I thought the game play in the last one got a little redundant... Hopefully they'll spice it up a lil in the new one.

I'm going to have to disagree with that. Assassin's Creed, in my opinion, is and probably will forever be one of the best games of all time. The graphics were downright amazing, the plot was compelling and outstanding, the voice work for every single character right down to the people on the street was absolutely spectacular, the gameplay itself, while basically the same formula over and over, had enough spice in each part to make it different. And replayability? I can't believe anyone would even suggest that it isn't replayable, as I have gone back to some of my favorite assassinations (Majd Addin; William of Montferrat; Garnier de Naplouse; Robert de Sable; Sibrand) and found myself loving it. Overall, it's a great game, can't wait for the second.
And to those that claim the ending sucked, well, I disagree with that, too. I found myself lingering there, wondering what the heck was going to happen next. I don't think I've ever found a game that was that enthralling.

The first game didn't leave that big an impression on me. Sure it looked great, and some of the assassinations were really fun and well set-up. But the story was differcult to keep up with/care about, for me atleast, and like Gozen said, the gameplay got so tedious after awhile, pick pocket this guy, fight some soldiers, save this citizen, rinse and repeat.

I didn't find the gameplay repetitive at all, but that seems to be the minority opinion for the game.
I'm very much looking forward to a second. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. It's on my mind, all of the time, and if it left... I would be fine."

Juno and Kaden have hit my opinion. I like the swordfighting aspect the best. So I loved it.

The combat system was by far my favorite aspect of the game, so I found myself just picking random fights with guards and doing the protect the helpless mission at any chance. It was fluid, natural and it gave a really solid illusion of realism.
But, the storyline was absolute bollocks. I loved Altier's plot line, but the whole 'gene memory' crap was just irritating and in my opinion unnecessary. Overall if they had given you more dynamic side missions and less of a rinse repeat play style, I would have absolutely loved it. PS: Of course the graphics were great. It's a big name new gen game, they're pretty much expected to be all kinds of beautiful. [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

So, did anyone else get the Game Informer?
I nearly cried.

I also really like the setting of Renaissance Venice. The first Assassin's Creed is one of my all time favorite games and this looks absolutely outstanding.

The whole Venice concept is pretty cool. There better be a lot of scenery and shit for video game tourists like me.

Bil Baer Jaxx, if you'll look at the game informer articles, you can see several of the places they've rendered versus the real things, such as the Rialto Bridge.

The thing that bugged me about Assassin's Creed was that, yes, it was repetitive if you wanted to really dig in. I didn't mind so much the climbs to the lookout points, though I think they could have been much more interesting. It's the stupid minigames that really got on my nerves after a while. When you've pickpocketed like 12 of these exact same scenarios in a row, the need for you to do them to unlock the 'clues' about the mission or unlocking the actual assassination seemed excessively bureaucratic.
I liked the combat system, but only so much. When I realized that guards were obscenely easy to read and that I could kill practically everyone with a single counter, it became extremely common for me to herd up a group of 25 guards and take them all out without taking a single scratch of damage. There was also the extremely stupid fact that you could be obscenely deadly out of your combat stance in combat. Grab enemy. Shove him backward. Run forward to avoid the swords coming at your back, and "stealth kill" the guy who just fell on his ass. Repeat for every single guard. Win game. (The free-running in that game, however, was amazing. There was nothing quite like running from the guards (when I got bored of killing), leaping onto the rooftops, and chaining leaps across five separate blocks, jumping from post to post, etc. High intensity, kinetic experience. Loved it.) ![]()

I think a lot of work and effort went into the free running aspects of the game, and it is probably my second favorite part of the game. The combat did get too easy once you mastered it, but I think that's true of pretty much any AI v. player situation.
