Tapion's Display thread

Yeah I know I already had a display thread but that was when I was more of a newbie at PS so I wanted to make a new one now that I think(and hope) I've improved.





I'll post some more later but can I get some C&C on these two.

I made this one only because I wanted to bump this thread but I didn't want to bump it without a reason

Not bad on the sonic, I dont realy like the backround though, don't get me wrong it's good but I dont like that style .

Your style isn't very suited to me. I don't care much for it. But that can't be helped, styles are percieved differently by different people.

However, I do like the Mario sig. Don't care for the others though.

I figured I might as well attempt a new style, please gimme some C&C on this one since it was my first attempt at a sig in this style.

What did you do to the quality of the pic? -.-

Seriosuly I can't give out C&C because it'd look like I'm flaming...I just want to suggest you look at some tutorials on DA (deviantart), because...well...the sigs aren't all that great...That's what I did at first and I can make much better sigs now...

It's C&C, it's his opinion. Just because he thinks Pikkon's sig-making needs work doesn't mean he's bragging how great he is at PS.

And no, I'm not bragging I'm so good and all that, I told you that if I gave my fuill opinion it'd look like I'm flaming. And Toma don't misunderstanf me i wasn't being a dick though that may have been how it came off, I wanted to see how you made sigs and what your style was.

I basicly did the same exact thing with this sig as I did with the H17 sig but I wanted to make a diffrent one since the H17 pic had bad quality.


BTW I apperciate the honestly Toma, I would rather have people giving honest opinion's then just making up stuff up to make me feel good, but since we are on the topic can you be specific and tell me what you think I can improve on exactly?

EDIT: Sorry Nap's my comp got all fudged up last night thats why I just randomly signed off aim and since I lost the pic you specified I didn't make your sig.

So here are a few suggestions.

If the pic isn't of very good quality, and even if it is, do something of the sort:

1. Duplicate the layer with the pic.

2. Gaussian Blur with about 3-5 px the bottom layer.

3. Set the top one to Overlay

4. If the pic is too dark now, duplicate the top one, and set it to Luminosity.

5. Adjust the opacity of the Luminosity one if you have one so it looks good.




To blend in pics a bit better:

1. Duplicate the layer and hide it so you have a base one.

2. use the magic wand and select the outside of the pic.

3. Invert selection

4. Select > Modify > Contract > 4-5 px, depending on the pic.

5. Feather 4-5 px

6, Invert selection

7. Select one layer, usually the one on top and another one inbetween if you have more than 2.

8. Hit delete so you delete a bit of the pic.


To make the bg a bit more grungey:

2 options:

A)

(make sure the bg is transparent so far)

1. Take a grunge brush.

2. Hit D to make the colors go to default

3. Brush the background a bit

4. Control Shift I so the colours get inversed

Repeat steps 3 and 4 until it looks good

5. Use color balance and duplicating the pic, motion blurring it and setting it to overlay to make the colors fit.



B)

1. Hit D so the colours are default

2. Filter > Render > Cloud

3. Make a new layer, brush black with some grunge brush, set the layer to either soft light or overlay.

4. set foreground colour to white if it's black or black if it was white.

Repeat 3 and 4 until it looks good.

Do the same thing as above for the colours.





How to make the text blend in better: (credits to 18 who taught me =D)

1. Make the text white and write what it's supposed to say.

2. Blending options on the text

3. Stroke 1 px Black

4. Colour Overlay with either Red, White or Yellow, with the blending to Overlay.

5. Bevel, and play around with the options.

6. Exit the Blending Options and reduce the fill of the text layer to 0-30% See how it fits.



Also, on the text you can add glow, shadows or whatever fits.

But I didn't like the picture(cuz his arms were cut off so I had to make his sideways to hide his arms) SO I edited it to make this one



But I didn't like the text so I took it out and made this one.
