So I went to the Family Values tour on the 22nd and it was awesome.

But I found this band, Five Finger Death Punch, on the second smaller stage while Flyleaf was on. I must say, 5FDP makes a GREAT live show and gave free posters and autographed shit and I got a CD. Their live set sounds almost the same as studio, they aren't some fake people and they are all really cool.

The genre? They are straight up metal. The new Pantera, almost. Check out their new album Way of the Fist.

Are metalheads a minority these days? I don't see it being too mainstream, not to mention most people I meet say they don't like it. It's all about The Killers and other gheyness now. Which is FAIL.

Most metal just comes off as RAR! IM FUCKING HARDCORE to me. The harsh voices, the mashed guitar... it rarely works for me. I like a song here or there but I generally cant get over the ridiculous feel of it.

Edit: See I listened to Slavation by FFDP and was really into the guitar but he starts his raspy rawr lyrics and I make a frowny face.

I have to agree, good metal is hard to find.

EDIT: Oh dude, tell me about it. I really hate when they start the screamo shit 2 or so minutes in... it's a cruel trick.

I finished out Salvation by them and It turns out it wasn't bad if I got past the opening voice. I dare say I liked it.

Salvation is one of the harder songs. The Bleeding is softer, Ashes is pretty awesome. White Knuckles is awesome. The guy's vocals are amazing.

You guys would like Isis. They are metal, but in a more ambient/progressive rock kind of way. Their songs are like 7-10 minutes long, and are more about solidifying an emotion and telling a story. There aren't really any vocals... and even though they are 'screamed' they are buried in the background and inaudible to the point where it's just another instrument adding to the tone of the music. Take it from somebody who hates screamo: it works.

Oceanic is a beautiful album. Download it, buy it, steal it, whatever. Do eet.
