Wow. I know it's Michael Moore and some people despise him, but just wow.
Health Insurance is the greatest scam known to man. It's shitty that we have to pay thousands in health care when many other places have it for free. It's rather ridiculous, really.
The only thing I disliked about the movie is how Moore threw in his little quirks that related to 911, the War in Iraq, or things of that nature. Although they were humorous. For those who have seen it, what were your thoughts? For those who haven't, I'd advise seeing it.

Moore cherry-picks his cases. He doesn't look at the man who has a malignant brain tumor that has to wait three months to get a scan, then wait three months for a diagnosis, then wait another 3 months for the actual surgery.
Our system isn't great, but their's isn't either.

I suppose by theirs you mean the Canadians? But what about the French?

Moore's movies are essentially propaganda. The truth is left on the editing room floor. Comprehensive education isn't on the agenda, so I wouldn't take it at face value. (it's more of a public-style education: feed you easily consumable bits of info for the purposes of regurgitating it on command)

I have not seen Sicko yet, although I plan too. But I have to agree with what was said about Moore. While he does put important topics into the limelight, he is either only putting in front facts he wants to put or he does a lousy job researching the problem he is talking about. Plus, it is worth to remember that Moore is politiclly motivated. So if you watch his movies and read his books, you should do so with a grain of salt.
We have a public healthcare system here in Slovenia. While it does have its flaws (but then again, what does not?), it works and I definitly perfer it over a private system. You cannot measure human lives with money.

Alot of people lump universal heathcare and privatized healthcare into two separate lumps, but there are really a wide selection of flavors. Moore demonizes one and promotes another, and he does it in a very irresponsible way. He highlights few of the flaws of the Canadian one and none of the benefits of the American one. I don't even know the right way to go about choosing a good system, I hope there are smarter people than me out there capable of that. All I know is there has to be a better way than what we got now.

Moore is not unbiased, to say the least.
His movies are outrageously stilted, and, as Belle already stated, a great deal of information not helpful - or contradictory - to his cause is omitted or outright altered to suit his arguments.
My personal opinion is that we need a two-tier (universal healthcare w/ option to purchase additional care from private companies/hospitals, etc) system.

Or if people were responsible for their own health, and ate healthy and exercised or just didn't have illness-inducing lifestyles so insurance didn't have to be insanely expensive to turn a profit. D:

Always? No.
Mostly? Yes. Third-world countries don't have our cancer rates, and that's something worth thinking about. Simply putting the financial burden onto everyone isn't going to change things like that.

Waff. Funny you should mention that.
Paying taxes for public healthcare here (for me, at least) exceeds the cost of a pretty darn good Blue Cross plan.
Food for thought, I guess.

^It's one of the times, though, when I believe in thinking of the collective.
