Yea she was dead from the get go. It's why she shouldn't ahve told her position. Had Garlic have powered up, he would injured Bardock...

Thats my guess.

Edit: on that note... Bardock needs to stay there... and Rad, Vegeta/Rei/Bra, and 18 need to go there.
