What are you reading?

I'm reading: Chronicles of the Black Company, and it's amazing. By far the best fantasy I've read after the first two chapters. You can pick up the first three Black Company books by Glenn Cook in a single book at BAMM or Barnes and Noble (or Amazon). It's military fantasy, and some of the characters resemble the Nazgul from LOTR to mention one or two.

Black Company is fucking awesome. My Dad pushed it on me when I was 15, and though I'm skeptical of his brand of generic fantasy this one worked. Coincidently I stole a name from it for a character in an upcoming roleplay.

Awesome fantasy thats getting a lot of attention recently is George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire. It actually deserves every bit its getting. Its not for those who enjoy happy endings though.

Right now I am reading Generation Kill, which is probably just as good if not better than the HBO Miniseries (which I thoroughly enjoyed), and just finished American Gods which was also superb.

the last thing i read was the Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell. i've also got Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep sitting on a shelf for some months, waiting for me to crack it open. next to that is Survivor's Club, a book on the nature and science of survival in various situations, i really should have read it a while ago. one of my most frequent leafing is Freedom, just a book of quotes on the nature and perspective of freedom over several hundred years

Yeah i just finished reading brisinger which is book 3 of the inheritence cycle written by christopher paolini. Its really intresting. Plus i got like 40 star trek books i bought at a goodwill that i need to get around to reading. (And no 40 is not a exageration its a understatement.)

Last book I finished was The Zombie Survival Guide.

Last book I finished was either the third, fourth or fifth of "The Ranger's Apprentice". It's by an Australian writer so it came with my very own killer spider and a bucketload of awesome. Unfortunately there's no more published books of the writer in Denmark and I'm still waiting for the next release of his books on English, since there's a lot lost in translation.

If anyone enjoys fantasy that still holds realism to the level of well-trained specialists in a medieval world with an enormous sense of sarcasm, awkward, funny teenager moments (in the 2nd or 3rd book) and an epic battle or two, this is a good series to look at.

ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE IN AUSTRALIA WHICH HAS ALL THE BOOKS. FU ORION.

I actually finished it a long while back, but despite it's horrible, 'chick lit' sounding name, it's really, really good.

Awesome current Sci-Fi. Neuromancer is amazing. The Dark Tower is Sci-Fi/horror/fantasy and worth a read through, though the bits involving Susannah are pretty drab, and dated in congruence with the disorder Susannah has. Some of the things written are about a total other disorder than the one stated.

Twilight is entertaining, followed by New Moon, and Eclipse. Just finished Eclipse, and am going to read through TBC before Breaking Dawn. That's not to say they're not amazing vampire (if you didn't know it was about vampires...) fiction, because they are. It's also a romance series, and seems convoluted at times, but the characters (despite some being mythical creatures) are realistic. Stephanie Meyer is a wonderful writer, and this series is also worth a read.

I'll not hold Twilight against you, but Neuromancer sounds pretty good. Ill have to check that out.

I've been eyeing Dark Tower but I've never been big on Stephen King.

EDIT: I would have absolutely nothing against the Twilight series if it were well written. It's not. Not even a little bit.

I just finished the first book and it was pretty good. Im gonna pick up the second in the near future. Its very wordy, but good.
