old games

I've recently gotten into older games, for a lot of reasons. I like to transcribe for one, and the melodies in older games are a lot simpler (yet still cool), and I just enjoy them when I have nothing better to do.

I just got a SNES (if you know what I mean), a Genesis (if you know what I mean), and an arcade cabinet with over 6000 games on it (if you know what I mean). So yeah, recommend me some good older games to play. Exclude Chrono Trigger, it's a given. Preferably a game with nice music.

I was thinking of actually buying a GBA and playing some Golden Sun and Zone of The Enders.

If you get a GBA make sure to get both, Golden 1, and 2, and Advanced wars 1 and 2.

That's funny because the Christmas me and my brother got GBAs, my brother got Golden Sun and I got Advance Wars.

Advance Wars can kind of eat my ass though. That last fight against Enigma is WAYYYYYY too fucking hard.

Annnyway, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night has some epic music in it. Maybe not great for transcription, but still good stuff.

Most of the Final Fantasy series had really good music. I've always been a fan of the MegaMan music (might be a bit more cartoony than what you're looking for), and Super Metroid has some good music in it, too.

I also have to throw in Sunset Riders. The music in that game just cracks me up.

I defeated Enigma on my own, but it took forever. I think I ranked D on that mission in the end.

As far as music goes, Golden Sun probably has the best score out of all GBA games.

Bojack, you should try Aerobiz Supersonic. Unless you have something against such games, it is a great and entertaining management game.

FFVI (all of the other titles in the franchise suck balls), Breath of Fire 2, Secret of Mana, Super Mario RPG: LotSS, Earthbound, Zelda: aLttP, Lufia 2: RotS, Illusion of Gaia.

Mega Man X (and only the first one), Disney's the Lion King and Aladdin, Earthworm Jim, Desert Strike and Jungle Strike, Spiderman and Venom: Maximum Carnage, Batman Returns, Blackthorne, Flashback, Super Star Wars (Empire and Jedi, but not the first one), Rare's Donkey Kong and Starfox games.

Ogre Battle, Mega Man Soccer, SimCity, Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat II.

There is nothing like flying around in a TIE Defender blowing up some rogue Star Destroyers. Frickin' Admiral Harkov.

X-Wing Alliance was the last and best game in the franchise, but I don't remember any of those games being on console.

I found TIE Fighter to be more fun, mostly because I wasn't forced to fly the slow YT-1300 around for half the game.

And technically he never said he just wanted console game suggestions. He said "Old Games".

Play Metroid Fusion. I did that, then went out and actually bought it (again, if you know what I mean) because the damn thing was so good. Thus began my long-running obsession with the series. Zero Mission and Super Metroidz are also good, but my favourite 2D Metroid is Fusion, blasphemous as that may be to purists.

Aside from that, Donkey Kong Country series, Comix Zone (try to beat it. Go on, try), Ristar ... uh, I'll try and think of more.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying a little bit of Pokemon. Been playing since the beginning (over 10 years) and I still find it fun.

If you wanna feel retro, go FireRed or LeafGreen. If you want a new twist to the story, go Ruby/Sapphire.

Or if you want something really fun, see if you can find a copy of Gold/Silver/Crystal. I really enjoyed the 16 gyms thing those had going on.

If I go back to the Pokemon series, I'll either revisit Silver or Yellow. I won't play anything more recent than that until I get a DS.
