So open beta starts today, and it's only TODAY that Amazon decides to send me my beta activation code... so I'm kinda stuck in queue at File Planet to start downloading the client. Probably take a few days or something.

I had everything downloaded for a while and have been trying to play all day, but it basically goes like this.

Patch, no problem.
Get into the game and create a character. No problem.
Enter the game and watch other people run around smoothly and read chat as it moves, no problem.
Try to run and while running (with the game extremely smooth), I get a spam of "Interrupted" across my screen.
Try to use one of my abilities, and very rarely I can get a cast bar that gets interrupted, otherwise I just get ignored or "target out of range".
Try to talk in chat, while reading it easily, and nothing I say goes through.

Then I get sent back to the server screen.

In other words it seems like its just not accepting data from me and I'm lagging out badly. People are saying that regardless of how smooth its running my comp either sucks or I need to go to a lower pop server (not that there are any) but I have made about 6 characters spanning across each race and faction on 6 different servers, three of them were Low: Low on pop when I created, and I still just lagged out immediately (again, no noticeable lag other than client to server).

I went into my router to make sure that my filters were all off and not interfering and have every firewall off.

So I don't really know what to do, since other than that, I've had no problems, the game is beautiful, and looks quite fun. But I've been spending all day just sitting around and doing random shit around the house since I can't actually play, and hoping that it'll be fixed soon, especially when my copy is going to be sent this way by actual release.

Christ, like, zip your folder and send a copy to me. This torrent is having me at like SEVEN DAYS before it finishes because of NAT issues - and fileplanet kicked me off the queue earlier today when I had been waiting over five fucking hours.

I downloaded the fileplanet thing about 9 days ago when I first got my preorder key. Couldn't do the patcher till today though, and woke up at 7 after four hours sleep to run it, but it didn't start until my wife called me back to be at 8:30, just to get up later and find out the servers came up finally at 8:39. Otherwise, yeah, this has been 8 hours of me dealing with this.

Imo, you should just pay the five dollars or whatever for the file planet instant subscription thing.

I have finally found a server and class combination that slightly works for me. I'm running around on a Witch Elf and I was getting the Interrupt spam for a while and nearly DCed, and then just randomly it cleared up and I'm halfway through level 2 now just killing random mobs. Haven't quested yet.

Game seems awesome, although I really hope that this server lag clears up so I can play with friends.

Well, this is pretty much the stress test... I assume server lag will be a problem for a couple weeks after release.

I haven't played yet, but I've fooled around with career and renown builders on wardb.com. I'm trying to decide between a Black Orc or a Disciple of Khaine. BO appeals to my 'hit shit for big numbers' fetish, and the idea of wading into a mob of Order and Blocking the shit out of everything appeals to me. At the same time, my brother is going to play a Chosen, and the idea of partnering up a DoK with his tank is irresistible. After playing a Shaman in WoW I've gotten used to the flexibility having melee DPS and heals offers... But then again, BO are greenskins and thus = hilarious... And I already have a name thought for him (Bludblade)... akghaskgdg

I pre ordered WAR Online, and I have an open beta key, however...
A) My internet was down, today. Damn you Virgin media.
B) The servers were about as useful as a chocolate tea pot.
C) I KNEW they wouldn't be able to handle more than two million non unique hits in two hours, but they were confident they could. Hah.

Oh well, Fingers crossed for this not happening on september 15th. (18th for all you non pre-order grotz!)

Well, I want to play Destro side, since every race just keeps appealing to me, but all my friends are insisting to go Order for one reason: They don't want to play on a weighted side. They heard on various forums that everyone was going to play Destruction.

Funny thing. Almost every server as they came up today immediately was "FULL" on Destruction side and "Low/Medium" on Order side. So that proves it, every person that plays is going to be going Destruction if possible, which is sad because that means more 12 year olds.

I am just messing around on both sides for now, as the game is awesome now that I've played a bit, but I got dced shortly after hitting three on the WE. I think its just going to take some time to clear the clutter from the starting zones, although they would GREATLY benefit from having about three times the number of servers. They are almost all full.

That's disheartening. I don't particularly like the classes on Order, save for Archmage. The Devs said in a blog entry that the difference on the beta servers ended up being like 3% variance between the sides.

Not that the other side is low pop, but its still a leaning ratio on every server. Not one server that I've seen has more Order pop than Dest.

One of the characters I got working, a Sorceress (that can start one shotting stuff, jesus) got her to level 7 before logging tonight. Was great fun, I like the game. Like WoW mixed with City of Heroes in terms of the "I want to go do this stuff just because". Lots of random titles from things like dying x amount of times, looting 25 mobs, etc, like CoX.

The RVR scenario I did was awesome too. Like your typical node lockdown map but when one side controlled both for 10 seconds they would explode like nukes and kill anyone within like a 100 yd range (unless in the cave) and then reset. Was hilarious watching some people using Flee to run like hell with the firey mushroom cloud literally following on their heels.

I'm going dest if my computer can run the game, yay for being on the big side for once (I didn't level an alliance character beyond 10 on WoW).

From what I've heard, anyone that would normally play Alliance all want to go Dest, and the former Horde basically are rolling Order to not deal with "teh alliance kids".

From what I understand, this kind of imbalance is common. Horde outnumbered Alliance in beta. The general consensus is that the more "serious" and "hardcore" players are the ones that make the effort to get into Beta, and thus have a certain inclination towards the 'bad' side (for whatever reason).

It'll probably even out after release. Expect to see a bunch of naked elven women running around in Altdorf.

Its underdog syndrome. Every one of my friends that insists on playing Order says its "because they don't like the ezmode of playing on the weighted side". Note that every refers to playing Ally side as "ezmode" too, with the same reason. They want to feel like they are going against the odds so their "bragging rights" for doing the same things are better than your bragging rights.

So I log on this morning to find my download has gone from 8.5gb complete to 600mb complete. Looking like some fucking asshole decided to reset my computer in the middle of the night.

I'm a creature of habit, so I stay away from beta, because it upsets me when I grow attached to a feature and it doesn't make the final cut.

The Open beta has some reeeeeeeal problems with mobs bugging out and being un attackable (They still fire at you though)...

Aside from that one REALLY ANNOYING bug, this game is FANTASTIC.

I'm hyped. Not that anyone here knows me to validate my opinion. o-o;

I was so sad that the Choppah was cut. Seemed like exactly my kind of playstyle (suicide run), but Black Orcs look fun too... but so do DoK...
