I'd like to know about ki levels, since it's such a big part of the RPG today.
What will each race's starting ki be?
How quick will it grow after a month of average roleplaying?
What will it mean to the characters, and how should they respond to a larger/smaller ki level?

Oh yeah, I was wondering about this too. Mainly, if we have a considerable powerlevel over another player (like 20,000 to 50), would we be allowed to pretty much god mod? Like, roleplaying little to no damage and pretty much raping the other d00d. I mean, it's 20,000 to fuxing 50. =o

"Powerlevel" is the stat that will be replacing ki. Unlike it, it will take into account mental stats and there might be some abilities that affect PL as well. PL, in short, is a rating of a character's threat level to the average person.
The races should all start with about the same PL.

That's a brilliant way of looking at it. . .never thought of it like that. . .

Will there be power level gains to be had in fights? Like in the anime, withstanding a fight with a superior opponent raised your power level substantially. I know this isn't the show, but it's a good system.

I'd be for that but couldn't people abuse the system?

Any posts made during a fight will garner XP, which can then be used to increase your powerlevel if you want. Additionally, we're considering letting people spend XP to learn an ability in the middle of a fight. I don't remember the details of that specific conversation, though, so don't take that as gospel.

I was thinking something like you get a power level gain equal to a percentage of your opponents power level. That would add another layer to the balance system, as going after a newb would be a waste of time, and fighting someone either close to you power level or superior to you would yield better results. Giving out XP to let them use as they want wouldn't work the same because someone could roleplay a fighter and invest in stats contrary to what a fighter would have. If they only care about fighting, then naturally, their characters would grow to only be able to fight. Other stuff too, but I can't really formulate the words right now.
Hope I'm not being annoying. I just read Vegeta explain this in the manga a few eeks ago and thought it would be cool.

While I like the idea, there has to be some kind of limit to it. People would constantly be fighting the strongest person to become strong, fast. I don't see how I would get anything for me fighting Rad or Rei, for example. They could flick their finger and take off my head. Why would that give me some kind of increase in power? =\

That's the point. Newbs wouldn't fuck with vets and vets wouldn't fuck with newbs. The best thing to do would be to stick close to your power level. Unless you want a challenge, which would make you ultra kickass and not lame. =o
EDIT: Why would people constantly go after the strongest people? To get their ass blown off? D=

We can certainly consider a system like that, but the chances of it being implimented immediatly are slim-to-none. I'm not saying it'll never happen, but we want to make sure that everything we have is working the way we want it to before throwing on more layers of balancing mechanics. Your best bet would be to bring this back up a few months after Turnover.

Yay.
Yeah, I know this isn't the best time for suggestions, you guys have a lot of shit on your plates. But I just want to get stuff out there while I still have confidence in my ideas.

What if the "stronger opponent = more xp" only applied to non-leathal situations like sparring? Obviously a stronger opponent in a serious match isn't going to just waste their time/energy exercising with you :B

It can't be done fairly. People will deliberately get their character into huge fights to get an advantage. That's not fair to those of us who don't fight every roleplay

Just a thought on this, but if that was put into effect, the very point of strong people not dealing with new ones is bad as well. The top people would be uncatchable, fighting and gaining more power with every fight than other players even have, while the new people would be playing with meager gains forever?
Sure, it makes sense RP-wise, but would it be fun? It would kinda be making the game into a tiered system of universes, with each outburst of joinees as their own group, since the older chars wouldn't care and they in turn wouldn't wanna waste their time with newer people, since they already have a near-insurmountable task of becoming decently strong compared to the longest players. Obviously the oldest players should be strongest, otherwise why bother, but the gap would eventually get enormous. Maybe I'm not seeing something here, but that's what I think.

Yeah that's what I'm saying. This seems like a good way to balance out stuff to me, as people would put a lot more thought towards who they decide to engage in conflict. Newbs wouldn't be worth the time unless you are a newb, and veterans would be a huge gamble. The site would naturally divide itself into different circles that way, and other than the occasional rampage or random 'holy shit, I wanna have some fun', it would stay that way.
I was thinking this system for the winner of the fight, and the loser probably just gets the regular XP handout. That would deter people from going after gawds just to get all buff.
Even the chance of a great power level boost wouldn't be worth getting blown to hell and dieing/losing some of your stuff. Only an idiot would go after somebody 30 times their power level, and if they lost (not only would they most likely die) it would have all been a waste of time. It would only take this happening once or twice for people to get the idea of how risky fighting a superpower would be.
(I will let this die for now, I just wanted to clarify a little because Tim and Reb were telling me what they didn't like about it, and it didn't seem like they understood exactly what I was trying to say)
