I didn't want to make a whole new thread, but I couldn't find anywhere else appropriate to post this.
I've suddenly got an urge to try WOW, but my laptop is not all that great, especially not for gaming. Here are some specs off the top of my head. AMD Turion64x2 processor, 1.93 RAM, NVIDEA7100, or something around that range. So. Any chance of me being able to play run WOW? I tried playing Second Life acouple of months ago, and not only did it look crappy, but my laptop sounded like it was having a heart attack, or the equivalent of a heart attack to a computer.
Also, not sure if anyone will know about this, but is there a lot of downloading whilst playing? 0.o

The trial does stream content as opposed to it not being on your computer, but I think it'll be fine. I was able to play it just fine while other people did stuff (router), and that is rare. It's certainly no uTorrent, let me tell you that.
I have pretty much the same specs as you (you even have more RAM) and it ran pretty well. Nice and fluid. There was some lag during the main city (Thunder Bluff), but nothing too bad.
Awesome game. If you can afford it, get eeeeeeeeet.

I might try the trial version. What is the cost, I know the actual game is only £20 or something, but what's the monthly fee?

It depends what payment method you use. I personally buy 60 day game cards which cost 29€.

Yeah I actually checked the prices earlier. It's pretty pricey, IMO. I don't know if this is just an impulsive thing, which next week I'll forget about, or something I could really get into. Apparently there's a 10 day free trial, hopefully it won't be too much to download. Then I'll be able to see how well my laptop runs it, and also whether it's worth buying.
Also, you guys all play on an American realm, so I wouldn't be able to play with you if I decided to get it, which sucks.

Actually, I play on a European server called Laughing Skull (although currently I cannot play since my last game card has ran out and I have been unable to buy a new one yet).

I'm just downloading the trial version now. I can't decide which race to be. I'm thinking I wanna be either an archer, or regular warrior type, (swords, axes, ect). Which races would be best suited to being a warrior/archer.

I just picked the Night Elf cause they look cool. Played the game for a little over 30 minutes, it was fine for awhile but then suddenly it just started to lag really bad, so I decided to quit. It looks surprisingly good, graphics wise, I mean, I thought it was gonna be all jagged edges and just, well, terrible on my laptop, but it was fine. Although my laptop did get really hot, so I don't know how well it would handle it if I played for hours on end.
I'm still not sure whether it's worth the money for me. It was fun to play, but it wasn't, oh my God, I would totally pay £10 a month to play this, 'fun'. But buying those cards, like you get get for Xbox live, does make it a bit more appealing, definately would be less bothersome than paying with a credit card. So, I'm undecided.

What the hell. My characters gone. What, do they delete trial characters after a day or something?

Just yours.
EDIT: Ok, seriously, I've never heard of that happening. I've played trial versions twice and never experienced anything like that.
