Ok. Here's the issue...
I've been put on the ground floor to help the Brick Masons. These four guys are faster then the whole other crew on the rooftop at the moment. And they have twice as many up there.
I was running a chopsaw to get rebar done for these masons on the ground floor and cutting most of the rebar for the fifth floor when I was given measurements. Today, I before I could get everything set up... I had the face mask that was got for me... the chopsaw, and all thechopsaw blades, tooken from me.
Now I am reduced to a band saw, which is no wher as fast at cutting so much rebar.
I have over 300 cuts to do tomrrow, and with a band saw... I can see me getting behind.
Now, I told the assiant supervisor i needed a second mask so I could run the other chop saw, but he told me to just run te band saw.
I'll become far behind tomorrow if I do so... and I'llhave to hear it from the bosses because I am behind....
Would you try to tell him again in the morning... or go over his head?

What do you do?
I would see what I could do with what I have and if need be try and approach the supervisor again and explain it would help keep things on track.

Pffft.
I'd do it his way and tell the guys upstairs exactly why you're behind when it all blows up in his face.
I've done that to people above me. A few times. At my old job, it got so that people just pretty much agreed to let me do things however I wanted, because they knew I could get it done fast enough.

I agree and disagree, you already let the dude know you need certain equipment. For me one time is enough, especially when you're working with tools and what not, you can be nice and ask him again and if he denies you what you need to give your work 110% go over his head.

Both. Its bullshit that you're supposed to make 300 cuts with a band saw.

I work for Trident Construction. It's err carpentry work.
I almost asked about a second mask infront of the supervisor, and two of the assistant supervisors.. but I bit my tongue and was hell bent on showing Vince, the asst. supe that was over me... that I was correct in saying what I needed.
Though, my step dad had brought it to my attention that, that mask was more-so specifically, bought for me to operate the chopsaw.
Not even 30 minutes into the workday, the masons foreman came to me asking if I had gotten him some 4 footers he had wanted. I told him I was working on it. Probably had less then 20 of them cut so far.
Jason, the guy I'm supposedly under and helping, who is also Vinces step son, came down and told me he needed alot of 6' 6" cut. I asked him when and he said right now.
I looked at him told him, that it'd be a while since I was using the bandsaw.
He starts talkuing to me like im an iiot and goes and retreives the chopsaw and the mask and brings it to me and tells me to cut. He seems to think I was hired to be his help or something and that hes actually a boss of something. Sad thing is... I'm doing 90% of his work.
i told him if he didnt give me a number of how many he needed... his 'alot' was going to be... maybe 6 of 'em.
Before I finshed cutting his rebar from him, the mexicans who were previously using the chopsaw, said that they had Nmber 5 rebar over where they were cleaning up and could kill two birds in one stone while I went and did the easy small amount of cuts with the band saw and attempting to rid insalation from the celing where block had to go.. So after I finished with jasons cuts, I gave it back to the guuys so they could clean up.
Thing is.. I told VINce yesterday that I thoguht masons come before cleanup... which they did, but he kept acting like I was an ignorant asshole. Though... I do usually act stupid and act like a goof when I'm working just to have fun.
I mean.. I'm new to the jop, only been there a little over a month, but once I learn something.... or get the hang of it.. then you may as well let me do my thing, unless you know an easier way and enlightent me with your knowledge.
But cutting 6' 6' and 4" off of 20' peices of rebar with a bandsaw... is very time consuming. And the 3-4 masons on ground floor, are fucking real fast. They'll have done more in one week tomorrow, then what 10 of the other masons have done in 2-3 weeks. No one seems to comprehend that.
We ended up catching the masons up before lunch. And I went to helop the guys clean up for ma bit.
I refused to say a dmaned thing to ince today, because I mighta ended up cursing him out.
Jason just had me royally shitened because I was in a bad mood to begin with.
I got the chopsaw back at least. Now I can get to rolling tomorrow once again.
Wonder if I should tell the bastard that it would be wise to order a box of blades instead of three.. I mean... if theres only three blades... and you're suppose to let someone know when you are low on material.... what exactly would I consider low? lol

Yeah, you should tell them to pick up more blades. I know I used to get pissed when guys wouldn't tell me until they were actually out of something.
Then they just sit around with their thumbs up their asses, not doing shit cause they "aint got what we need."
Tch... lazy-ass mexicans.

I told them I needed blades.. last week.. thay brought us 3 blades. If I do like typical... Those blasdes will be trashed b y next week. Why not buy the damned box..which saves a few bux as well as gas? Thats 10 blades i think.
I was a smartass today, and ran that blade down till I scratched the metal that held the blade. At the end of the day,, I told everyone we must be falling on hard times because we only had so little blades purchased, and because of that, I had to make full us of the blade. And Any normal person, woulda changed blades at a 3-4 inch radius.....
And at lunch while my stepdad was away on the phone.. I was joking when I questioned them why they wasn't finished on the roof.... I mean for the most part of the day, thay had everyone but me up there on it. Vince had to go and be a smartass and say, "What have you been doing? You've been on that insullation for two weeks."
The new guys just got there last week.... and I was put with them the day after.... been 2 weeks though? I said that and he didnt respnod back.
He seems to forget.. his neglegence and cowardice put me behind anyways.
I mean... I have one section of insullation that I cant reach.. well 4 actually.. one thats... kinda... like... errr..... yea.. and about every other time I nearly loose my balance on the ladder, I get off and come back later.
The Supervisor seems to nice to bother with stupid shit. He's a fun old guy and jokes with me alot.
I heard from a freindly barber that Jason is going around saying he has 8-9 people under him. Which only infuriates the point that he thinks he is my boss. Last Saturday while I was at Vinces House... these two decide to tell me that Jason is my boss, or Jason moreso says it.
And I say something about the insulation... I was told it needed to be tooken down last friday or maybe thursday... before the masons needed to lay ythe final alyer of brick.. and they fluctuate by minute lol.
At Vinces House... I've spoke up about the chopsaw situation already... and we've all been drinking a little bit.
Jason's story is, I've been hird to help him. And Vince agrees with it. Which is bull shit. I was hired because I needed a job and my stepdad told Neal, that I needed a job and that I didnt know anythng but was willing and able to learn.
Another funny part of the story is... Jason said... Neal, spcifically old him to put me(or someone) on the insulattion.
Vince said that himself and the Mason Supervisor, had been brought into Neal's office and said that the masons needed the insullation out of the way.
I know at least Jason lies... and I know Vince is kinda full of shit and a bitch as well....
I think I might have to go ask Neal about all this tomorrow... or next week..... I'd def do it tomorrow.. but... its pay day and race pool day..so... meh.. its suppose to be a "I'ma win the money" day... and he's stresed aready cuz he has to do the running around until Lisa gets back monday... so to ease it on him... I'm thinking monday(Or tuesday.. mondays are alwys a hastle)

Ahhhh...my eyes. Fix grammar, plx.
Greg0rz (3:16:14 PM): if you cut Michael Moore, he would bleed cheese and bacon grease?
UltimoDemon (3:16:26 PM): I think that is very likely, yes.

Greg0rz (3:16:45 PM): do you mind if I quote you?
UltimoDemon (3:16:49 PM): Not at all.
