It's funny watching the first one now, knowing what happens to everyone.

I am... mixed. I liked it for sure. It was epic, but there were a few things that irked me. I shall list them, because I like lists.

1) Multiple Jacks. Even if the brain line was one of the funniest it still didn't redeem it for me. Praps if they just didn't have the tiny ones, and had them big all the time it wouldn't be back. Otherwise its just sort of a jarring experience, taking you out of immersion. And yes I know its because Jack was cracking up.

2) Calypso. Something just didn't sit right. It might be the fact it was the voodoo woman. Were there hints to it in the second movie?

3) Sextuple double crossing. A POTC staple to be sure. But at some point enough is enough. I followed it fine, but complexity a good plot does not make. Not to say the plot was bad, just I think it could have been more clever without quite as much betrayal.

That said I really did enjoy it. This irks may disappear on the second watching.

Absolutely

First time they meet Tia Dalma, she explains the story of Dave Jones falling in love. She says "it was a woman" and Gibbs said "no, it was the sea." Tia then replied with "Both are true! It was woman as untamable as the sea." Of course, she's the God of the Ocean, and thus IS the sea, and so it's true

Also, there is a shot of her lockett, which matches Davy Jones'

When Calypso got big I wanted to scream out ABSOLUTE POWERRRRRRR and then watch them drive the ship into her and impale her. But that's just me.

On a slightly less Disney note, I think that after all that buildup, Calypso did just about nothing after regaining her god-form. She turned the storm and the whirlpool on and off, and that was about it. I was hoping for more.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that this movie was fuggin' awesome! I get that the critics aren't exactly raving over it, but I really don't care. I was entertained, and that's all that matters to me. xP

Anyone remember toward the ending when the battle with the Dutchman and Beckett was over and they were all celebrating? I laughed so hard when Jack gave Mr. Gibbs permission to throw his hat on deck, then quickly commanded him to retrieve it once it was thrown. "Okay, now get it back." XD

Anyway, movie-wise I feel that Elizabeth presented her character too... eh... 'boldly' when it came to compairing to the other roles. Felt there were far too many kissing scenes for a woman who was supposably as devoted as she was. No big loss if she doesn't appear anymore *shrugs* plus I didn't understand how the pirate king from Singapore had mistaken her as Clipso in order for her to obtain his piece.

Went back and saw it again, and the scene at the end.

If you think about it, she wasn't the one kissing everyone else, they were kissing her, except for the end where she went to kiss Jack, most likely in gratitude. Sao Feng forced himself on her, and Norrington was about the get skewered. I think her character was dead on. She had everyone she ever cared about ripped from her life, and she probably had a lot of rage.

In the beginning, Sao Feng said there was "more to Elizabeth than meets the eye," or something along those lines. When Barbossa mentioned they had Calypso, Sao Feng looked at Elizabeth, and so did everyone else. Usually when something gets that many stares, it confirms something somebody suspects. Barbossa caught on that Sao Feng suspected Elizabeth of being Calypso, and led him on.

I saw it while in VA. I found it ironic as well that while in a theater in Danville, VA the theater's title said "Georgia Theater Company", haha.

But the movie was epic. A blowaway. I just didn't get to stay around till the very end after the credits, despite knowing that I should have, b/c I was in a hurry to meet someone. Didn't happen, but I still left before the postcredit thing for it.
