makes you feel like "Wow, badass" but even then you turn down your music, jump on vent, and that's the end of it.

I entered the portal to Outland to see a large 30 foot demon standing just outside of the Sanctuary you walk out on. He was surrounded by a throng of other demons and kept summoning infernals. The NPC guards were continuously fighting against it, both Horde and Alliance. Before entering the Dark Portal, you saw a Horde Warlord standing next to an Alliance General, both of them looking at a map to Outland to work together against the threat. Despite being opposing factions. And then you enter to see the fighting, while still going to your respective sides to do bombing runs and other things and fight back the Legion on certain fronts.

It was completely badass. I felt like I'd literally walked into a war, and I've never felt so immersed suddenly.

I'm almost 49.

I'm tired of MMORPGs though. It all seems like grinding. I'll probably get to 50 during dbl xp though.

That's probably my favorite thing about Guild Wars. There's virtually no XP grind.
