The only character that possibly comes to mind is the little girl that Goku runs into as a kid in Dragonball. Around the same time that Android Eight shows up.

Not critisizing his choice, just wondering. I mean, I chose Akane who is from the same place.. but well, thats was lack of options for female characters I could relate to.

Unless he completely lost the will to be Kid Buu, I suppose.

The reasons are various.

Major: Not really feeling the magic with Kid Buu anymore. While I'm sure you dudes've heard that sort of excuse before, it's pretty much the truth.

I say 'pretty much' because I do occasionally have some creative spurts with him, but for a while now he's been - not difficult - but frustrating to write him, because I'm not having fun while doing it. I know that I can change my character to be 'whatever I want' personality wise, but I just couldn't do that kind of a twist to Kid Buu, given all the work that's gone into giving him what little depth that he has. I simply don't want to play him as he is right now, but changing his personality to something else would at the very least strain believability to the breaking point, if not break his continuity entirely, and for me as a writer that's something that I really am unwilling to do.

Minors: When I was a n00b, part of the reason I chose Kid Buu was because I thought that his Regeneration capabilities would be worth more than just flavor. Today, I see how that might've been a little naive; how could someone expect to get benefits just for nabbing up a particular character? Silly. But its use as even a flavor ability has been restricted in the staff stuff that I've engaged in. As it was part of the initial reason of picking Kid Buu in particular, revelations since that time have made the choice less appealing.

Another reason I joined as Kibbles was because through my correspondance with Super Buu. We had a plan then on doing a lot of stuff together, and that was something I was really looking forward to. As it turns out, it wasn't really meant to be. I realized later that I had been put quite a lot of weight on my decision to be Kid Buu based on this previous plan, and if I'm going to be a character, I would really rather it be someone I would want entirely, and not someone I took because of some planned interaction with another.

As for 'why Sno', I was pretty much looking around for female humies, and she stood out. I'd be playing her older, of course.

I could probably come up with other reasons, though I'm surprised that people would question whether or not I'm serious. It's not like he (Kid Buu) has made a big impact and all. (At least, not that I'm aware of.) >_>


Edit: And yeah, Akane, I believe that is Sno in that figurine.

Anyway, I wasn't *questioning* your actions. More just wondering. I know you have had issues with Kid Buu for some time, but I never saw it get to the point where you wanted to drop him, so, just kind of wondering.

And seriously? If I had tried something like that without asking here, I'm pretty sure someone would have brought me up on charges of trying to use Kid Buu's show properties as a way to effectively twink Shapechange into my character without going through the school.

I think I can pretty safely say that you're the most talented writer I've seen ask for a switch on these forums, KB. If you say you don' think you can do anything with your character, I'm pretty inclined to believe you. I'm not going to try and talk you out of the change, but I do want to make a couple of suggestions:

Have you tried changing your character's personality without actually changing their personality? Throw kibbles into a set of circumstances that would force him to act as if his personality had been changed. The beauty of this is that you can play around with the frustration of a character being forced into something that he doesn't want to do, you can use the experience to explore different avenues you might of thought of before, and if its done right you can use it to make slow, progressive changes to the character's personality directly. I've done it with Rad a couple of times and I've always had fun with it.

A series of backstories/flashbacks. The great thing about flashbacks is that, really, you can have your character be as different as you want them to be and it makes it even more enjoyable to read. If you write out a backstory for KB that involves him acting totally different than he is now, not only do you get write, basically, a new character without getting a new character, but you also set up this big mystery of why your character is so much different now and what caused them to change. You could do a whole story that's entirely flashed back or you could mix in some old memories as KB is just going about his daily routine.

The most obvious suggestion, of course: just interact with other people. If RPing with SB was a huge draw for you, set something up with someone else. Someone KB might not even know exists. Or maybe someone you wouldn't inititally have thought to pair with together with. Might give you some of your drive back.

Anyway, just thought I throw some of those out there.

Just my input: you say that it's become difficult, not fun, to write as Kibbles now. It won't necessarily become easier when you switch. I've done that before on FoF, and all that happens is that you find your new character (who seemed so appealing in your pit of writer's block) is no easier to write as. Maybe I'm wrong and there genuinely is something wrong with Kid Buu that's made you hit a brick wall, but he's such a malleable - pun intended - character, that I think it's probably the former. Trust me, we all feel like it every now and again, but IMO switching is one of the worst things you can do.

I won't hold it against you if you want to switch. And I apologise if I had any part in pressuring you into Kibbles if you didn't want the character that much in the first place. I thought that you wanted the character even before we talked about combining our storylines, but I'm starting to realise that might not be the case.

Either way, it's cool. Go for whatever works for you. =)

That is exactly the reason I was going to change from Garlic a little bit ago.

Now I'm working hard to change him, not over night but over time as a character. It still remains to be seen if I can do that without making him... not Garlic. Slipping back into my rut is very seductive. After DA there is going to be couple of personal storyline I want to do to change him in addition to whats been done. Over all with my speed? We are looking at a year of development. If I can make it. I still may have to switch.

I understand this is hard to do when you are already tired of KB, and you may not want to invest all that time when you can just switch, but your such a good writer I'd love to see you try some more definitive character development. Its really your own personal opinion so you shouldn't listen to me or others too much.

I'm glad that the newer staff already feels the need to seperate their personal and staff opinions in a clear manner like I have to do at times. Makes me feel not so much like a moron.
