Hey all. I was wondering if anyone had any ballpark idea how long it would take to know who is staying as who after the restart? Also when would certain characters become available, cause their is a character I would like to be, but they seem to be MIA right now. So would I have to wait a certain amount of time before I could ask to play as them if the one who has it now doesn't come back?

I think the current understaning is this...if you can get a character that's been deactivated before the reset then do it. BUT if a person remains their cannon into the reset and decides to become custom then their cannon is no longer up for grabs.
So basically if someone gets deactivated now and you want the character you'd better get it now, I don't think there'd be any changing unless someone say otherwise...or i'm just talking outta my ass.

I'm of the opinion that there should be a time frame, perhaps a few days, between when people are allowed to switch to customs and when canons are put off-limits.
So basically if I don't get the character now before the reset I can't get them afterwards? Even if the person who has them now doesn't want to use them? If that is the case I thing it would only be fair that those who are going to be custom state so before the reset, so if somebody wants their character they are able to switch. That's my two cents anyways.

I think switches are allowed, but joining as a canon will be over with.

Bido is correct. You can join or switch to a custom, but you can't join or switch to a canon
The idea is that those who have canons now, own that canon, so we're not letting anyone else take someone like Kakarot because that's Josh's character and it's been shaped how he wants it so when he retires it, it's HIS Kakarot still
If you want a certain character, make a custom and just have them be similar to who you want. If you want Vegeta, for example, make a stubborn saiyan and just have a different appearance. Trust me, there's more room to work with if you use a custom

Well thats just the thing, I am a huge King Vegeta fan. Almost every rpg I'v ever been in I have played as him. Obivously though it would be hard to make a character who is close to that.

Under this logic (and this might have been answered elsewhere already and I missed it) we won't have a use for an MIA system. Right?

Well, MIA stops training points from going out to inactive people. So, not entirely.
But yea, I get your point. We won't have to worry about losing our characters, we can always start back up with them.
@Mino: Make your guy a king of a different planet, let's say Bob Planet #101 which would be located in Other Worlds

Could I create an ancient king of planet Vegeta that was frozen in an ice cap type deal? I know stealing the same idea from the Captain America storyline so shoot me .

On the topic of that MIA thing, could we get excused from the check same as the staff are? Say I want to do my storyline and have Buu get frozen, that's kind of difficult as things stand because then I wouldn't be able to roleplay until after the reset and I'd lose my character. =P

That's cool I could use that for more character development. Especially if you improve the idea I pmed you earlier.

Supes: no. If you're worried about MIA, then you shouldn't RP yourself into a position where you can't use your character. We don't know when the content and coding will be finished, so its probably not a good idea to be sitting around doing nothing.

Actually King Vejita's character is a very large point towards why the reset itself is happening. Things like that.
At this time, it seems like we aren't even bothering to inactivate people or give away their characters b/c we don't want some mad frenzy of "OMG TRUNKS IS INACTIVE I WANT TRUNKS" just before the switch. Trunks Unified will most likely be straight NPCed after the reset btw, for all those that suddenly started wondering. Anyways, that's what I think, but I'm likely wrong, as I usually am.

Since the reset has been brought up, I have a question or two of my own (allthough I wonder if it`s appropriate to ask it here in the Asylum).
Will the NPC cannons play any vital role in the CDBZ universe? Such as being able to teach a technique and such.
Also, if the custom system fails and we return to the old system, will people who have switched to a custom have the option of returning to their original characters?

By "near future" do you mean any sagas before the reset?

If you mean our characters, then no.
They'll probably cameo every now and again, but if like Rad decides to retire Rad (and I hope he doesn't, but this is just an example), then chances are Raditzu would be, at most, a supporting castmember.
The PCs in action would be the focus of the show, so to speak.
