Just rebought D2 and the expansion (the battlechest)

Now to figure out what to play...

The first time around I played a Necro and loved it, but only got just into Act 2 when my parents pulled a ninja format on me and I lost my game. Made a Barbarian the second time, and to my surprise I actually loved him as well, especially the ability to leap over rivers and bypass tons of walking time and mobs. I made it into Act 3 before they formatted that time.

So now in a debate, now that the options of Assassin and Druid are open to me as well. Basically it plays out a lot like WoW as well (since its where 90% of WoW's abilities and ideas come from) so no idea. Going to see if it lets me use one cd key to play a multiplayer over lan, to try to get Erin to play with me a bit.

I love Barbs, and my friend used to rip shit up with a Lightning Trap Assassin that had an Enigma chestpiece (Enigma being the runeword that gives you +1 Teleport for any class). So that's nice.

Amazons my man. You get a lightning javazon, and they can kill anything in the game, well, maybe not Hell Mode..

Started trying a Paladin to see how that went... but not really sure I like the style. Bit annoyed that by keeping an aura up (with most the abilities being largely party related) means I effectively lose my second key and have to hotkey back and forth on my first one instead.

May give the Druid a whirl for a bit, or may try Sorceress out a bit. Or end up going back to Barb or Necro. Or maybe even try out Assassin. Still debating.

Paladins are awesome once you get some good Vengeance or Zeal going on your left click.

Charge with Paladins can do so much damage, it's ridiculious. If you get good enough mana, your looking at (with a decent weapon), 10k each hit.

I'm pretty sure D2 multiplayer uses a dedicated server to save your character and items. It's not on your hdd, so all you have to do is reinstall the game and sign in to your b.net account.

Assassins are currently the strongest characters. I've got a friend whose trap assassin can solo the Nightmare bosses in Hell difficulty. That's insane.

My personal favorite is the barbarian. Once I get the Immortal King body armor I'll have the whole set.
Whirly Barb + IK = ;]

Post ur items ! :O

Weapon Wrote:IK two-handed hammer w/ 2 Hel runes in the sockets
Indestructible, +40% faster attack, +200% increased damage, +200% bonus damage vs demons, +250% bonus damage vs undead, 35% chance of crushing blow, -40% requirements
Obviously, Hel Runes aren't the most powerful things to put in the sockets, but the hammer's STR req is over 230. Since most of my stat points are dumped into VIT and I don't have enough +STR items I really don't have any other choice. I plan on getting another hammer when I do get enough +STR, though. (currently over 170 STR with my current gear) Also, having an indestructible weapon is a must for the whirly barb build because whirlwind eats weapon durability like candy. I've also got Ali Baba's sword (empty sockets) as my alternative weapon for an extra +84% MF.

Armor Wrote:IK helm w/ 2 P.Topaz in the sockets
+2 Warcries (Barb only), +125 bonus defense, +32% extra gold, +82% MF, +4 to light radius

IK gauntlets
12% chance to cast lvl4 charged bolt when struck, +65 defense, +20 strength, +20 dexterity

IK boots
+40% faster run/walk, +110 to accuracy, +75 defense, +44 HP

IK belt (max item capacity)
+35 defense, +25 strength, +31% lightning resist, +28% fire resist

Sharktooth body armor w/ Duress Runeword (ShaelUmThul)
+40% faster hit recovery, +16% increased damage, +37-133 cold damage, +15% chance of crushing blow, 33% chance of open wounds, +190% enhanced defense, 20% slower stamina drain, +40% cold resist, +15% lightning/fire/poison resist

Jewelry Wrote:Nagelring (ring)
+75 to accuracy, -3 magic damage, attacker takes 3 damage, +22% MF

Raven Frost (ring)
+210 to accuracy, +15-45 cold damage, +18 dex, +40 mana, 20% absorb cold, cannot be frozen

Rainbow Amulet of Fortune
+11 to all resistances, +25 MF

IK Set Bonuses Wrote:+450 to accuracy, +204 Poison damage/6 seconds, 127-364 Cold damage, 7-477 Lightning damage, 211-397 Fire damage, 10% Life/Mana stolen per hit, +385 defense, +25% faster attack, +25% faster hit recovery, 20% damage reduction from attackers, +100% defense (Belt), half freeze duration, +2 Combat Skills (barb only), +25% MF

Nightmare Act2 Defensive Merc Wrote:Tal's Mask w/ P.Topaz in socket
+Life/Mana steal on hit, +Life/Mana points, +24% MF

Grizwald's Armor w/ 3 P.Topaz in the sockets
+2 Defensive Auras, +20 strength, +500 bonus defense, +72% MF

Bonehew Ogre Axe w/ Hel Rune and P.Skull in sockets
50% chance to cast lvl16 Bone Spear on hit, +30% faster attack, +297% damage, +Life/Mana steal, Prevent Monster Heal, -20% req
He hits three times per attack for 500-2000 per strike and his aura slows all monster's attack/move speed by half, so he's pretty monstrous as long as he's not being pummeled by casters.

It's easy to see that this is my MF character (over 300 MF even without talismans). This character can already solo Hell Meph pretty easily, but since this equipment isn't really top-tier I can't solo Hell Diablo or Hell Baal. I'll need the IK body armor for that, but since it's so rare I doubt I'll be able to get it doing MF runs on Meph. This is also my first character ever, and I wasted stat and skill points which I now regret. Maybe I'll make a new barb with a more focused build if we can get a few players together.

Best skills are Battle Orders (+98% life/mana/stamina), Shout (+120 defense), Whirlwind, Mace Mastery (+113% damage and +160 accuracy w/ maces), Iron Skin (+60% defense), and Natural Resistance (+60% all resistances). I use Concentrate as my primary attack, and even though it's only lvl4 it does 2.3k-3.9k damage per hit with the IK maul for only 2 mana plus enhances accuracy and defense and is uninterpretable, while Whirlwind is lvl24 and it does 1.8k-3.3k damage and cost 36 mana per use. If I got my defense up to a respectable level (only 2700 without Shout, need Ik armor!) I was going to switch to a merc with +damage aura for some real power. :O

I know a summon necromancer and hammer paladin that can do the same thing.
