XP, Spending, and CA
#1
I'm pretty sure that XP is only converted into CA when spent, correct? Isn't this going to cause problems down the line though? Everyone's going to have XP and want to increase their CA, so the natural thing to do is to spend it, but if everyone is spending XP on a limited amount of things to buy two things could happen - either we're going to have every single person on this site having every single technique, or an infinite amount of best moves/custom techniques. I was just thinking things could get messy if every single person on this site suddenly has telekinesis or venomous ki, or an infinite amount of sweet-ass best moves in their arsenal (as opposed to before when best moves were further limited). And i know the response is going to be 'well, they earned it' but i still think it's going to cause problems or issues down the line.

Like what if i've already purchased all the pre-made, offered techniques and i'm just churning out massive amounts of best moves for the sole purpose of increasing my CA. It just seems like a redundant and dead end excercise. I don't know.

They said in another thread that they're already working on more new stuff. They just didn't want to overstimulate us with too much stuff to buy at once.

Edit: And is an infinite amount of custom techs that bad? I mean, it's all totally original characters anyway. Mostly original powers makes sense to me.

We have already taken notice of the issue (quite a few weeks ago actually) and are discussing various implementations regarding future ways to spend XP.

We'd like to keep you with incentive to roleplay without giving you so much at one time that you feel that in order to be competitive you must have everything at once. So we kinda want to introduce a few elements over time.

Exactly what those elements are has yet to be concretely decided upon, but we have a couple of things on the table.

We also are watching a bit to get a good grasp on how much average xp is accumulated once this initial post rush has settled, to help us decide a few things. So by continuing doing what you guys are doing, you are helping us to get a feel on the xp rate.

Straight talk express:

The XP System was originally supposed to tabulate your CA based not only on XP spent, but also on your unspent XP value. However, due to a miscommunication, this feature didn't make it into the current build of the calculator. From what I understand, it's absolutely, totally doable. Staff are aware of the issue and are doubtlessly working hard to correct it. We'll just have to live with it for now, and really, it's not going to be a real problem for a while.

So rest easy, gents.

Mostly what Belle said.

When the XP system was put into place I was coding in the calculator for CA but ran into some problems, we decided to count up CA manually by XP spent until I can get it fixed. So, short answer, it's going to be based on your total XP earned ever and not just spent but just not yet... so don't worry about it.

By the way, I figured this be the place to do it. Can I get in on the Development for at least the expansion stuff? I missed out on the original stuff.

The Development forum was opened up for the reset. My understanding is that it will now be once again closed to the playerbase at large. (I believe expansion stuff is discussed in a separate forum, anyway.)

Just to confirm, yes, the dev forum is being closed and all development work will now be done by staff. This doesn't mean that if we think we can't do it alone, we won't ask for help again.
