Prince Caspian (with Spoilers)

Couldn't find the other thread. Movie was great, yada yada, I have a question.

Did Aslan ever actually explain why he was absent a majority of the movie (absent in a non phantom background sage kinda way)? I think the only answer I got was "Things never happen the same way twice" but I'm more interested in what his excuse was for dropping the ball and why he vanished as soon as the people did.

He more or less just stood up and said "Err, let's not dwell on that, the point is that you guys are back and hey, I'm up now, let's uh, wake our friends the happy wood spirits up yeah?"

I don't want to get all theological in 'dis here bitch, but I think it's 'cause Aslan's like god. I mean, he's the Jesus Christ of Narnia. And I mean that in sort of quasi-literal sense. Like, it's the form god takes in the realm of Narnia. It's hinted at heavily in the books. Er, anyway, what I'm trying to say is that since he's god, he comes when he's needed.

There's nothing quasi about it. Aslan = Jesus. The author has actually said this before.

And no, they explain nothing. Alsan was just all "screw you guys, im goin home." And then they came back and he was like "wtf, im lazy, do dis shit yerself."

And then he made the big water guy. That was awesome.

What I was more confused about was why the two older kids are never coming back. He said "they have learned all they can from this world" or some crap. Is the audience supposed to know what that means? I definitely didn't. The girl learned she wants to hump Caspian, and Peter learned that being an arrogant, immature, jackass works out in the end as long as you have a sweet sword and are hella stubborn.

I gotta say, though, I'm pretty jealous that his full title was "High King Peter the Magnificent." That's just sweet.

I already knew the interaction of Aslan to Jesus thing. That was obvious. But wasn't what I meant. I wanted to know where he'd been. At least Jesus was all "dude, I totally got hung, yelled at my healer for a rez, then went up to chillax in heaven and do some work up there for a few thousand years before logging into the game again" while Aslan was like "um, let's not dwell on where I've been"

And from what I was told the older two either just move on in life and "miss the boat" effectively from not being near the group when they are taken in or die irl or something.

That was a little disappointing to me. Most of the movie awesome, don't get me wrong, but I definitely didn't feel the need for all the cryptic lion-talk.

Well, he played so little of a part, that imo they could have just not involved him at all and done something different to finish off the movie.

I admit I thought the Ice Queen cameo part was a very well done tie in.

I agree that the Ice Queen was awesome.

It felt like Aslan was there just to explain the sweet magic stuff they did. His role in the actual story was irritating, at best.

Is this really a cool movie for adults to see as well, or is this just a juvenile indulgence on you all's part?

I think it's pretty cool for adults.

It's definitely aimed at younger kids, but not to the point of cutting older people out of the loop.

Yea there were a lot of old people and adults there who I think read the books when they were younger and wanted to see the film adaptations. There were laughs and a few female gasps when the animal soldiers got freaking slaughtered.

Random bear: "forr aslann"

That seemed so random and out of place, got a few laughs.

Obviously when Aslan leapt out and caught that soldier and side flipped in the air, it was hard not to scream "DO A BARREL ROLL"

I was definitely laughing my ass off. "And now... a talking bear."
