Wish me luck

I've been trying to find a second job, I applied at a gas station, a drug store, and a video game store to no avail. One of my managers suggested I apply at a hotel her boyfriend works at, because they really need housekeepers. Well, to my surprise she got a call, and she told them I was a perfectionest and really neat and tidy. She told them a lot of good things, and they told her I was too good to be true.

Well they called me this morning (I missed the call) so I'll call them tomorrow morning and see when they want to interview...

I'm nervous, though. I don't think I'll be able to work as hard as they need me to. My own apartment is a huge mess, I get tired easily. I read,

Quote:In addition, forceful movements while using awkward body positions include lifting mattresses, cleaning tiles, and vacuuming every shift. Housekeeping is a physically demanding and very tiring job. It can be classified as "moderately heavy" to "heavy" work because the energy required is approximately 4 kilocalories per minute (4 kcal/min.)

Maybe it would be good exercize. I'm just not sure I'll be able to clean as well as they need me to.

Bleh, but I'm told they'll pay $13 an hour...and I need the money. ;-;

Do it.

If I can haul a gallon of grease up and down stairs repeatedly for minimum wage, you can do this.

I know you can.

It may be hard at first, but the more you work at it, the stronger you'll get and more stamina you'll build up.

Good luck.

What Bardock says is absolutely true.

I got destroyed over and over again at my job, but now it's not very hard. I'm a lot stronger as a result.

A girl that likes to clean? Waff is a lucky man! =P

But good luck, and so forth. I don't have the patience to meticulously clean rooms.

Yep it's easy once you get the hang of it, if it's in one hotel then you're set. Me and my sisters worked for a housekeeping company at the beach for two days. They didn't just clean one hotel they cleaned dozens! At the end of the day we were beat and they cheated us out of six rooms we cleaned so we were pissed.

And at 13 bucks a pop you're going to make a killing.

Well I guess it'll be around $10 for starting (min. wage is 8.60 now), but I'm told one girl got to 13 in 6 months, so I might be able to get that too.

The woman sounded nice. It'll just be one hotel, it's like a huge castle, it's cool. Apparently celebs stay there as well. I'll be going in thursday at 2:30, sounded like I'll def get the job.

I only tend to clean when I'm upset, or I really need it.

And Becca, if you ever need my advice of years of dealing with slobs, and cleaning up other people's shit, I'm here for you.

Yeah, right downtown. Mykonos is nearby, and in the summer they have that ice cream shop in the double Decker bus across the street too or at least there used to be one haven't been down there for awhile.

Yeah it's still there. The Samurai is in the hotel too, apparently it has the best sushi in Saskatoon o.O. I don't like that stuff, though.

So, the interview went pretty good imo. I was open, friendly, and she seemed pretty impressed. I had to do an online interview that they emailed me. She asked before I left if I would be home around noon on friday, I said yes, and she said she would be calling about then. She said I was the most promising applicant.

She never called, not even to say that I didn't get the job. I waited from 10am to 5pm, nothing. Still no word, so I was pretty upset. I was sure I had the job, but I guess they didn't feel the same way.

So rewind a bit. I needed a second job, so I applied at a gas station that was hiring part time, a drug store, and a game store. I decided I'd try the new dollar store that was close to home. I was gonna do it today, but I forgot my resume.

So I decide to get a slurpie before work. I see that the gas station is hiring full time now, but don't think about applying cuz they never called me the first time. The guy I usually see, Russ, asks if I'm still looking for a job. I say yes, but only part time, cuz I work at the pet store and I like it there. Well the boss comes out and he says that he was actually gonna give me a call. So I come back at 2:15 once I'm done at work, and we do an interview. He said that he doesn't usually hire on the spot, but he wants to give me a shot.

I finally got a second job! It pays 9.75 an hour (petcetera only gives 8.60). I'll be getting 36 hours or something a week, so I'll still work at bit at petcetera. I'll get health benefits so maybe my drugs won't cost 50 bucks a month now lol. I'm hoping this works out. I'll be working sunday/monday mornings for sure (6:15 by myself til 10).

I think this is better than the hotel, it's close to home and my other job. I feel like I know more about cashiering, selling, merchandising and customer service anyway. I think that there's a reason for everything, so I must not have gotten that job because the Shell needed me lol.
