Gears is garbage. Run+Cover+Shoot=repetitive and stupid.

FPS games in general suck.

I liked the Halo series significantly more than Gears. Halo was just more fun for me.

I must correct myself:

Gears of war multiplayer > Halo 3 multiplayer

I actually enjoyed the Halo 3 story. Probable more so than Gears campaign.

Well... I should qualify that. I like the Halo 3 multiplayer more than Gears. Halo 1 was just "who's better with the pistol" and Halo 2 was way too much "j00r a fskin n00b if u dnt play 0n1y BRz wit no radar!11" Both of those are stupid. The game's designed to be played more than one way.

My experiences with Halo 3 have been both incredibly entertaining and diverse. I found Gears to be neither.

I actually think playing Gears of war slightly ruined Halo 3 for me. Gears being my first online FSP, and enjoying it so much, (I actually still play it acouple of hours a day) that when Halo 3 came out, it didn't have a chance.

I don't think any FPS will compare to Day of Defeat 1 for me. That was just so much fun. There are still shooters I enjoy, but they don't hold a candle to a good old-fashioned game of DoD.

Runner up would be DoD: Source, and only because few things are as rewarding as panzershrek-ing someone in the face.

Gears is very innovative, and the graphics are better, but there's nothing like getting a Running Riot. OR BLOWING UP A SCARAB.

The cover system, the way you can see the trajectory of your grenade, etc.

Halo 3 is innovative too, but nobody uses The Bubble Shield, or that Grav Lift shit, nor is detaching a gun turret nothing but an invitation to get pwned by a plasma. It's new stuff there, but most of the time I'm killing people with the B button, not because I employed the use of any of that other stuff.

And you think Gears was the first game to do things like cover? I don't mean to sound condescending, not at all. I just I'm just curious as to whether this is your own impression or if you heard/read it somewhere.

And I didn't mean when compared to Halo 3. I don't see anything innovative about either game.

I haven't played every game ever, but Gears was the first time I had ever felt like I better keep something between me and the enemy lest I be pwned. And I really love the way the camera shifts when you sprint, and you can hear your breath being all heavy and stuff.

Innovative probably isn't the word then. An example would be the chainsaw at the end of the gun thing, most shooters have melee attacks, but none are as satisfying as splitting someone in half. Stuff like that, where it really didn't redefine anything, but did stuff on a level that made for a unique and new experience.
