There was a teaser I saw somewhere on the internet...it didnt show much though and I'm sure you guys have seen it too so I wont bother looking for it to post.

Bale is very good, I think he's signed on for at least one more movie (or something like that)

and that is the new batsuit.

Why do they want to destroy Batman? He's never done anything to anybody that would warrant such abuse. It's bad enough that they have him running around in body armor - which is something Tim Burton came up with, it's not part of his character - and they have him driving a god damn tank, but now he's just walking around in full sight of the police? And I'm sure they all love him now too, and he just buys a magic button that, when pressed, removes whatever gets in his way.

Where's the gritty urban ninja vigilante doing real detective work without ever stepping out of the shadows? I really, really miss that guy.

I think they might be headed in that direction. Way to jump to conclusions based on a photo.

I'm only judging the movie based on what the previous one - and the last few from the previous series of awful Batman movies - was about.

And of course the "direction" will be something close to what the comic books do, but the actual execution of a Hollywood movie always destroys the icon that it attempts to emulate. That's what happens when people try to shove the equivalent of months of comic book plot development into two hours of action. If people didn't already like Batman before the movies were ever made, and Tim Burton's movies weren't there to draw extra nostalgia from, then nobody would see these movies.

Batman Begins had good "direction" with going back to his roots and showing that he's actually an American ninja, but for fuck's sake he ended up driving a tank and tried way too many times to yell at people in his raspy/old-man-with-upper-respiratory-problems voice. Am I the only one who laughed at all that? D:

They are/were filming that in Chicago. I live in Chicago. Consequently, I > you.

I want to see Ledger as The Joker. I was literally like 'wtf' for a whole week after it was announced. I'm sort of indifferent now.

Begins was a total reset on the franchise, while it might've had a couple tips of the hat to Burton's series ("Who are you?" "I'm Batman") it ignores the horrid Schumaker films and stands out on it own.

And yes, they are just wrapping up filming in Chicago before heading over to the UK for more filming.

Here's Ledger as the Joker...

and yes, he wears purple.

I dont remember laughing lol...

And when I heard Ledger was the Joker I was kinda pissed, but the idea grew on me. If the pictures I have seen are real then it looks pretty cool.

Edit: Yeah that's the picture I've seen. I dont get why they are making his mouth like that though...like bubbling.

>_>. Man. You totally asked for this Rant..

"The Joker is the one villain that has stood the test of time and stood it completely unscathed his character is a perfect blend of humor, hatred, and evil that I’ve ever seen in any character. He’s been around for over sixty years and he has never lost a step he’s been revered as one of the greatest villains ever made all during his run and still is today. The Joker is like I’ve said before such a funny character that he’s almost a walking quote machine in every media he’s made countless jokes that are timeless and always make me laugh like the one you see in my banner now to any countless ones that you can think of but the Joker in many other instances can be the most disturbing and evil character that you’ve ever seen he’s done things that are truly disgusting and cruel most of the times doing it because he sees it as funny.

For me what makes a villain great is the hero and how they play off of one another. In the department of Hero vs. Villain Batman and the Joker are the quintessential example of the hero and villain. In this case the hero and the villain define one another perfectly even to the point of acknowledging the fact themselves on multiple occasions. If you are a fan of Batman and the Joker than you know that without one there could not be the other. They are the polar opposites of each other Batman the dark serious and silent hero and Joker the light hearted colorfully dressed talkative villain. In everything one does the other does the opposite but they aren’t without their similarities. Both have a flare for the theatrical that they both use almost ever chance they get, They’re both incredibly intelligent and in almost every incarnation of a Batman/Joker comic, movie, or episode it’s always a giant chess match to see which one can out think the other. It’s a testament to there never ending feud that Batman and The Joke have been fighting each other for over sixty years in one media or the other and there are still stories to be told. And you can quote me on this that they will be fighting each other long after we have died they will fight each other until the end of time.

One thing that has added even more depth to the Joker’s character is his relationship with Harley Quinn. Most of the time we only see either the jokester or the murderer but with Harley we start to see the humanity in what some would see as a truly inhuman character. In many ways Harley is the perfect female foil to the Joker because she does a lot of the insane things that the Joker does and her blind love of him keeps her coming back to him even though on many occasions he’s hurt and even tried to kill her. Their relationship is one the most complex and entertaining relationships I can think of.

Let’s take a look at the Joker’s weapons now the Joker can’t possibly have normal weapons oh no he has a vast array of killing weapons made to be comical in nature: A joy buzzer that kills, a flower that sprays acid, Joker venom that makes the victim literally die laughing, razor sharp playing cards, the list goes on forever and what makes him so much fun to watch is you never know what he’s going to attack with next.

In conclusion to me the Joker is not only the greatest villain ever made but possibly one of the greatest characters ever made. So finally done with my list I can say without any doubt in my mind that The Joker is Villain #1.

Favorite Quotes: There are too many to name but here are a few.

Joker: (Hits Batman over the head with a wrench) Meanwhile back at the wrench!

Joker: Haven't you ever heard of the healing power of laughter?

Vicki Vale: You’re insane!
Joker I thought I was a pisces.

The Joker: You're out of your league, McGinnis. I know every trick the original Batman and Robin knew at their peaks.
Terry McGinnis/Batman: Maybe, but you don't know a thing about me.
The Joker: You? What's to know? You're a punk, a rank amateur, a costumed errand boy taking orders from a senile old man. [rolls up his sleeves] Still, if it's a whuppin' you're a-wantin'...

Joker: Drown the kids and shoot the neighbors! We've got a winner!

Joker: I did it! I finally killed Batman! In front of a bunch of vulnerable, disabled kids!!!! Now get me Santa Claus!

Now here’s a link from Youtube that I think fits Joker perfectly: http://youtube.com/watch?v=_JEa71aS3oU "

I didn't read any of that, but The Joker ftw.

EDIT: I agree with Dabura, the body armor is stupid. It was ok back when it was still smooth, but making him look like a cyborg is lame.

Joker is a good villain because he's crazy without being stupid, so he's a formidable nare-do-well that can stay true to his archetype without having to justify his actions with contrived rationals.

However, Kefka > Joker

The difference between them is that Kefka became the ultimate single power in the world, capable of fulfilling his desire of causing hysteria, destruction, and oppression of order on a global scale. But, for the Batman mythology, Joker might be as good as it gets. As for the way Joker is designed for this new movie, again the direction is good, but it looks like they're still working with antiquated tools of make-up and prosthetics. I hope that's not the final design, because it looks half-assed when you realize that they could also give him a CGI overlay for a fully inhuman appearance. :/

Who is Kefka..?

Because in my opinion, Joker is as good as it gets, period. He's dang scary. He's a homocidial maniace, but he's funny in a creepy way.
