We need to make some rule that restricts MIA a bit more than it currently does.

Right now we have a few people that come in the day that their character is going to get deleted, throw up 1 roleplay, then disappear for 2 weeks again, then repeat. That keeps a limitation on who can be what character.

I know at least 2 people that would switch characters in a heart beat if those characters were to open up, but sadly, for the last few months, it's been the same thing, 1 rp every 2 weeks. These are the kind of people that don't deserve to have a character. Every once and a while, sure, but not every single week, that's just kind of stupid...but that's just my opinion I guess.

Perhaps some kind of rule that only allows you to go MIA a certain number of times a year, unless you post in the "I'm going away" thread. Other than that, there's no reason as to why people can't rp more than once a week. If they can show up the day that their character is going to be deleted and rp, then why can't they do it before that?

Me...Piccolo. lol, but he's currently active and hasn't been hit with an MIA.

This is more for those that would like to either switch or join, but can't do to the fact that we have people that roleplay twice a month where we could have someone join and rp with the character a lot more.

I think there should be no switching at all. ever. Then that'd solve this problem of cockroaching characters, except for noobs but they don't count, and it would solve BJ and HF17's little dilemma.

In addition, it would be nice if 'active roleplays' only counted as posts of 300 words or more (or a certain numbers of characters that the board recognises). I've noticed some people are posting sub-300 roleplays and still getting the MIA tag taken away.

If this was implemented, people could also do very short posts if they wanted to (for a back and forth conversation, for example), but these posts wouldn't count towards their activity (or post count, if possible, though that matters a lot less). Unfortunately, however, we'd need someone adept with coding if we wanted this stuff.

I'm going to go ahead and tell you what you want to happen, won't happen. Some people have earned their stripes here to be allowed to go through slow periods.

Even if Staff revises the rules for switching or MIA, both of which are unlikely, some charachters are still going to be untouchable.

well, I still think that it sucks that people that "have earn their stripes", can completely run around and do as they please, i for one am getting kind of upset with the way things are starting to go around here. It's like, if you're not in the "in crowd" then you're screwed.

I never said it was right or that I liked it. Trust me, I dislike how if you were here in '03 or early '04 you're untouchable. But, it doesn't make it any less true.

I'm with Yamu. There is absolutely nothing wrong with MIA right now. We are aware that people are lazy, or have real lives, or both. We don't expect ANYONE to post all the time. Roleplaying is a HOBBY, and we do it ON OUR SPARE TIME. If that's once every two weeks, whatever. We are not going to force people to roleplay anymore then we already do.

And anyone can get NPCed for awhile while they get their life back on track, like Yajirobe right now. It's not like we only do it to certain people.

As for switching, and I have no idea why this topic is even relevant to MIA, I agree that there should be steeper penelties because I have no respect for people who constantly switch characters. Switching once, I can sort of undersand, as I know what it's like to not get in touch with a character. But after that, it's ridiculous to keep going through characters like I go through beer.

I'm perfectly aware that for whatever reason, 13 wants to be Piccolo again even after all the crap we had to go through when he switched originally. This means Piccolo has to switch, and then whoever he wants to switch to might switch, and we'll have a fucking domino effect till everyone is happy. It is RIDICULOUS.

You get a character, stick with it. You can change the character anyway you want outside of appearance, gender and name. If you want your character to act like a saiyan, nobody is stopping you! Have them be like 1/4th saiyan, they just can't go SSJ because it's too little of a relation. Then, problem solved, you've got a saiyan!

I see where you are coming from, but, Piccolo wants to switch to a former NPC who isn't even taken right now. 13 wants to go back to his old guy. Just do it already, everything will be solved, people will shut up about it. Perhaps it will be the last switch for them both. Personally, switching sucks, but it does not involve me nor does it give me a stat deduction, nor does it you guys except for the people in question, and that is it. If they want to switch, let 'em switch. Sheesh.
