You let me draw you into a stalemate in the center (check the end of page 3 and after), then let your queen's guard (rook, knight, lots of pawns) just sit for too long doing nothing. After the queens were captured (thx uno :B) and I lost my queen's knight to ineptitude, my entire left flank buckled. That was your chance.
The pivotal move was castling on your king's side in that situation. With my left flank down, my only option was to make a bold charge up the right flank and that's exactly where you put your most valuable piece. I played a lot of gambits to clinch the stalemate at the center, so I don't know how the game would have played if other choices had been made by either of us, but the end result was that I was allowed to pierce straight into your king's pawn wall with a hero pawn of my own, and that pawn kept the king trapped for the rest of the game. You had to play a lot of defense for that mistake, and it eventually cost you the game.
Then, because your queen's side was relatively inactive, my queen's rook went super saiyan and clinched your queen's rook, knight and pawns in one fell swoop, while simultaneously keeping your bishops from moving around my left flank. That was pretty epic.
All that bought me enough time to turn the whole game around.

Eh, it's more about active thinking than static technique. I have a very conceptual mind, and as such I have nothing to teach. Besides that, I'm still shaking off rust because I haven't played chess in about ten years. Well, maybe I can just bullet point some ground rules.
-Making goals and plotting courses are fine, but also be careful about over committing to a single strategy. If nothing else, this one game should have taught you that.
-The opening is the most important part of the game. Study pro opening strategies and the type of effect they have on the rest of the game. Then use them.
-Learn to adapt. For instance, the queen is the most valuable piece on the board, so I was peeved when Uno caused them to get captured. But, since they were both captured it was an even trade, so our strategies simply had to become "queenless".
-If you can't think of a strategy just play your strongest hand. I never planned more than two or three moves ahead of time. My original plan was to make a wall and push up the center, with commando units guarding the flanks (like in our chesshere.com game) but once the queen and queen's knight were lost, my fight became one for survival.
-Playing defense is risky no matter how you cut it, so stay on the offense as much as possible. But, suiciding valuable pieces (like your knights in our chesshere game) or an opportunistic defense (Super Saiyan Rook and Hero Pawn) will change the game either way. Find your balance.

I demand a rematch. I also demand a week's rest, my anus is still sore.

HEAR YE HEAR YE, YON FOLKS OF CDBZ:
The rematch was had.
I won.
Bojack was probably cheating, he was taking twenty minutes per move even when he only had three pieces left.

Hahahahah! You'll soon rue the day you mocked me, chess wizard!
One more game to break the tie, after this I'm not playing chess for another 10 years.

Fine. Next game is worth 3 wins? I want to have a chance to resolve this, but I really can't play any more chess.
