Wiki?

One of the other RPGs I am semi-in recently took it upon themselves to create a Wiki. I thought this was odd, considering the roleplay was entirely contained in one thread, but regardless it got me thinking: we're certainly larger than that. The CDBZ universe is huge, far larger than what we have on the main site that, while showing a great deal of functional material, doesn't cover much that has been self-created in detail; like DA, the Prophecy's Child sagas, long standing character relationships, etc.

So, should we make one?

It wouldn't take away their usefulness, it would do more: it would replace them. A wiki would be cleaner and more efficient than having three seperate boards, imo. But that's just me.

It could be done ofcourse..

But, just think what all should be in it? Everything? In what way and order do you display it?

Do you just copy all saga's to the wiki in a chronological order? For what purpose? etc etc

I suppose it's not really necessary; you can, after all, put all your information and everything in a Character Profile, but it can get rather onerous if you have a complicated and growing back story, a la the Buus. We just have a ton of NPCs, each that have their own stories that have been delved into to a moderate depth, a galactic wizarding organization (read: W.A.N.G.), and other things. They sort-of-but-not-quite fit in a profile.

I had assumed that lots of people have things like that left over from Personal Roleplays etc., that they would like to put up on an easily accessible site. It would make it so that anyone reading their threads would know what the heck was going on.

You needn't manufacture detailed blow-by-blow descriptions for the sagas, perhaps a mere summary of the events, and if someone wants to elaborate, they can edit in more details.

In the unlikely event that someone goes on an editing spree (which I've never seen on any wiki but hey), there *are* ways to stop them, and if nothing else, you could always copy/paste your history/backstory/NPCs to a text file, and turn it back >_>

Anyway, just some thoughts there. It might not be the best thing in the world after all, but it was just an idea off the top of my head.

Well there's this site that has like 20 members, maybe 1 person visits per day, and it has it's own Wiki. So surely Chubbs should have one.

Yeah, I made the thread, I thought that it would be an awesome idea. ^_^

EDIT: Kollifum, although you make a good point on some things, not all character vaults have all have information about the saga, and the ones that due are usually just about saga stuff that revolved around said characters.

The wiki article could have a list of all the current NPCs, a chronological saga list with information on each saga, the summary of Chubbs, the past events we've had, a list of previous staff members, a list of previous mini games with a brief description. Really, we don't have to do it, I can understand it would be a lot of work, but it'd be fun to at least try.

We can get one of those free wiki sites, and we can all throw our own stuff in there and it'll be our own personal wikipedia.

I think it's better on Wikipedia. That way others can actually find it, instead of it just being for our own amusement.
